Hello everyone,
Thank you all for the positive feedback!
My sister went on a trip to Europe for a month and took our "good" camera with her so for now I'm going to have to see what I can do to get pictures up.
@Bigfish, my own thoughts surrounding the beastlord have been similar to yours. I'm not sure if he's uhhh heroic(?) enough to be one of my HQ's for te army, so if I can think of a better alternative, I'll just use this guys as a normal thunderboar cavalry model.
The army is going to be composed of 4 basic thunderboar models and 3 beastlords on thunderboars to form a deathstar unit. So this guy might be "demoted" to one of the fast attack choices.
Any thoughts on what I can use instead for my lords? I've considered using a metal beastlord from the beastmen range, but I'm worried it'll be too difficult to convert.
@Skalk - thanks alot for the comments!
I completely agree with your opinion of my dipping and it didn't create a negative vibe at all. I really wish I had the painting skills to match my converting skills (which I'm proud of) but sadly, dipping is all that really works for me.
I decided to dip cause I wanted the paint scheme of the models to at least look decent and I know that painting at my non-dipped level just wouldn't do them justice.
This is my first army so I haven't had too much experience painting.
I'm gonna purchases a can of matte varnish, which has been known to make dipped models much better by remving the shine, so I'll hopefully get that soon.
Thanks!
Hoping for pics ASAP!

ive seen your green stuff work... i reckon you can do it, easy.
but tbh i dont think it would be the best option, because if your are making it like your other beast marines then your only really going to be useing the arms legs and head. so you wound have just bought a model that you are only using bits from, and not only that but they are bits you can get in the normal beastmen sprue. if i was doing it i would buy the bestigor plastic box set and use bits from that. that way when/if you come to do other characters or important models you have bits that look more menecing and hard then rank and file troops and you have the added plus that they are plastic so are easy to convert and mess around with.
anyway hope this helps.

I'd still like to see some pics of your work before you dip them. Have you tried basic colors and then a GW wash like Devlin Mud or Badab Black or Griffon Sepia (or any combination of layered washes). Or trying a completely different kind of dip? If you are using thew kind of stuff you get at the hardware store, opinions vary but mine is to stop using it and spend a few extra dollars to purchase a product made to do the job you are using it for, like this:
http://www.thewarstore.com/product39120.html
My Dakka buddy Rabid Ferret used it on his Guard. Granted he is an excellent artist but don't get hung up on that, the results of the dip job are what I'm trying to highlight. Won't post the pics on this page because I don't want to derail / hijack away from your work, but please do check out his work. The difference between before dipping and after dipping is really worth seeing and worth comparing.

Hello everyone and sorry for my absence,
Like I said a few weeks ago, my sister was in Europe for the past month and took our cameras with her. But she's back now and I have new stuff to show! For now, I have completed my first thunderboar cavalry lord so here are some pics:
I will say now that I'm not happy with the way he is "sitting" or leaning on the boar and I'll probably be sculpting some stirrups for him. For the other two I'll be repositioning their legs to actualy be in more of a sitting pose.
And some flash
I realize the pictures aren't the best right now, but I'll try to get some better ones up soon. Also, I have an undipped model to show what my painting skills are like before the dip and I'l post those pics up too.
I'm looking into picking up a new finecast model of Malagor the Dark Omen so I can use him as a Rune Priest in my army.
Comments/criticism are greatly appreciated.

That boar is massive and looks great! The color scheme really ties it together. I don't think the positioning of the rider is bad but I agree that some stirrups would add to the model and remove the "how is he staying on that thing?" question.
Looking forward to seeing your undipped work!

WOW! makes me want to do the beastman pack for my IG army( let's see hhow many old timers like me know the reference). I agree with the stirrups for the Thunderboar riders, but I like the leaning pose because it looks very aggresive. I might be able to help with missle launchers if you are interested. I have ssome IG ones ,pm me if you are interested.

Thank you everyone!
First of all I must apologize because while I had my finecast Malagor the Dark Omen painted and ready to be photographed before being dipped, my mind blanked out or something and I only relized that I forgot to take pics as I was brushing the dip on.
I'm really happy with how this model turned out and I put alot of time into painting it before the dip went on.
The pics are bright because I used the camera flash this time and it reacted with the shine from the dip.
He will be used as my rune priest with jump pack and I have started on a squad of bloodclaws to go with him.
Next model I paint will have pre-dip photos!

How did I miss this update?
I really ike the colors you have on this one, the contrast is very stark and bright, brings out the detail like the on the glyphs on his scythe and the stitching on his cloak. Looking really good, hoping more is coming!
