lol, Sure I'll play him and send him packing so fast, that he'll regret spending that much on metal minis and will maybe actually take the time to read the codex and find a viable playlist.

Exactly, when you have 30 lascannons, they are powerful, but not when you are facing down 120 orks or 'nids...

Except for the fact that those 30 lascannons can become 30 heavy flamers at a moments notice....
As was said, this list probably isn't the most competitive. But it is just...too out there for me. I would not be able to take the game seriously, at all.

Do people forget that the Jokaero have 3 weapons? The Lascannon, Heavy Flamer and something else. What was the third weapon again?
The all-jokaero list isn't that viable.
But the same list with space made for a normal squad or two of Death-Cultists/Warrior Acolytes is pure deadly.

They're guardsmen with WS1 S2, a 5+ invulnerable save, and digital weapons. They can shoot as a lascannon, multimelta, or heavy flamer. They also randomly buff their unit with better armor saves by 1, a 5+ invulnerable save, or 12" longer range, unless you have a bunch of them in one unit (5 or more) in which case that ability does nothing.

Yeah, they're potentially useful especially if used in a less asinine way but they aren't on the list of things you can get away with mindlessly spamming. Nine warrior acolytes and a jokaero gets you a ten-man squad with lascannon/multimelta/heavy flamer for an estimated 71 points. This configuration is used as an example for easy comparison with the Guard infantry squad, not because it is the most useful. I see some potential here for a squad that can rival guardsmen in some ways, especially once players have had time to figure out what works.
From what I remember in Guard some interesting stuff should happen when you go to the extreme low end. Unless they change it the basic warrior acolyte is cheaper than a guardsman, makings of a meatshield for the effective portion of the squad. It seems worth looking into.

Yeah, working out the math, it's not worth it to have more than 3 Jokaero per squad. Anymore than that, and you're approaching a point where their customization rule gains too many +1's to be used. I think 2 is the optimal number: you retain access to the full chart without having to worry about rolling the does nothing 1. At 3 Jokaero, you lose access to the +12" range roll as well.

Alright, this is more of a funny thing we picked up while reading the GK codex today. You can have an army of 30 lascannons. The list is as follows.
Cortez
3 henchman squads of nothing but monkeys at 350pts per squad.
You now have 30 BS4 lascannons aiming down field.
You can also have a possibility of Guardsman in terminator armor.
Has anyone else found these funny things hidden in the Grey Knight codex?
This gives me gas...
It's not that they're overpowered or even intimidating, it's that the monkeys are even included. Yet I know someone is going to paint up an expensive pile of these guys for the two seconds of 'cool' garnered by having such a force.
Yet, purely on principle I would love to meet this force on the table with the caveat that when I win I get to melt them down and have them recast as something purposeful...

What's the range on their lascannons? From what I understood digital weapons never had that great of range, and if they can shoot the full distance of a regular lascannon that's just ridiculous. I'd be all for sticking a basalisk in a corner and covering it with two chimeras, then let it rain on the stupid models.

Well they're lascannons, so it has the range of a lascannon.

The impression I got was that they had the same stats as a lascannon but the possibility of a different range because they are digital weapons. I've not read once that they magically have an actual lascannon sprout from their fingers or whatever, only that they have a digital weapon that simulated the effects. My apologies that you did not understand this.

this will anger you most likely but they do in fact carry magical rings that grant them the full effect of a heavy flamer/lascannon/multi-melta (choose 1 per turn). Actually the magic rings are better than the real thing because the monkey's can make those weapons shoot 12" farther or rend.
An army full of magic monkeys is not scary, although awesome in a nonsensical way. A Coteaz army full of crusader/death cult assassin squads and special weapon warriors with jokaero support is. scary.

Anger? Hardly. I was just curious about range, but actually fighting them will be fun. Gives me more incentive to run an infantry heavy IG force. So the flamers can pull a hellhound of sorts doing what I call a "tetris shot"? In other words if there's a unit your trying to burn behind a wall, you can shoot where the wall ends and rotate the template and hit all of them. The whole smaller end of the template closer than the larger end thing.
Edit - Provided you can see the model to target it

Disintegrate many more than 30 orks a turn with rending heavy flamers. After blowing up every vehicle they own from 60" away
edit for necroshea: No, the flamers cannot benefit from increased range, but all other weapons in the unit can. This is a bigger deal for things like 24" melta guns, and 36" plasma...
edit the second: also scary is the thought of rending 36" stormbolters, which is a combo you can pull off with warrior acolytes and jokaero on the cheap...
