I don't think it's just you! I agree, generally.
What I recall is the last tyranid codex where the army became 'GODZILLA' in stead of the swarm, how it was always written and fictionalized. 6 carnifexes and a hive tyrant do not a swarm make, it was an egregious departure from the story arcs. I think the giant creatures could be the same way in WHFB, and I think that's concerning, especially if the big single models crowd out the other units in the game because they are effective and easier to play and paint.
I wouldn't want to see this in the armies forum:
What do you think of my tomb kings army?
Tutenmummy General
5 skeletons
5 skeletons
Sphinx
Sphinx
Sphinx
It would ruin the game, well, more. WHFB ought to be about regiments, I hope the large creatures have some sort of limits, as now it is a definite trend.
EDIT: Obviously Malfreds fault!

And your sign would be wrong anyways, as there were complaints about Mat Ward in Background on Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday.

Unfortunately when it doesn't it seems out of place, in a bad way. The spider was cool, the stegadon also cool... the dreadknight made me lose faith in GW's artist's taste.
But now imagine if the Dreadknight had been a psychically driven construct, with no pilot, that fought alongside a Grey Knight Brotherhood Champion or Grandmaster and carried a Nemesis Force Sword and an oversized Storm Shield, with a stormbolter built into the shield.
It suddenly becomes a lot cooler. Even if one can just say it's a warjack.
I would rather it look like a variant of the dreadnought design.

The necrosphinx is amazing. Looking at it in the artwork makes it even better. People love to see pictures with massive, city sized monsters and GW's models are becoming that. There hasn't been a single model I remember that has been released since January I think is ugly. The dreaknight actually looks really freaking awesome. As does the spider.

Considering that your Sphinx's really aren't great, I'd be ok going against that army with my "all points into a horde of Bloodletters GO" army.

If they're Warsphinxes instead of NecroSphinxes, a few rounds of Crew attacks + Thundercrush + Thunderstomp(with a couple rounds of breath weapons thrown in) could put a huge horde of Letters in for some hurt coupled with their T8(and maybe the spell that gives models, including each crew member, +1 A).

Don't care for grey nights or tomb kings. Just not the bravery factor i like; that's why i use Guardsmen(and dwarves later in the year) so i tend to avoid the giant monsters. Just doesn't feel as cool to me.
But i think they are going a wee bit over the top; you see the 360 view on that sphinx thing?
