The blood angels may have been involved, but to a far lesser extent.

I completely agree with the OP 100%.

AMEN!

I was going to remark that I assumed the BT, Salamanders and Raven Guard were just running away from all orcs while the glory boyz in the form of Twi-emo marines stole the show? They lost Tycho but for goodness sake of all the marines I think the Salamanders were the marines of Armageddon.

In addition I'm sick of BA and Space Puppy 'counts as' I should just get the 'Mighty Morphin' Marines' their fluff is that their armour and appearance changes colour to suit whatever the feth I want it to in their eternal duty of acquiring the cheese. There that's my half assed 'fluff'/justification/conscience silencer* When that starts I don't see why I cannot use my wood elves as count as space wolves : they can shoot and fight, the glade riders can be wolf riders and I'm sorted!

Seriously play an army for an army, it cheapens the hobby to run for the cheese so much.

*research shows by Guilliman, Vulkan, Sanguinius et al (M32) that only 0.00653% of power gamers have a conscience and that about half again have an imagination.

I've played blood angels for 15 years, I bought the new codex to remain legal but I didn't think they really needed it. Mephiston is tough but expensive and I'm hesitant of fielding him with no invulnerable save. In past editions he always at least had his refractor field for a 5+.
As I was reading it the first thing that struck me was WTF? Sanguinary Guard? What role are these guys supposed to play? We already had honor guards and veteran assault squads so why were these guys necessary?
Librarian dreads are just freaking cool to me fluffwise, Every chapter should get those as well as Chaplain dreads. Speaking of dreads, I love the Furiosos but I admit blood talons may be a wee bit overpowered against horde armies. They would be balanced by being crappy against vehicles except for that odd rule that you can always hit a vehicle at it's rear armor value.
Sanguinary Priests. I believe all apothecaries and medics in Imperial Guard command squads give their squad feel-no-pain, so the priest should probably give feel-no-pain only to the squad he's in - not everyone nearby. The Furious charge ability I can see as a result of inspiring those around you, but how many guys can you reach with that medi-pack buddy?

edit - maybe the blood talons would be okay if they didn't work exactly like lightning claws with the re-roll to wound

I bet will soon that there will be yet another FAQ update for the Space Marines stating that EVERY single chapter can get a stormraven gunship. The back of the box eevn has one painted to look like it belongs to demon hunters and many players at my store agree that this is very well a distinct possibility. Marinehammer is alive and well, Its for reasons like this i play as Guard and Chaos! . And in regards to updates dont even get me started on why i think there are other armies that deserve/need to be fixed first before yet ANOTHER marine chapter getting updated. At this rate after Demonhunters we can look forward to a Movie Marines Codex coming out next!

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Welcome to the world of gamers

They are still flavour of the month(s)
Give it a while and it will pass.
Wolves were the same.

However, it did make me stop playing BA.
Nothing really unique about them anymore.

To add insult to injury, i got up to a 1k army of space sharks, and they are now back with a new name in the badab book :(

This is nothing new. Just replace BA with Marine Flavor of the Month. GW pushes marines, always have, always will. Expect more of the same when GK hit in a few months.

Yeah, it was bad enough that they gave BA a rediculous, over-the-top codex. It was bad enough when they started promoting them to the exclusion of everything else. What really takes the cake is that, due to the above, my FLGS is moving towards 50% of the gamers playing blood angels.

It was bad enough when it was Space Marines 40,000, but having Blood Angels 40,000 is rediculous.

They have way to many perks. also no sm should ever be toughness 6 and int 7 thats bs hardcore. it doesnt matter how many points they cost, its that fact that those are his stats.

On moon miranda.

If we could just have less "ALL SPACE MARINES ALL THE TIME" it would be nice.

If for nothing else than to make me excited about Space Marines again (the whole "less is more" or "familiarity breeds contempt" approach). As is, whether its Blood Angels, Ultrasmurfs, Space Puppies, etc, they are just everywhere all the time, and it's hard for many players not to be sick of them. It not only detracts from other factions, but cheapens the Space Marines as well.

From what I've read of the Imperial Armour books they don't glory hog the Space Marines too much. Granted the Imperium usually gets it's can kicked anyway, but the shift of focus into a more balanced arena is refreshing.

I lost my interest for Blood Angels after I played with the new codex for couple times. It's just plain silly.
I reckon that Matt Ward didn't win any games with normal marine codex so he made new codex that has all the same things with "slightly" better rules.
As for them getting attention now.. It's ok. Everyone gets their turn, right?

I'm personally REALLY tired of all the people making references to Twilight. A bunch of poorly written romance stories loosely based on vampires and werewolves?
Why don't you just call Sws Twilight too, it DOES have werewolves.
I blame this chick.

Bet she doesn't have a soul (because she dyed herself ginger?)
also, I want to do exactly this to the "vampires" of twilight, because they ruined vampires forever and now nobody can shut the hell up about twilight

But OT i think they have really bad codex writers these days. like, reeeeaaaallllllyyy bad pukeworthy codexes have come out as of late, with the only exception being dark eldar (which nobody cares about because they're too busy whining about nerfed carnifexes and op wolves and angels.)

its annoying how OP they made blood angels...I have a friend i play with sometimes who is a hardcore nub lol and he loses almost every game he played against me or others, and when the blood angels came out he started playing them. now because of all the perks he has and my personal fav the toughness 6 sm he stands a chance and he doesnt know his dick from his thumb. they made blood angels so good that someone who doesnt know what there doing is playing at a competitive level, lol its a joke.

What toughness 6 Space Marines are you talking about? Are you just talking about Mephiston? Either way your post is really hard to read due to the bad grammar.

That's what I do. For me, "Twlight Marines" is really a catchall term for two recent, overpowered SM codices...

One thing I have to say, I don't understand how the Blood Angels can still be the flavor of the month if a new Army came out after them, you know the Dark Eldar. It amazes me how quickly GW has seemed to forget them, though rumor has it they are getting more models soon.

I agree whole heartedly with how the Blood Angels have taken over. At my store there is now a grand total of 5 of the Twighlight Marines (I dont care if some of you dont like being called that its true ) and a total of 4 Space Wolf players (they are much cooler then the BA, ill be a space viking over a vampire anyday) however i do agree that they have some things that are just plain OP in both codexs. In the case The Reclusiarch stated i agree. There is one kid at my store who, though a nice guy, does not know tactics to well and since he started Blood Angels (he also has a SW army to) he has started to win more games based on how good his units are not with skill. If there is a book like that it needs to be fixed, period.

However on a lighter note a few days ago my THOUSAND SONS (yes a Thousand Sons themed Chaos Space Marine army) layed the smack down on Dante and a Sanguinary Guard army. It was awesome

Its funny, I'm starting to get more of a rush from beating a blood angels player. Just for playing blood angels then any other army. It feels like you beat someone who had a massive advantage on you before the game started and you threw it back in there face.

Its the same rush you get from blowing up a landraider

I seem to be getting rather good at it, due to the fact 5 out of 8 of my friends I play every week play blood angels.

Wish they'd spread the love with the Marine chapters - there are so many and yet all the GW staff seem to paint are the big names. I realise why they do this for marketing, but why not include more of the high quality work of the fans or staffers who are modelling the less well known stuff?

I really just think that blood angels need to stop beating around the bush and admit their obsession with Khorne.

I mean seriously, Codex Blood Angels to me looks more like a Khorne legion than codex space marines, especially looking at their special rules...

You've got units succumbing to rage. Furious charging marines, meph might as well be a demon prince, Death company are like super khone berzerkers... and nearly every unit is named after blood... for the blood god.
