Another great report. Seems like your son learnt a lot from the last game, and even though he lost his warp quake zone reasonably early he managed to hit back hard.

Thanks for posting, a great read.

If there is a lesson learned in this,
its that in 2v2 games Demons really should be allying with Eldar.

Runes of Warding shutting down Warp Quake and splatting GKs with perils 37% of the time would go a long way towards reducing the sickening area denial that is Warp Quake...

I mean I was blanching when I saw how much of the board was pretty much denied to the Demons, its disgusting.

I like that as a house rule: if the GK player brings/uses warp quake units, the daemon player can use a farseer!

Enjoyed your other batrep and this one immensely. 2 great looking armies, great scenery and great pics.

I think the format of your batrep is fine and builds up some drama whilst waiting for the next parts.

I have a question, I don't know much about Daemons and still have lots of questions in general regards to the game

Can the Herald do this as I thought you have to target the same unit and cannot split fire?

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

A certain Daemonic Gift allows certain daemons to fire multiple times at different units, and charge any of them if it chooses.

Thanks for posting. My first real look at both these armies. Great format and great looking armies.

I couldn't have rolled more ones if we were playing in binary.

Thanks. BTW, i like your stuff on CMON and I was wondering if your entire GK army was going to have that same source lighting effect.

That's encouraging. I think I might batrep one more GK vs Daemon game, this time with the Dawn of War deployment; that way I'll have tried out all three. My son says he is going to limit himself to just one warp quake unit so his Dad stands a chance ...

True that. To be honest, because of its cost, I often haven't used it. Generally, I've found at the beginning of a game (when you really need the shooting), there are rarely any marines sitting out in the open outside of their transports (long fangs excepted). As such, paying the upgrade price for splitting fire and for getting the anti-infantry Gaze shot hasn't been worth it. With GK, however, it does seem worth it, because to get the benefit of the GK's firepower, it requires leaving their transports.

Nice batrep!!

I think gk are another nail in the coffin for the elites section for daemons. Fiends were popular before, but they will become more so because of the ability to drop at the 18inch range and still be able to do something the next turn. Shooty princes and grinders, which have always been my favorites are still going to do pretty good. AV13 will be tougher for the str8 to get through. Heralds on chariots are still one of the best things in the game.

The only thing about the grey knight book I have a beef with is warp quake. It just messes over any sort of deep strike army, nids and daemons especially since they can't choose to start on the table. But it's also doing a number on drop pod lists as well. I'm curious to see the builds people end up with.

Great post I really like that you measure out the danger zone to really drive home how big a area it is.. Although I wonder if it actually helps you since in a tourney you would have to eye ball it a bit and here you get a nice visual of what area you need to shoot for to be safe. Once again great for effect it was just a thought I had when reading the report.

Yes, I think you are absolutely correct. Crushers are just too slow for warp quake and Flamers tended to require aggressively close drops (since they fall pretty easily to shooting).

Quite true. I would be significantly more likely in a tournament to misjudge the warp quake area without all those little dice to help me out. Of course, the point of including them was for illustrative/communicative purposes. In both games, we removed the dice after turn one so I could experience what it would be like in a "real" game to drop in against warp quake. I then added back the dice after the drop and scatter just for the photos, and then removed them, after the photos.

Is your son holding back by only running two small units of PAGK, or does he really not think much of them? In our group, PAGK bodies are considered a good thing - although this does increase the area of the board covered by warp quake.

Also, no strike squads?
