Wow, been a while. I've been spending almost all of my meager modeling time trying to salvage my Space Marines. But I did start on this guy.

Well, well , well....

So this last quarter at work saw me working about five or six weekends, etc. no time for modeling since September or August. The suck.

But I've been recently hammering out some Kommandos and Lootas, even though I have yet to finish my Big Mek w/ Shokk and my cool tribal shaman weird warphead boy. I'vce also started looking at my 2nd edition boyz to see if they are going to look cool with a first ever real paint job.

Plus I realized my shootas arent finished.

But painting took a back seat to playing when I had ffree time anbd my daughter actually let me play as Orks for ht e first time in forever and a day. She bragged how she could beat me as Space Marines since she holds the world record of most wins of Orks over SM. I took that up as a proppa challenge since it had been a long time playing as Orks. She quickly trounced me. Sigh.

But I got a huge hug after assembliing most of this christmas present and explaining the Apoc rules for it to her.

Thanks it HAS been a while. Jeez. This is usually our slower time of year at work, but we had so many huge projects it was just insane.

She's nine and part ork I think. I spent most of the day assembling that monster and can't wait to paint it. It'll be so much fun weathering that thing.

So I figured I might as well post some WIP pics.

I actually have been doing some stuff.

First, my lootaboyz. I made 17 by accident in counting, so I think I'll just grab another box and have two decent mobs. My daughter likes to plop down the Shokk attack gun with these guys. So its usually a race to see who gets off the killing blow between them and my Vindy.

Tried to make them as custom as possible so they're not so "stock":














Next up, my current tied-for-favorite models with the meganobs and brand new Stompa, my kommandoes.

I've tried to get across a feel that they have covered themsolves in concrete dust and muck to be all sneaky like and low cunning.

I tried to match this guy from DoW2 as best as I can. I wanted to capture that look for the Nob.

And lastly, my poor neglected Shootamob. I don't know why I haven't finished them. They are so useful on the battlefield. Here is a pic of a few of them, I think the full mob is 20 or 22 strong.

Oh and you don't need to buy the box if you want lootas.... I've built like 12 completeley custom ones (look at my blog) from bitz lying around

custom should be the way to go, I totally enjoyed making my megas.

I'm looking at maybe converting an old star wars toy lizard to a squiggoth. But, I need to actually finish something. The Stompa is calling and I have a cool idea to add to it. But I also have a trukk for Thuggas' ladz and the three mobz I just posted, plus my Killa Kanz, stormboyz, weirdboy, and tankbustas. So little time, but I'm about to go on vacation Woohoo!!!!

Howdy Dakka, so I just started my vacation. First one of the year and the year is almost over. Whew. Goodbye 2012....

Anyway, I plan on getting some painting caught up. Starting with my Stompa. It is fully assembled, primed, and most of the first wash on.

Thank you sir! these guys are always so much fun. I love my space marines, but they are so much more serious. Orks are just a blast. The checks on the trukk were a pain, but totally worth it. I think they really make it pop.

So, I really need to update more. UI often forget how little I've posted of my horde. I've got a lot of out of date stuff on the first page too. My Nobs have been ripped up, five to become thos e dead 'ard megas, and the others are sitting in a box waiting for more. Thanks for looking.

Oh and no viable updates on the Stompa, got some plates painted on the armor, that's all.

Wow, I haven't posted anything in a long time.I have actually been working on stuff. Nothing ever gets finished though. /Me sighs.

Anyway, here's some Orky fun!!!!


Got a bit iof a Stompa update. Since I am so used to trying to paint yellow, I had sprayed this thing white. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGE mistake. It's mostly metal dummy!

So I took some black primer to the whole thing and started over. It is in base coat phase right now.:






NEXT - I found a bunch of older stuff in boxes in my shed. I had been looking for them for a while. Anyway, really trying to breathe some life baack onto these old metals, had so many freaking leftover arms from my lootas, that I made a Burna boyz mob:







Next up, some Orky tanks. A buddy of mine used to make these based on Epic ork tanks. I used them as the base, they'll belooted wagons, one has a boom gun, the other can be a boom gun or a scorcha. The ludicrously large boom gun is somethign from a hardware store that screamed "I should be a boom gun, I'm only $1.19!"








Last but not least, update on my Kans. I have them basecoated, still need clean up, washes, and weathering, but so far so good so what...

Also, with the Warboss, nobs, stompa, kans, 'ardboyz, and dread I've been trying to maintain the yellow/black mask as a theme for the army. I figure that that yellow/black is Gorgrimm's scheme, the other face painting through out the army is tribally related to each mob.

So here's the other thing. I have been some other forces that would be on the planet that my orks and space marines are fighting over, some I.G. and some Chaos.

I bought 160 old Warzone models from Prince William. Cheap and fun to play around with.

I'll post more pics of them as I get more done, but I have been busy with my guard tanks. Now, I have thousands of points of orks and marines, some of the models are from the early nineties or whatever. I am almost finished collecting a full marine company, but nothing could've prepared me for collecting Guard.

I got ONE tank, then needed another. Then a Hellhound. Now I want six Leman Russ total and maybe three Hellhounds. It's a sickness. Those damned tanks are just so beautiful. Rumbly. SHooty. IO played as Guard and actually won a game too!

Anyway, still love my other armies. But these guys are a blast to paint and build, and well, play:







Not quite done yet, need clean up and some more touches.



And yes, I magnetized every freaking pice (Just about).


Lastly, a touch of Chaos - More enemies = better. Waaagh.

Been slowly working at it. I finally finished something! My Shoota boys!

The Gore Gobs:





I've been trying to keep a very tribal feel to most of the orks. The core warband based around Gorgrimm has a theme and then they have picked up mobs from all over, each with its own warpaint scheme or what-have-you.






Now since I only get to play as my orks like once in every five games, my daughter who is mostly ork herself, is drooling overfielding two of these damned things. One Big Mek with Shokk Attack is deadly enough.

So I'll split my shootas and they'll go ten and ten each with a Big Mek SHokk Atackk gun. I'm really glad I found my old models in storage.




I made a hammer for the second one out of parts, came out as expected. Orky technology.






Next, some early early WIP for my Stormboys. I pulled out all my old Madboyz, which I miss as far as a real unit, and love as far as the old models, and turned them along with a few others into Stormboys. Also with a very angry Nob. He's actually one of my favorites.







Last and definitely not least, more kans. So I used to field 9 kans back in 3rd, it was a pretty good tactic since there weren't very good tanks and well, the models weren't really there so not many folks did that. At least in my gaming circles. These guys are once again some old models that I dug up and thought, well heck yeah!

So they are quite small compared to the new ones from GW, but I made the bases the same size. You have to figure that if there are TWO big meks running around, they have to have a grip of lovable grotties that would love to get into a little tiny armored suit and run amok.

Been working on my Space Marines more lately, which always takes more time. Lats night I felt a Waaaaagh like itch to fumble thrugh my stuff from RT and 2nd and see whatelse I can pull out and make use of. So I'm able to get like 60 more of the lads. My first conversions of these guys loooooong time ago were horrible and they were mostly just cut up and glued back with no thought for mold lines, seams, or really anything,, but the real horror was how they were painted, which has been thankfully washed away.

Anyway, here's a grip of old parts and my first assembled sluggas from the depths of my bitz box:











This is going to be fun, I should be able to get 2 slugga squads and a shoota boys freebooterz mob out of them. Then I'll beef up my old pewter mega nobs to see if they fit in with my scratch builts. I feel a lot of gubbinz coming on.

I'll right, there's the status of the horde so far.

Your work is really awesome! Its so inspiring to see someone who paints orks not as if they are just an easy green and go.

I love Orks, always have since I first started with 40k. They are like Space Rednecks/Barbarians. Not evil, not good, just there for the fighting. And the fungus beer.

Not to mention that I am just awful with tools. But I do have a little bit of Orky technology in me, if I think it'll work it does and no one knows why. Oh and all my home improvement is ugly too.

As usual my poor marines have need me more. (They take so much more time) Anyway, saw some Escalation bat reps on miniwargaming and had to do some STOMPA updates.

Of course, we are still in the early early sloppy WIP era of this thing, but it is coming along. I love this kit, lotsa cool parts.

Excuse the base coats, especially on the checks, very sloppy right now. But this should give an idea where I'm headed with it.

The big boy is back, like the colour scheme.

So, been working away on Space Marines. Decided it was time for a nice orky update. Well, it's an update, not so much nice.

Here is a rough (very) WIP shot of my little six Kans.



They really look terrible now, but they are metal coated and then based for yellow. I am going to be hitting them with black and metal again, so it was pretty sloppy. I am shooting for finishing these THIS WEEK.

That is my self challenge a thing a week as Jonathan Coulton would say.

Well.... Been a long time. I've been busy at work, so almost no painting in months. Those Killa Kans are exactly the same. Boo.

I was toying around with some things, then I pulled out some old models, and found my old pewter Ghazghkull. Really felt like I should paint him up.

My only regret (that I see) is that the skin tones aren't coming across from my crappy pics. Oh well, its not like I am going to win any Goldem Demons anyway, but he looks good on the damned table. Here's my MegaBoss!
