I like all of those in your last update. The female mercenary is fantastic. The tattoo makes he look pretty badass. My fav is the last pic in your latest update. The wolven dude. Sweet.

Thanks everyone!
@bunnygurl, glad you like the wolven! He is painted to a much higher standard, using blending, osl and other effects.

Okay, so here is what I have got done this week, I have run up a couple of test models for some crossbowmen, one with much darker armour and cloth tha the other. Which one do you like the most?
I have also finished some orcs (I remember painting one of these guys years ago, very nice to see how I have progressed since then!)
One of these has a minimal conversion, the morning star-style weapon being replaced with a wolven head to spice things up!
Now that I am nearing completion of this huge project, I am once again accepting commissions. Most of my work comes in the form of 40k armies featuring either heavy converting or high-standard painting. Of course, I am not just limited to 40k work as you can see, anything goes! It is up to the customer if they want me to showcase my progress on dakka (as some like their opinions to be the only one!)
PM me if you are interested and I can arrange the rest in private.
Thanks!
Cain

Stunning work as always. I love seeing progression in painting skills as well. Gives ya the warm and fuzzies, no?
As far as the Crossbowmen go...I like the one with the lighter color armor and cloth. IMO it's more pleasing to the eye and easier to differentiate the two as well.

Another wolven on the line to completion!
I am quite happy with how the skin turned out despite my limited paint pallete, the colours seem a little faded as he actually has a blue mane it just does not seem to show.
Anyway, here he is.
Up next, well, a couple more wolf dudes and then maybe an ork? Yeah, green sounds good after all these grays and browns
Until next time,
Cain

Okay, five day weekend. Let's see how much I can get painted in that time!
I have a quick question for all out there, what colour should I paint a huge, fire breathing dragon? I am torn between a classic red or black scales. Opinions?

First off... who makes those "Wolven" minis you keep mentioning? Are they still in print? They look like they'd be pretty sweet to paint up a single/group/ah, what the hell... make it a small warband or army...
Second, for your dragon... if you've got the time, how about using both colors? A black-to-red fade, black being the innermost color closest to the dragon's skin... and a red of your choosing... (torn between seeing this dragon in my head of brighter blood red or a more neutral dark-brown red....)
Can't wait to see pics!

A Racham models thread!
I had this in mind, but now I'm convinced to do one of my own.
Commander Cain, would you be interested to participate in a tribute thread to Rackham's Confrontation?

@Izanagi, The wolven were made by a company called Rackham who stopped selling unpainted models a couple of years ago. You can still find the kits on places like ebay bu they are going fast! It is a real shame that they stopped selling their models which are plastered in details and my favorite fantasy miniatures by far. I am liking your idea for the dragons skin, may have to get on and paint that dude!
@hyenajoe, I would love to see another Rackham thread! I have not seem many of the models painted up apart from the original paintjobs.
A tribute thread you say? Why not, they deserve it after all!

Good morning to you all!
I have just painted a pretty nice model, a huge, ork-like creature with a unpronouncable name
I think he has been my favorite to paint so far, but then the dragon is still in progress!
Anyway, here is the big beasty,
Mug shot
Look at all that stuff on his back! A spare club, steak, knife (in case he looses the sword, spear and club ) and of course, an alcoholic beverage for the trip.
Thats all for now folks! Could be my last post for a while as I am busy getting ready to move into the new house.

Ah, I seem to have a slight problem. While I was packing, the already built dragon had both of his wings broken off at the joints. As he was already pinned, I would ask if anyone knows of a really strong superglue to prevent this from happening again.
Thanks!

Some great looking Rackham stuff in here. For the dragons wings try superglue made by Gorrila glue, or JB weld.

Hey mate you could try liquid nails , thats very strong but a bit messy. sets pretty fast though. about 5 to 10 minis and then a bit longer to cure properly.
wow it seems like my hiatus as caused some missed models again. the wolfen look fantastic especialy the blue one. the lastest paintjob has so much detail mate, the green and yellow on his back is a really nice touch. you could actually use him as a removal guy if yours dont turn up lol
good luck with the move Commander.

First of all, I have to thank everyone for all of their postive comments, secondly I wish to celebrate my 1000th post! Ahem, back to work... So, I have been busy moving and have had a lot of disruption to my regular life but does that stop me from painting? No! Not one but three wolven painted up Not too sure why he is pulling this pose, I imagine him dodging arrows or an opponents blade! This guy is simply menacing looking, I tried yet another armour effect on him, not too sure what it is but it looks cool! And then finally, my favorite model so far. A very slender wolven (I imagine he is inspired from greyhounds) The pose and weapon really set him apart from the rest. I am also in love with the paintjob I gave him, the grey-blue combo worked wonders! Well, another batch painted up! I will have to take an army shot soon as I have not sent any of the larger models away yet. Dragon is next! Cain

Wow, completley forgot to keep this blog up to date for the last month or so!
How about a test model for a LotR Dwarf army?
Here ya go!
I have a couple of chips to patch up on him as he arrived pre-sprayed, must have been a low quality spray however because it was a little flaky and had obscured the details somewhat.
Dang, I guess you will be wanting some more Rackham pics, I shall have to visit the buddy I painted them for and snap some photos!

You cheeky necromancers waking my thread up!
@MrMerlin, Thanks! And as to how much I get from these commissions, well, due to the vast amount of models my buddy asked me to paint, I gave him a pretty decent price, seeing as he just gave me his paints and models, I just built them, painted them and charged him around $5 for a mini or two (depending on how well they were done, size etc..)
( ps. Your avatar is very cool!)
@warmill, thanks dude! I am pretty pleased with that guy myself!
Currently I have no sci-fi commissions, however, I am painting my own vast IG army!
(fun fact, this dude is currently standing inside a Warmill fortress )
