I used a hobby file to open the hole a bit larger, and I did email Nick about the problem, he was ready to ship out a new 1 (1 out of the 5 was being a total PITA) but I managed to work it out myself.
Again, what product do you buy for this game and expect to come perfect 100% of the time? Lets have some realistic expectations.

I ordered a set of the Heresy era jump packs and was very happy with their quality. They work very well with my Carcharadons in heresy armor. I plan on making another purchase with CH soon.

I couldn't care less what the story is behind them, so don't expect to waste my time trying to dig it up. I discovered those heads when looking for 28mm sci-fi heads for a conversion, and one look told me everything I needed to know about them. It doesn't matter if the master models were made from crystal tears of the last of the renaissance master modelers desperately trying to raise enough money to save his only daughter from being sold off to centauri slave mastesr - they still look awful.
Haha, but what if that slave master was known to be particularly despicable?
I agree they look terrible, and I don't know why they sell them! But, from my own experience I bought some of the mk1 shoulder pads and they were perfect, used them to make a early Great Crusade-era armour which otherwise might have taken a great deal more time!

Indeed.
And I remember the whole thread about those damned heads quite well. CH posted previews and asked for comments, they got shot to ribbons and called out for the crap that they are... and CH basically said "Thanks for the feedback, but we are going to sell them anyway even though our customer base is telling us to our face that they suck."
Playing the market indeed.

Well, you know, just don't buy them.
GW also make some crappy models. People don't go on about those all the time while ignoring the good stuff.

People are constantly bitching about GWs misses on this forum. There are half a dozen threads devoted to whining about the Stormraven alone.
Mr. Chapterhouse has on several occasions made negative comments about other third party bitz manufacturers' sculpts in their own threads. Maybe he doesn't need mods leaping to his rescue.

My point is not that people ignore GW's bad kits. It is that people ignore Chapter House's good kits.

That is an oversimplification of what happened. It takes nothing into account but the negative. None of the "feel-good" of their reasoning for accepting them.
I think it's hilarious that people get so bent out of shape over what toy pieces a company sells. They could be lumps of tin with hats, and it's no skin off of anyone's back, yet some people (not necessarily pointing fingers at you, jp) act like it's a personal affront.

Same for me. As soon as they release something that's both competently sculpted and not helplessly derivative, I'm completely open to recognizing them as such. Until such a time, they're nothing but parasites.

I can't remember anyone who actually liked those heads.
Didn't CH just slap pointy ears on them and sell them as "Space Elf Heads"?

Luna tried to play the "when it's painted they will look fine" card and stood by it even after being proven wrong. You can slap all the paint on a product you want, but if you have to "cover up" the bad with a healthy dose of paint to make it look even slightly good.. then the model just failed miserably.
And I don't see that as an "oversimplification" at all. That is pretty much how the thread went. I even linked it to prove it. If you want a blow by blow account, read the link.
They also said that those heads would be temp and that better quality ones would soon follow to replace them. That was in (2009/12/31 04:40:21) and as of today... nothing has been re-released and updated.
The day Maxmini does proper female heads will be the day when your sad excuse for a product is completely forgotten.

And I think it's funny as hell when people blindly stand by (not necessarily pointing fingers at you, Eric) an obvious sub par product and use the strawman "Well, it could be a block of wood with a feather for a head. You should feel special." argument that really holds no water.

This is a strange thread. Someone asks about quality, everyone who has purchased something seems to think what they ordered was good. And there are a whole bunch of other people making negative comments about the company that are in no way related to the quality of their products.
