That's exactly what I was going to say (first four quotes)
We said that Vulcan was the equivalent, and yes, the Greek mythology is the original, romans came in after.
Hera threw him, and as DijnsK said he fell for 9 days and nights
Prometheus was chained to a rock using Hephy's chains. A raven would come every day and eat his innards, but since he was immortal they would regenerate. Prometheus is also the creator of the humans, along with his brother. He stole fire from mount olympus, which is why he was banished. A new kind of fire was found some years ago, though it is incredibly unstable et cetera, so they called it promethium.
I think the army's uniformness is fine..
I've been gone for a little while but I'm back, at least for now.

Automatically Appended Next Post: I also love the reference to Hepheastus, the god of forges, blacksmiths etc in a master forge army. Very clever
not only is hepheastus god of forges blacksmiths and metallurgy, he is also the greek equivalent of Vulcan
That's 'cause the Roman gods are more or less copies of the Greek gods with Latin names instead of Greek ones. Rome became strong after Greece began to fail in power until the Romans conquered them, then Egypt shortly afterwards. Which led to Rome starting it's own Empire building. Common knowledge I'm sure you know about and all, but it irks me when Rome is put before Greece in comparisons.
All of that aside I love the marbling you did with the Thunder hammer and hope to see more of it, and can't wait for that short tutorial you mentioned about it.
*has only read up to this post. sorry if it's been touched on already.* I'll continue the post after reading the rest.
Edit after reading everything else. Damnit it was touched on already xD
Oh well, whatever.
That's a dead sexy dreadnaught. Good luck to you with yours. The bases look fantastic so far. I should really start doing more basing with my own T_T

For your Sons of Hephaestus army, I do have a few suggestions. In real life, there were several groups which were religiously dedicated to Hephaestus. There were also several groups of mythological figures dedicated to him. Looking these up might give you some more ideas. Checking on Wikipedia for more info on the Palici, the Cyclopes, and the Cabeiri would be a good start (as these are all groups either real or mythological associated with Hephaestus).
Now, here's the downside. Hephaestus is a Greek god. In Roman mythology (which is pretty much Greek myth with different names) Hephaestus was called Vulkan. And as you probably already know, there is already a Chapter with a Primarch named Vulkan, who have strong themes of forges, fires, and a long history of craftsmanship and dedication to metalwork. The Salamanders.
If you don't have a problem with the similiarity though, I don't see a reason why anyone else should. If you ever make it to Southern Illinois, we can see how Salamanders stack up against Sons of Hephaestus.

well look at that coincidence... the Sons of Hephaestus happen to be a successor chapter of the Salamanders so yes, there are lots of similarities, and they are meant to be there
thanks for the suggestions for new angles though, i know for example that hephaestus made some sort of animatrons, which are kind of like robotic walkers... but closest thing to them are dreads, as space marines dont use "robot walkers"
thanks for your interest
ive attached a text document with all the fluff and chapter info i currently have
@ raccoon,
yep you are right, planned from the beginning

if 1 is equal to 0 then 0 is equal to 1... and i believe the greek where first...

hera, his mother, threw him out of the heavens, and he fell for 9 days and nights before hitting earth

that was Prometheus, he was chained to a rock with chains made by hephaestus though
TheWildHost wrote:Good pics, Hate my friends SM( THe Pariahs he has no color sceme he just randomly paints. He has Gold Sarges though( Gold With black gold studded shoulder pads) his lack of uniform pisses me off)
hehe ill try to be more uniform, but the are an army of crafters, so it might vary a bit...
Thats how my menoth look and how my Dark Eldar look at the moment as i try to figure out were to go with them
Wherever and whenever they appear they leave only destruction in their wake; they are the Lords of Death, Bringers of War. The Dark Angels.
Oh, you think the darkness is your ally, but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!- Helen Keller
