Very cool and a bit different from the standard way might try that on some lighting claws!

THAT'S why I bought gloss varnish. Can't believe I forgot why. Seeing your vid I'll try a flame pattern with my Salamander's hammers. Thanks aplenty good sir.

I applied this technique to a power sword, and even though I made a thread showing it, it seems appropriate to put it here too.

That's the right view. I have since added gloss varnish (a step I forgot, but should really not be skipped, it adds a lot).

If you want to see the other side or see the pics of it in my gallery (to be able to zoom) I have them in my thread here (not to take away from Catattafish's thread. I hope you don't mind?).

This such an awesome technique! Like the poster above I will try and adapt it (hopefully as well as he has) for my powerfists and top of librarians staff.

I'm starting a new SM army, and am looking for new ways to paint the Power Weapon variants I have. Your tutorial on TH's seems very helpful! Can't wait to try it out.

I do get the idea of what you did!! next time, back the camera up so the fig is in focus, but I do get it! Thats great you are happy with your results! I can't really comment because of the pic quality but the most important part of any miniature, is how YOU feel about it, not some other person or critic! Good on ya !

Thanks for sharing guys!

BTW, I do have a lightning claw tutorial up

Nice tute.

Though, wouldnt the arcs and flares begin at points of impact. Ie. the striking edge?

Avatar, you are correct in that the hottest spot most likely would be where they strike an object. With a model just holding the item though, its kinda difficult to show that energy exists without having it strike something in a pose. I like the way the sword portrays the potential energy.

Unforgiven, I would think the reds would stick out pretty cool, but honestly greens or blues would stick out too! Its your preference really....
