Looking really nice! The purple against white scheme here is working very well indeed.

Maybe a very faint, light wash added to the bone "crest" on the back to give it a little more depth without removing the contrast you're going for.

Amusement?! Flock those bases and then sit back and watch your gallery start racking up votes! Awesome job, I agree with the others, the little speckles really add some depth and detail to the paint job. Not bad for your first try!

As a matter of fact, it's awesome for a first try. I call shenanigans.

Nice, really respect the way you painted them very pale, I tried that and couldn't do it, kudos for the great work!
One small thing: the wash on the 1st pic looks a bit too heavy, maybe you could try diluting the wash a bit - plus your washes will go further!

A blue or green wash added to the 'crest' would definitely give it a very unique bit of depth and make the purple 'pop'.

You know, if I didn't know any better, I would say you were stepping out on Ol' MGS with someone who actually knows how to paint. Good thing you don't live over on this half of the state; Mrs. Wehrkind would get jealous

Seriously, for first time models, those are fantastic. Hell, I know guys around here who have been painting for years for whom those models would be fantastic. I really love the speckles on the carapace.
Then you post the genestealer... hell, I would be pretty pleased with that in a 'nid army! Great work on that; it is really good to see you are trying new techniques and playing around with how you are doing things. That is definitely the fastest way to improve, and MGS (or the mail man) can be very proud of your progress and his role in it.

Do you think you will have these bad boys ready for Dakkacon 2? I love seeing well painted tyranids, which almost never happens.

Very nice paint work, the first two tyranids are very nice (love the pattern on the back) and that genestealer just pushes you up to the next level.

Right, here's my latest (and only) new paint job. Painting takes me a veeerrry long time. Thanks to Wehrkind for the assistance with this fella at Dakkacon. And thanks to Mr. Stompa for magnetizing the crap out of it!

Looking really good! If it makes you feel any less guilty, I just painted my first model since D-con 2 yesterday myself

If I might suggest some things:

1: Have you thought about making the eyes green? With so much of the model having sort of a sepia warm tone, a bright green might be a nice way to add a little contrast. Oooh, or maybe a purple. Purple tongue maybe!

2: The teeth need some plaque on them. I usually put a little gryphon sepia around where they meet the gums to get the gradient, though red might work as well to make it look like the teeth don't have bad veneers on them

Actually.... you totally need to make that model. It is all sorts of disturbing, and awesome

Fantastic looking stuff in here - I've always liked the 'more realistic'/paler/muted approach to Tyranid color schemes, though the more garish/outlandish/alien ones are OK too, of course!
