merwyrm had no models and I think storm of chaos was in 2004 so the rule for SEA creatures didn't even exist then, maybe rules made for the merwyrm specifically but not in the main rulebook - its kinda silly too include a rule (in 2010) for a creature that came out in 2004 has no models and was specifically made a for storm of chaos

I have this sick feeling in my stomach that GW are making a release for a new army (fish/sea army) and trying too release it during the pirates Caribbean craze (new movie out this year) - a pirate sea creature army

Pirates are always cool
sea race hasn't been done before
2011 perfect release time in sync with POTC movie

this annoys me because they are simply trying to make money

That's a clever prediction. I would rather see them make new armies than update codices that don't need updates badly.

Indeed. I often voice a dislike for how the fantasy races have been pulled into 40k, but they are one of the ones that are so alien enough and unique I wouldn't mind them being pulled into 40k. Particularly since they have been ditched in fantasy. Probably need to clear up the whole rapre theme with them though, as that's not exactly a spectacularly good theme to go with... indeed, best to sweep that past under the carpet, as it were.

You seriously need to rethink your arguments if all you have to go on is "OMG PIRATES THIS SUMMER! SEA CREATURE RULE! MUST BE LINK!". You're trying to force a square peg into a round hole, and it will only end badly.

You need too stop being a smartass and read what I said and not make up stuff I never said, I SAID that only sea creatures rules exist and nothing else exist for those rules and GW staff said "wait and see" basically they have something in mind for those rules it could be an army it could be a unit it could be nothing this year.

I THINK or (wishful thinking even) it could be a new army because I remember a rumour about something big happening in fantasy in 2011 summer (Whats bigger then a new army book) and I suggested that it would make good FINANCIAL sense too release a sea army around the time of one of the biggest selling movies.

And, really...
You think the Pirates of the Caribbean(which is pretty much the female "Oooh Johnny Depp!" crowd) fanbase are scouring the Internet looking for 28mm pirates?

Of course not, its not like GW ever releases stuff just too get a new customer group AND stop with the pirates jeez it was a suggestion that it would be a typical GW move (try too make money) you think GW customers arent fans of POTC - look at it this way if only 20% of warhammer players are fans of POTC then releasing an army themed on sea pirates monsters would mean those 20% buy more stuff from GW.

I mean come on they basically released tau too get all the anime fans into warhammer 40k

You're definitely reading way, way too much into it. They put "generic" special rules into the main rulebook. Not army specific.
Also:...the Merwyrm!

name 1 other rule that is not used by ANY army - almost all the rules are usable by at least 1 army this one sea creature = NILL

Yes, because GW staff are well-known for spilling the beans...

say what you will but I think its going too be a sea creature army of sorts - OR - a race is getting and update and getting a few sea creature models (maybe dark elves)
the reason I say its going too be an new army is because it doesn't make sense too release a rule for a single monster unless all armies are getting some kind of sea creature.
non the less keep a big lookout for these SEA CREATURES

Does anything in that quote mention POTC? all a gave was 2 option that make sense too me army or new monster or unit

There are suppose to be slews of new minis coming this Summer. Maybe their campaign will have the theme of sea invasions, and maybe even bring back the ship rules from the General's Compendium. This would be awsome in my book but who really knows what GW is going to do as we only ever really find out for sure about a month or so in advance. Here's to hope for some more epic models, which Im pretty sure will happen

Because if they've been designing this army as long as your reasoning suggests...
It could have been timed to coincide with those movies.

You do know that they actually do have zombie pirates already, right?

The Sartosan models from the Collector's Range are pretty much fanservice to POTC.

I mean come on they basically released tau too get all the anime fans into warhammer 40k

Ill-informed, untrue, and unsuccessful. The Tau were an attempt to add a "less grim" aspect to the 40k universe.

Unless "anime" is now exclusively 'small amounts of battlesuits and slit-headed aliens'.

clearly I pointed out its not reliable so why are you repeating what I already said?

You're missing the point entirely.

The point was GW staff will almost never spill information that is remotely true concerning upcoming releases, outside of the "3 month window".

There's also the point that, y'know...most GW employees have as much "insider information" as the rest of the GW community does.

say what you will but I think its going too be a sea creature army of sorts - OR - a race is getting and update and getting a few sea creature models (maybe dark elves)

And I didn't say it until after you kept harping on the POTC connection. Without that, your 'theory'(if it can really be called that) falls apart.

Without foreknowledge, GW would have had to have this release planned for ages anyways(which, admittedly, could be the case due to the "big fantasy summer" rumor we've had for...oh three years now).

POTC is just a coincidence, at best.

so tell me oh wise all knowing did I ever say

you are really in love with POTC, my reasoning is this - sea monster rules, no sea monster model, no sea monster army therefore either a sea monster is going to be be released or a new sea army

and as I said ...if they started making an army it would only be around the same time they started making 8th edition (since sea monster rules only appear in the 8th" so unless they can travel back in time it would be impossible to release during 1,2 or 3 movie

Unless "anime" is now exclusively 'small amounts of battlesuits and slit-headed aliens'.

so you think anime and mecha suits weren't an inspiration for the tau I bet you my left testicle it was one of the main inspiration for tau

So the Dwarf Airship in the rulebook is tournament legal and available to every army? Awesome. My High Elves are gonna have to get them one.

all this suggest is dwarfs could be getting an airship

The point was GW staff will almost never spill information that is remotely true concerning upcoming releases, outside of the "3 month window".

I know that, it clearly states in my discussion with him that he says

"Cant tell you" "but keep a watch out, very soon" he gave a nice laugh over the phone and I said goodbye.

he could have said, no, he could have said, I dont know I am just a rookie, he could have put the phone down, but no he said keep a watch out very soon....

since there is another rumour about something BIG happening for fantasy in the summer I though hmmm could be a slight connection

There's also the point that, y'know...most GW employees have as much "insider information" as the rest of the GW community does.

clearly I know that or I wouldn't have said NOT RELIABLE SOURCE

And I didn't say it until after you kept harping on the POTC connection. Without that, your 'theory'(if it can really be called that) falls apart.

I kept harping? when? please quote me harping about POTC, I mentioned POTC in my second post ONCE then you simply said my POTC idea is wrong,

the main idea is sea monster or sea race is being released, you then imagined me saying that its connected to POTC and I never said that I said I think it could be connected, that was it.

I have this sick feeling in my stomach that GW are making a release for a new army (fish/sea army) and trying too release it during the pirates Caribbean craze (new movie out this year) - a pirate sea creature army
Pirates are always cool
sea race hasn't been done before
2011 perfect release time in sync with POTC movie

this is all I said about it, nothing more nothing less then you started pointing out that my idea which is either a sea army or a sea monster being released is wrong and pointing how it could not be POTC related, I know its not POTC related

Without foreknowledge, GW would have had to have this release planned for ages anyways(which, admittedly, could be the case due to the "big fantasy summer" rumor we've had for...oh three years now).

POTC is just a coincidence, at best.

I never said it was anything more then a sickly feeling of mine its like you watch a movie trailer and think to yourself "this is gonna be crap" I never said I have definitive proof or anything only pointing out how I feel and you have this need to say "your feelings are wrong about POTC"
sure more then likely its only a stupid feeling I am getting.

It's good to have my talents of amazingness recognized.

not really I sort a detest you right now, you sound like the worst person too talk with or be in the same room with.

See, it has less to do with my reading ability and it has more to do with you leaping to conclusions based off vague hints from a completely unreliable source--and then running to tell us that you've cracked some kind of code

so lets see I think a sea army or sea monster is going to be released this summer beacuse
a - rulebook has sea monster rules
b - rumour about something big happening in summer for WHF

Did I jump any huge hurdles or are you simply so stubborn and high and mighty that you feel the need to be always right and have the last post?

plus I never ran here too tell anything, I just thought I would mention something that could be a potential rumour which it can be.

ps and I repeat I DO NOT THINK it is going to be coinciding with POTC4 it was a sickly feeling I had, nothing less, my opinion, my idea that is all.

I could actually see it being a forge world release the newest forge world newsletter (for warhammer) said they have some secret project being made, who knows could be a warhammer fantasy version of Imperial Armour with lots of new stuff

wouldn't be a bad thing, it could have even been the old ones, imagine if the world of war hammer developed like normal world, the first signs of life would have been in the water, the old ones made an underwater race but something happened blah blah blah they were locked away deep in the water whilst old ones tried plan b of their plan and made lizzies basically lizzies evil cousin

This seems much more likely than a new army. Sea battles with pirates would be sweet! There are quite a few of the GW demographic who like pirates beyond PotC. Outside GW, Pirate weekend at the Renaissance Festival is always packed with folks in pirate costumes... pirates are popular! It might even tempt some new blood to start playing.

Besides, they just released goblin ninjas, so OF COURSE pirates should be updated as well.

It would only make sense to pull out and polish up the ship rules and release like they did Spearhead. 'bout freakin time they did something to capitalize on pirates (yeah yeah, Sartosa, need moar).

I'm calling it as: WFB High Seas expansion!

(that is my guess at any rate)

C'thulhu would be great, but sadly I don't see it happening

Sarsorta forces would be cool, though a sea battle subgame would probably just go the way of Warhammer Quest or Blood Bowl

I don't know about a lot of sea monsters, but with the recent (kinda) surge in large plastic monsters (Arachnarok, new Stegadon, Hellpit Abomination etc) I can see where this rule would get some usage, specially with the upcoming rumored Summer Model surge

Fishmen and Fimir would both be amazing but sadly we all know, won't ever happen

I personally think that the Sea Creature rule is there so that if GW were to ever make a future Sea Creature type unit they wouldn't have to come up with a new rule, they could instead apply the current Sea Creature rule.

Yes, they're preparing for a Sea Creature... IF they ever decide to make one, not because they are GOING to make one.

You know over the past couple of months I've dropped posts about this subject on and off! Including on the pages that launched this topic.

The thing that struck me in the rulebook was the image of the boats...not the new rules.

Sea creatures and ships are present in a GW game already in existence. I foretell GW is going to combine the elements of one of its older games into its new game. Massively expanding game scenarios and importantly models meaning sales. Models that previously were not on the same scale (warmaster scale) will now be 28mm/1/35th. A steam tank is about the largest thing you can get for empire on land. But what you could get on sea is a....

Wait I mean....

You had massive sea creatures in Man O War (new rules). You had Boats (depicted in 8th ed). They will release it as an expansion. Possibly in time for pirates of the carribean...which already exists game wise.

And yes the warhammer on the album cover does have a spear point.

Anyway...the do that...they'll massively increase their profits. You would have a army, and a armada. Rule system is already in existence just need new models...like they did with Space Hulk last year.
