why the two meks? Automatically Appended Next Post: edit, i mean the meks in the lootas, they wont get to shoot at over half of the lootas target (48'' range vs 24'') you would be better with grots instead of these two mek, so you would have 3 scoring unit

Nice list, I like it. If it were ME, I'd replace 3 Rokkits with Grotzookas on the Kanz, cause Grotzookas are just THAT awesome.
Play it a couple of times and post a report for us on how it works out!

I personally dont like lootas. 150 points for 10 guys that if they loose a few they can run off.
Yes, they have good fire power, but any opponent who can see that they are your one good long range anti - armor fire will go after them first.
Also 2 range weapons on the Dreds are best. I would drop the riggers and just have the big meks fix them if they get immobalized.
Oh, also you want boss poles on your Nobz.

Everyone says 2 range weapons on the Deffs, but I LOVES ME SOME CHOPPY!
We'll see...
As for the boss poles. Do you really need them in a mob of 30 boys?

yes, you need the bosspole, because as soon as you hit 10 units, you will have leadership test to pass at 7, this allows you to reroll that leadership for a savable wound.
So for 5 point, your mob might stay in combat or give more meatshield for something.

Personally, I run 2 Dredds, one as a Troops, one as HS (usually). One's got 2 KMBs, one's got 2 DCCWs. I usually use them as flank marchers, and to pull Anti-armour fire from my Nob and Meganob wagons. The 4 CCW is nice in assault, especially against 'nids or other Dreads, (I tend to play like-vs like, with them- Kanz are for the Infantry, Dredds go after the big stompy stuff), but really, the extra CC attacks aren't all that useful when you're sloggin'. The KMB dred would probably be just as useful with Rokkits, but I like me my KMB spam. I spam those things like KingCrakka spams Rokkits. Anyways, the 2 Str.8 shots are good when advancing, allowing me to sometimes glance even Landraiders, and giving me a chance of basically pinning enemy vehicles there or taking out any anti-armour weapons they might have, for when I assault. Sometimes they can even pop a transport, allowing for the Dred to assault the squad inside.

@Dakkafang - Yeah, Lootas can be forced off the board with an unlucky morale save after a few casualties. But the firepower they dish out is more reliable than sticking Rokkits on a Deff Dread. I think they have good synergy with this list.
Especially if...
@lessthan1337 - unless you're playing an Annihilation game and you're worried about Kill Points, split your Lootas into two groups of 5. You'll be able to divide your fire, your opponent will need to kill TWO groups of Lootas to get them off the table, and with only 5 members in each squad, they make for a lower-priority target. You'll also be less prone to bad rolls for the number of attacks your Deffguns get, since you'll be rolling for 2 mobs instead of 1.
Let it be known that I always buy Bosspoles. That being said, when you have 30-strong mobs of Boyz, they are really not often needed. If you're really short on points and can't skimp anywhere else, you could probably do without them. That being said, all you need to do it take one Rokkit Launcha out of a Boyz squad to pay for 2 of em.
Personally I like how you've done your Dreads. Dreads aren't shooty, and if you equip them as such, they're just going to disappoint you. 1 Rokkit on each one is enough that you might get some damage out of them, but if you don't, you're headed into CC with them anyways, which is where they belong.
@Anvildude I'd point out that all the benefits you listed of Kustom Mega Blastas you'd get equally as well with a less-expensive Rokkit. The only thing the KMB brings to the table that a Rokkit can't do is being able to pop Terminators.

Lootas have a 48" range. Str 4 or lower weapons are generally 24" or less in range. Anti-tank weapons, other than melta, is generally longer range, high power, and low number of shots.
So, if your lootas are in the back, and in cover, your opponent will have to use anti-tank weapons to kill them. Yeah, it'll get the job done, but that's less AT hitting your kans/dreads. Who also mount AT themselves.
A big part of playing a successful ork army is causing your opponent to have targeting priority confusion. Having to pick between lootas and kans is a good example of this type of confusion.

why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

Dreads can be used for many different purposes some are to cut up everything in close combat. second destroy big this such as tanks with rokkits and CCW. third shoot the units with big shootas then finish them in CC so i would magnetize my weapons so i can change them for different games.

Heheh, we should make this a poll on the front page
1. 2 CCW
2. CCW / Rokkit
3. 2 Rokkit
For real, though, you guys are the best. After I get my dread confusion settled I'll be good to go. I'll definitely split the lootas into 2 mobs, and I like the idea of adding Grots. Armor plates and riggers on the dreads instead of poles in the 30 boy hoards.
I need to buy some stuff! (I need the BigMeks, lootas and 3 more kans... and some boys... I've got about half of this list, lol)

TBH, the rokkits arent a great thing on a dread.
against AV12:
1/3 to hit.
4 to glance, 5-6 to pen. (50% chance of any damage)
After that you need a 5-6 to wreck or pop it.
Gets worse as the AV goes up.
I liked to run 9 kanz with rokkitz due to BS3 and volume of fire.
Then 2 dreadz as troops with 2 skorchas each.
The fact that BS is no issue with the skorcha really does help to no end.
By doing this you then have 2 dreads that are capable of thinning out units then rushing into assault straight away.
