Hey guys! This is my blog of my ongoing commisions for you (and the customer) to observe, comment and of course provide suggestions for whatever I happen to be painting. Enjoy!

Well, last month a pretty heavy package came in the post. Big enough that I thought my new printer had finally arrived. But no, inside was practically the entire collection of Rackham's best products (and they produced some of the finest fantasy models before they shut down.

I am not really sure how many models I had recieved, but I have not yet come to the bottom of the pile and am working my way down. One model at a time!

Fortunatley, my fantastic customer has realised that this project is not one that will happen overnight and I have plenty of time to paint them all up to a tabletop standard with the exception of a couple of models.

Anyway, enough talk. Here are the minis that are all finished and ready to be sent off.

Three warriors with nice big axes

And also some wraith/ghoul fellas (missing a few pictures like the group shot)

Feel free to make any suggestions to the minis, I listen to them all!

Cain

Damn these look good. Good job, I especially like the middle one from the first picture. But I think the skin tone of the female axe swinger needs some more attention.

Started work on the squa...Dwarfs. The center guy is all finished while the other two need elf flesh on the skin and the rest of the highlights to be put on.

Pics have not been to friendly to the skin, I am really pleased with how it turned out as it is very smooth IRL!

Another day, and more stuff painted up ready to go (minus the bases). Not really sure what I painted, elves presumably! I ried a differnt style of painting on these three, blending silver into gold on all the armour, I must say it has worked very well especially to say I had no idea what it would look like I just wish I could remember how I did it as I did not write down my paint recipie. Oh well, back to the drawing board

Anyway, enough talk still more to paint!

Yet another snow day here on the island!

Might as well show you the progress I have been making over the week, started work on a cool looking lizard and have pretty much finished the ogre.

I quite like the guys armour bet the swords certainly need some work doing on them, of course, the skin has only been basecoated atm

The ogre has been finished for quite some time now, plenty of details all over him!

Not too sure what is next, I have a pile more of them to finish!

Yeah, not real sure what any of this is, but it looks good! The big heads on the little bodies make me smile.

Thanks everyone!

@neil, Yep, plenty of brown washes and lots of mixing tends to do the trick with things like that. Glad you like it!

Angry looking wolf is needing some more washes then he is all done, he reminds me a little of the warg beasts of LotR.

Good-lookin' models! I'd like to know a little bit more about the silver-into-gold Elf models...

Is the paint-job complete on those miniatures? I'm just wondering if you have some sort of reference "this-is-where-I-got-the-idea-from"... it's intriguing, to say the least.

Thanks again for the comments!

@HF Izanagi, my ispiration for these particular models came from the 'eavy metal of Rackham's painting team, a group of incredibly talented people who are arguably some of the best miniature painters on the planet and imo produce some of the finest works of art I have ever seen. Quite a trick to even come close to how they painted these models, especially because I have to stay within tabletop standards!

Next up is a pair of muscle sword wielding goons who I have fondly nicknamed 'smurf's gone bad'

Another three are on the way, just needing the metal done.

Pics did not turn out too good but they were the best I could get with the lighting that I had!

The blue and brown work well together... and the steel is very gritty... I like that.

Pretty big update for tonight. I have been working on some special characters who do not seem to fit into any category and have simply been picked out for looks. They have turned out very well considering their size (slightly smaller scale to what I am used to).

First up is a sharpshooter and his hunting eagle. I went for a different colour on the cloth and some armour plates, giving them a shade of aqua using greens and blues. I might put some shading on the sword with some washes but that is pretty much it.

And now an axe wielding goon, needing some work on the cape and then he is complete.

Finally, a model I am quite pleased with, a female mercenary with very different skin to how I usually paint it. I went for an almost completely whit face with a blue tattoo to match her hair. Please tell me what you think!

Only around 20 figures left to paint! Mostly wolven (like this guy but painted to a lower standard). I also have a few orcs and... Oh yeah, a flippin' big dragon!

Until next week,

Cain

The dood with the eagle and flintlock caught my eye out of all of them- the whole ranger meets technology, reminds me of Fable. Is that another Rackham mini?

Keep it up, Cain!
