Now this is a good idea! Desperate times right? Count me for Papa Nurgle, probably the least malevolent of the chaos gods. Sure you would get bloated and festering but that whole feel no pain thing would really come in handy if you had an arm bitten off by a rampaging yrmgal!!

I'll bet a nurgle cult could spread faster than a genestealer cult as well.

It would be like the Priors in Stargate.
Unleash a horrible plague onto the world, that will inevitably lead to a slow and painful death- the only cure is complete devotion to Pappa Nurgle.

The genestealers slow and steady infiltration wouldn't have any thing on that.

If we catch on to them, paranoia will spread, leading to genetic screenings and the public will begin killing anyone who is suspicious (the weird looking guy down the street). That solves the hybrid problem, genestealers themselves would much more difficult.

I think I'll follow the pyro mantra on how to deal with said threat:

Seeing as how there are very few modern mutations (other than minor ones like blue/green eyes, blond hair, albinism etc.) and we would definitely notice the little freaks. Of course we would probably assume they were just ugly leprechauns who were very talented in CC...

The thing is, our society does not tolerate discrimination or genocide. And Genestealer hybrids, unlike zombies, are sentient and intelligent enough to use their political rights. If warfare doesnt work, they could always resort to a discrimination claim, which is pretty serious in our time. In 40k, the inquisition would just nuke the hell out of them. Part of how 40k turns everything up to 11: The Discrimination is insane, but necessary for survival.

Yes, but our over-active imaginations and video games have prepared us for the zombie/mutant/hybrid/robot apocalypse. After all, what could kill a nerd with an Xbox controller?

Haha, that's an excellent point there. I could easily see lawyers flocking to the banner of an endangered and misunderstood alien creature, all alone in the galaxy. Damn Hippies!

I think our biggest downfall would be the realization humanity itself is being attacked by something from space that isn't a typical alien invasion that we seem to be programmed into believing will happen. By the time we realize these "mutations" are actually a species override, it would likely be too late. Somebody above said it perfectly, it would be a discrimination to hate these "different" people right away because the hybrids would start off in the hundreds and our world would look to "Did enemies in the middle east use a form of biological warfare? oh those poor children :( " or something of the such.

We'd be pretty F'd. All they have to do is quickly infect a couple of people. We would have no idea what was going on until it was too late. If you don't understand that, then you need to read more about them.

The thing is, you would never see the obvious Hybrids. The coven hides and is very secretive, it uses hypnotized humans to do the grunt work while it grows.

Wow, have I been surprised. I thought people would show that their is a way for modern, sometimes logical, humans who believe in the scientific method could find a way to discover and defeat the genestealers without becoming a dystopian state. I find this to be extremely funny a a lot of people like to disparage the Imperium for being paranoid and xenophobic and yet it helps them find and terminate genestealers over all their million worlds while we so called modern humans can't even destroy genestealers on one world- our own homeworld. How sad and pathetic.

I find that this statement from another forum website declares my feeling on the Imperiums xenophobia-

For all it get's the piss taken out of it. The Warhammer 40k Imperium is xenophobic and genocidal for good reasons. Genestealers are one of those reasons.

I agree with those posters who say that our mostly star trek like morals will get us to become part of the brood mind. But their might be some hope; its been stated that genestealer hybrids are go on world-conquering spree (which happens when they're quite sure of success, or when approaching 'Nid fleet takes control of them), cultists tend to be exceptionally loyal and hardworking citizens, never complaining about taxes, and taking great interests in private schools and orphanages and are actually more peaceful(unless threatened) than humans especially toward each other as they believe wholeheartedly in family and lots of children. There are no Tyranid Hive fleets so genestealers won't overthrow us to prepare us to be eaten by Tyranids, the human race will simply be breed-ed out until all that remains are genestealer hybrids who have complete internal harmony amongst themselves.

I was in quite a considerable amount of discomfort lastnight, couldn't get to sleep so channel hopped for a while.

I don't know what was going on but Steven Seagal had about 5 of his movies on, all at the same time. It was incredible. If he can be in all these places at once - that's all you need - his Russian accent alone is enough to kill a 'stealer or two

We could do a genetic test screen of everyone on the planet, if they have something 'weird', burn them, or better yet torture them first & extract any information they have, then burn them, burn anyone connected to them...oh...might as well just do what the Imperials would do and BURN THE ENTIRE PLANET

Most gamers would break themselves trying to fire a gun needed to kill a genestealer. They are faster than most people can see, but alas most gamers don't do to well at things other than games. Besides Hybrids are al ittle tougher than the normal person. IT would be like gamers vs the 1984 Chicago bears. but the bears are full of alien DnA. They might choke on a gamer or something, there is that risk.
