I don't the issue with pointing out how amusing it is to have someone 'tailor' towards MEQ only to get bowled over by a substandard list. Than complain that it's a rock and I rolled below average.

Great batreps, very entertaining!
Sorry for your bad luck, I always hate it when my dice are against me. Sucks charging 5 assault marines into 6 FW and losing combat by 1
I also agree that playing against GK is frustrating, they are so hard to kill! However, eldar is almost equally frustrating as they constantly doom and fortune everything. (at least in my circles).
keep em coming!

I like your Eldar list, but why the SS? I personally would have gone with another choice, but that's just me. Do you have good luck with them, typically?

Yes its from memory. Alot of my memory is based on the pictures.
uhh as far as the spelling , I appreciate you read my battle reports that closely! Im not a very good speller, im also writing these battlereports pretty late at night so im tired. Ill go through and fix some of the mistakes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Reecius wrote:I like your Eldar list, but why the SS? Good question.
I play Mechdar. The stregth of Mechdar is mobility to contest objectives and to survive, and the str 6 spam that is good against Rhino's , Chimeras , and general infantry.
The weakness of Mechdar is killing AV12+ , and killing MEQ Infantry.
This is a hybrid mechdar list that "tries" to combat both of those problems.
With my Autarch's I have a HUGE threat. Im able to take 2 melta guns on BS6, with a Range of 24' with movement. My Autarch's allow me to take down drednoughts which have been giving me alot of trouble. Not Only do they have that, but they also have 5 str6 close combat power weapon attacks at inititive 10. In theory I could go up to a rhino, blow it up, and then assult the squad inside whiping it. I did it during test games, and I really like the mobility and kill power the autarch's give me. Not only do they do all that, but they give a +2 reserve roll to allow my army a GURENTEED alpha strike. This is why I bring autarch's.
Because Im running a double autarch list, described above, what units do I bring to give synergy to my autarchs? The Elite slots are filled. The HQ slots are filled. The heavy slots are filled. I could bring another dire avenger wave serpent? What would that do? Give me another tank and another squad. Yea thats a decent option, but unfortunantly then my Autarch's are the obvious kill target.
I bring shining spears for target priority. People can either target my shining spears, my autarchs, or my fire dragons. This triple threat was my idea for this army.

I'm loving the battle reports man, great painted armies, your eldar are top notch, my only quibble is with your 5th game opponent, regarding his Tomb Spyder.
I don't think your opponent was cheating (granted I don't know his tournament background, his online presence, etc...)... It just seems to be a blanketed statement that you accused him of cheating when he did just what his codex told him to do, he rolled his d6 while spawning his scarab swarms (looking at your Necron turn 1 picture, you clearly see 0 scarab swarms, but on Eldar Turn 1 you can see the spyders with their swarms), and he must have rolled a 1 on one of the rolls because one spyder has a marker and the other doesn't.
I'm not sure about you, but if I saw my opponent placing markers on his models I would ask what the heck is going on, alleviating any future stress and misinformation, but this is probably because I'm still a noob in most cases (only been playing since November). I'm only thinking that you didn't think anything of it at the time was because you only put up a single picture of his turn up, meaning you probably only took a few. Whereas your turn you used more pictures, even though you did basically the same thing (moved, no shooting, etc...)
Keep up the battle reports man, those eldar are too stunning to not see picture of.

I was frusterated because my opponent didnt announce what he was rolling for and didnt announce when the tomb spider took a wound.
I also asked him how many wounds the model had right before I shot and he lied. I asked if 2 meltas would insta kill the model and he said no.
I could have shot 1 melta at a time and multi assulted.

I can understand if you said how many wounds and he said three, it does have three. Occasionally you need to be more specific with that kind of thing and say 'how many wounds remaining' or 'how many wounds left'

My batreps display what I honestly am thinking during the game. Not only do I show you what happened, I tell you what im thinking as the game unfolds. If you dont like honesty dont read my battle reports. Automatically Appended Next Post: calypso2ts wrote:I can understand if you said how many wounds and he said three, it does have three. my opponent rolled something wothout my knowledge, and marked it with sonething I wasnt familiar with. I honestly have no idea if it actually took a wound, or of he just made it up when I wasnt looking to avoid my assult.
My opponent knew the intent of my questions and mislead me. I could have easily rolled both melta guns separately. I asked how many wounds the models had and he said 3. I asked of melta guns could instant kill the model and he said no.
He mislead me to achiev a 400+ point advantage. I personally dont mislead people and I dont like it when people mislead me.
Let me assure you my questions were direct. I told him I was going to multi assult and didnt want to insta kill the model. He gave me answers to mislead me.

Instead of asking to see your opponent's codex when a rule confuses you, instead of asking to see your opponent's codex when you don't know the profile of something, instead of paying attention to your opponent's rolls when making swarms and then asking about the rule that you didn't know about, instead of "causing drama" you 'let it go' and go into an internet forum to call him a cheater and cause drama there - somewhere he cannot defend himself. Somewhere we only get one side of the story. It is amazing that he was psychic enough to know exactly what you were going to do before you did it, down to which model he needed to remove. Oh, that's right, you told him your entire battleplan. While you were doing that, you didn't happen to notice him sneak a wound counter onto a model. Because that's what people do - they give wounds to models before you've even rolled to hit in hopes that you'll roll to hit and roll to wound so he can foil your dastardly plan. That's what I do, I go ahead and remove entire models before they've been shot to try to foil my opponent. Really?
If someone is doing something that deserves to net them a 0 for Sportsmanship, it better be something that I couldn't have prevented. Maybe you should pay more attention to your game. Also, it's funny to me that Spellbound didn't mention having any trouble with Eric and you commented that he was a cool guy in that thread, while simultaneously raking him over the coals in this one.
Oh, and your disdain for Grey Knights and the people that choose to play them. I don't think it takes much skill to play Leafblower IG, but I give my opponent the respect that his army deserves and the respect that he deserves as a fellow gamer for choosing the army he did. Maybe he chose Grey Knights because he likes the thought of small units of elite warriors? Maybe he did it to be the FotM player. Either way, you shouldn't lump people that you don't know into this category because of army choices that they make.
Also your attitude when things start going south for you. Among other things. . .
As for reading your batreps, you're right, I don't have to. This was the first set of yours I ever read. The first two were okay, but once you started losing, your attitude seemed to get worse and worse. Maybe Sportsmanship lumped you into the bottom bracket? I don't know how many times I heard you blame luck and dice. It's like Poker - you think the same people do really well in the 40K tournament circuit because they are the luckiest people alive? Maybe it's because they have special dice? Or maybe not. . .
Sorry reds8n, he goaded me.

Sorry reds8n, he goaded me.
Your entitled to your opinion. I gave an honest reconlection of my battles over a weekend, and if you dont like it thats fine. Are my emotions justified? Im not really sure. I wrote how I felt, and if you dont like it then I dont really think you like my stlye of battlereports.
When I have an 80% chance to do something, and I put my army in a chance to acomplish a task by 80% , I expect it to happen. When I fail repeated 80% attempts, and I mean like 10+ , it gets frusterating. Fire dragons failing to destroy a venom, and 2 ravagers. Shining spears getting whiped out by broadsides in close combat. Goot Matchups that have an 80% chance of success fail, it gets frusterating. During the tournament I felt frusterated due to a complete lack of things happening during the magority of my games. Mabe your the kind of person who isnt competitive? Mabe your the kind of person who doesnt let back dice get you down? Personally when I fail attempts all day when I have the favor, its frusterating, and in my battle reports I express how I feel when a result goes unexpected.
As far as grey knights in general I feel that they are an overpowered codex that counters eldar. My Wave serpent, a heavy grav tank that costs 115 points has 4 strength 6 shots. A Grey Knight single infantry models can bring a Heavy 4 Str 7 Shot that is rending. Im not really sure how other people feel about grey knights, but my personal opinion is that their shooting is overpowered. When a player brings a deathstar list, and has units that literally have no dis-advantage, I dont really find the game entertaining as it doesnt matter what my opponent does, his actions dont matter. My Grey Knight opponent is carried by his codex, and with the amount of tactical blunders he made I dont really feel that he deserved the win. I personally dont enjoy kill point games vs. Deathstar Grey Knights. I voiced my opinion in my battle report, and If you disagree I understand.
As far as the Necron game goes, I dont think I made myself very clear.
Me "Eric I want to multi assult into your tombspider and your destroyers, so I dont want to kill the tombspider"
Me "Eric how many wounds does the model have with the swarm"
Eric "The tombspider has 2 wounds and the swarm has one"
Me "So Two melta's cant auto kill the squad"
Eric "No its toughness 6"
Me "Ok 2 wounds on the squad"
Eric "Removes the models from the table"
Me "Eric you just told me the squad had 3 wounds, how did 2 wounds remove the squad"
Eric "In a pervious phase I rolled and caused a wound when I was making swarms"
Me "Eric did you declare this to me, I had no idea the model had taken a wound, now I cant multi assult your warriors"
Eric "Gives me a blank stare".
When it comes down to it, Eric mislead me and I wasnt happy about it. I planned a multi assult into his destroyers, and I made perfectly clear what my motives were, and I made it perfectly clear what I was asking. He chose to mislead me, and he withheld information from me in order to gain a benefit. I think thats the definition of cheating. If you disagree with me thats fine, I dont really care lol. I felt cheated, you arnt me, so Im not sure why you are arguieng with me. I felt cheated, I said how I felt cheated. Are my emotions something that are wrong?
I dont hold anything vs. Eric. Mabe it was a misunderstanding? I talked to him alot through the day and I dont hold anything to him. I felt like he cheated me at warhammer, but Im not going to hold that against him lol.
Im not really sure what you want from me to be honest. I expressed how actions made me feel, and you post negatively for me being honest. Obviously you dont like my personality as it quircks you. If you dont find this explanation efficient than I would suggest you just dont read my battle reports anymore, as I have no need to change what I feel and still do feel about my games.

I like your army list and play style alot, as well as your way of writing the batreps! Thumbs up!
I also wanna thank you - i have been inspired by this and by your earlier army lists as well. I can tell we have a very similar play style (you are just a better general than me, but i can learn...), though I use a jet council instead of guardian jetbikes + jet-autarchs + spears. I actually use it in a similar general role (meaning i dont too often, but sometimes, stuff it it down my opponents throat, but use it to create as no-mands land ahead of my tank fleet, to countercharge etc. IN general to intercept what gets close to my tanks).
Earlier on i tried playing a bit with double autarch builds, and i think i wanna go back an try that. I might try out your exact list!
I think you played well, and used the reserves VERY optimally! Thats one thing that very inspirational for me! Thx.
So congrats on your prize!, and you can be very happy abut going 5-2 with that amount of, i agree, unluck at critical times.
Keep up the good gaming, will look forward on your next batrepts, and i for one hope for similar level of detail!

#1. I am no Mech Eldar expert, but I thought your list could be improved by a farseer.
#2. It seems like you have 312 points tied up in troops that don't do anything other than being scoring units.
#3. I am surprised that you did not go into desperation mode with Dash. That means ramming and tank shocking. One of the biggest weaknesses of Dark Eldar is their leadership and the Beastmasters having only Leadership 8 you have a chance to make them run.
#4. You seem to have bad luck, (And Dash always has great luck). The first thing is that odds of razorwings killing a wave serpent that moves 12" are very long. (24 attacks with 6 to hit and 6s to rend, and then roll a 3+ to penetrate).
#5. You had bad luck again. You had the right tools to deal with the Grey Knight army in round #4. but if he is going to make 7/9 5+ Invulnerable saves there is nothing that you can do.
#6. I do not know why you hate Grey Knights so much. The meta game has moved so far into MSU armies (like yours) that when a Deathstar army shows up in a KP mission, everyone freaks out. The Deathstar armies feel the same way about you army in an objective mission.

A farseer is a great unit I agree. I mainly didnt bring a farseer because I wanted to say I ran a double autarch in a tournament( lol). A Farseer with doom wouldnt help me, the magority of my army wounds on 2's. Guide wouldnt help me, the only real guide target is the falcon. Farseer on a jetbike with fortune perhaps? Yea I might as well run a farseer council. I basically wanted the triple threat of 2 autarchs with meltaguns and a shining squad, farseer's have their place but I wanted my +2 reserve rolls!
Yes this is true. Scoring units are important and because I had five I won game #1, #2, #5. . Its also how I unlock my wave serpents. If I bring squads of 10 dire avengers (which is a cool unit) I need to bring doom, and a farseer. I also needed Jetbikes for my Autarchs to absorb wounds. jetbikes might have won the game for me in game 5 when they assulted the destroyers. Besides that yea they didnt do a whole lot and thats a downside for this army. Any suggestions you were thinking? Even when I bring squads of 10 storm guardians and squads of 10 dire avengers, they usually end up not doing a whole lot, so I try to minimize it. But yea my troops dont do a whole lot.
Didnt dash's beastmasters have the baron with them so they would be LD10? As far as tank shocking and ramming yea thats a valid point. I think my reasoning for not doing that was the magority of dash's anti tank is 18' blasters, so I was trying to kite the blaster range although he was able to keep me in it with stuns. I also had a scoring unit in a weaponless wave serpent that I was going to use to capture the top objective. Interesting point tho. I rammed a DE skimmer game 6, against dash my main goal was to get out of blaster range.
His flock killed 2 wave serpents that moved 12' , then he killed a stunned falcon. that squad ate me rofl.
His Invul saves were insanity. I really should have kited my shining spears and autarch around the back board edge and used my 3 fire dragons as suicide. Im not really sure why I was so aggressive with those units.
I dont hate grey knight players, I just really have some problems with the GK army. Whenever I play grey knights, I get shot up by psycannons and auto cannon dreds. Even if I have cover or turbo boost an obscene number of shots make it through.I have a terrible record against grey knights. They out shoot me, out assult me, and are faster than I am (with stormravens). My main problem with GK armies is that I dont feel that they outplay me , I just feel like they rush over me like a wave and theres nothing I can do about it. A Grey Knight player can put any unit he wants into the open and it doesnt matter, whenever any of my units take any shots they just fall apart. I also really dont like shrouded stormravens, I think its broken. I also dont like Str8 Autocannons, you have a mathmaical 3.6 Str8 Hits per Dred per turn, Im not sure how that isnt broken. I also dont like psycannons, A squad of troops having 8 str7 rending is just to much coupled with dreds. I dont really feel like theres anything I can do to gain momentum against grey knights.
As far as a deathstar army doing well in kill points, and a mechdar army doing well in objectives, I agree that its a fair tradeoff. Although.......it doesnt mean when I get a deathstar in killpoints im not going to complain, and when you get mechdar in objectives you wont complain.
I know you play GK and a deathstar army. I dont have anything against you, I just dont find playing a paladin army tactically stimulating because theres not a whole lot I can do.
Thanks for the insight, Ill think about eldar troop choices but unfortunantly I kinda feel like thats the weakness with the eldar codex in general.

Clearly this list could be improved by adding a Farseer, but then you lose the second Autarch, which means your reserves game goes from being almost guaranteed to passable at best and your assault punch also drops from being pretty good to 'kill a combat squad then die'. My biggest issue has always been the removal of psychic defence rather than the re-roll you get from Guide/Doom. No Eldar troop unit does much more than be a scoring unit tbh, Bladestorming Avengers and Tri Flamer Guardians are the best we have and they aren't great by any means. Most of the killing power comes from the Serpents, which is decent but still pretty expensive and generally sub par in a 5th edition environment. The Jetbikes are a liability most of the time as Smitty found out, but they are still the cheapest way to get another mobile scoring unit into a list. @ Smitty. Most of the issues you had are ones which can generally be avoided if you know the rules inside out. For most people knowing how almost every unit in every codex works is a bit much to ask, but if you are aiming for the top tables knowing all the rules for the stuff you are facing is pretty important. A large part of this is experience though, if for example you don't play Necrons much/at all or come up against some other army or combination of units you haven't seen before then the first time through you need to be very methodical to make sure you don't miss stuff. Not saying it was your fault by any means (particularly if the exchange above is accurate), mostly trying to point out that issues like that tend to disappear the more games you play. Regarding the Grey Knights, I definitely think you are missing the point of that Deathstar list. It definitely doesn't have no disadvantages, in fact I would rate it as a pretty terrible competitive list because it has almost no killing power and very limited mobility. Its not a great matchup for a KP mission, but because he completely wasted two of his units by outflanking them you had a great opportunity to be very aggressive and crush what he had before they arrived. For the most part you executed this fine (you probably could have protected the Dragons against assault from the unit you weren't shooting at but minor point) its just your dice totally failed you. Its rough losing to lists like that, but you will get games where the dice just refuse to co-operate. I've faced 4 Land Raider lists at 1850pts with a list with 3 Fire Dragons and lost 4 skimmers in the first turn (yes to Lascannons), sometimes you just can't do anything but laugh at how badly things are going. In any case I would far rather face that list you faced than a list with 6 Riflemen Dreads (which are statistically about the same as a unit of Long Fangs or Devastators). They are the only things I really fear in GK lists, not the 24" range Psycannons which I can outrange/force to keep moving and all the assault uberness that is wasted against my vehicles and 5 man Dragon/Avenger units.

The trick to the Beast unit for DE is that the Flocks are only T3. So if you can put enough wounds to get past the Khymeras and whatever else, S6 will instant kill them and they have only a 6+.
Eh, when somebody is considering targeting my multi-wound model and asks 'how many wounds' I tell them how many it has left. How many wounds it had to start with isn't a useful piece of information.
As for the last game, I can only assume he didn't know what Fire Prisms did? Who in their right mind bunches up like that against any army with any template weapons at all?
EDIT: Why didn't you just charge those Destroyers anyway? All bikes have relentless, so they can shoot something (spyder) and charge something else (destroyers) unless you couldn't reach. In which case nothing you could do would get to those destroyers.

I agree that our troops choices with the current codex + meta CAN'T do a whole lot. Well except for scoring,, which IS their most important job. And thats why in general the most competetive mech eldar builds just almost only min sixe avengers squads, that can "just" score.
Well at least, in short, i think we mostly see around 3 minsize avenger squads in most mech eldar builds, because we dont have meaningful competetive troop choices. At leasst not in this complete mech-heavy meta. If every one used footslogging armies... bladestorm avenger squads (+ guide & doom seer) would be rocking.
Now IF our codex gave special weapons options for avengers - 2-3 per squad, like IG vets, DE warriors, CSM etc - (AND a fire point from our grav tanks, im just wishing...), THEN wel would se the troop choices doing something again, would also cut down on our fire dragons reliance/spam. Then we would see 4-5 avenger squads with meltas/plasma (or whatever name they would hav) in most armies.
Well or if (storm) guardians were BS4 and could get 3 specials...(that alone would bring the guardians back enmasse i think)
Wil will have to wait for a new codex for that though.

I dont think this is true, I thought relentless allowed you to move and shoot heavy weapons, and allows you to assult after shooting heavy weapons Im pretty sure I cant shoot at one thing then assult another......(goes to consult rulebook to make sure)
@lordofmuck , Hurray for an older codex!

Am I remembering a 4th ed rule?
EDIT: Yup, remembering a 4th ed rule. Too many editions in my brain, and not enough games in 5th. I remember most of the rules, but tend to spit out ones from random editions.

Maddening Mutant Boss of Chaos

I almost never post in Bat Reps. However, I feel I must. Even if it is to go over points already discussed.
I will say some nice things first though Like the look of the army, and the list. I myself enjoy the dual autarch action of Mech Eldar. I also very much appreciate the time you took to take all those photos and post them. Bat Reps without photos are painful. And congrats on the award and loot.
Now to the criticism:
Your reports for games 5-7 are just plain bad.
Game 5 and your hatred for GK is just laughable. You hate Death Stars, so what. No reason to make a stink. Most people hate mech eldar in Objective missions. Your reaction to GKs was annoying to read for lack of a better word.
Game 6, and your "cheating" opponent. Can;t say if he was cheating, and neither can you. By saying he cheated you and him not here to defend himself is weak sauce. Especially considering 2 things you said in your report. First you said he immobilized a Wave Serpent that failed its flat out save. Thats a destroyed Wave Serpent. Second, you suggested you could roll your meltas one at a time to achieve the effect you wanted for the Tomb Spider. A bit ambiguous in your intent, but unless you meant each squad would only take one shot, not legal. So from reading your report, you claims of him cheating are misplaced as you seemed to have made mistakes in the rules as well.
Game 7, you didn;t want to discuss the results due to ensuing drama that may happen. Understood. However, in light of your previous reports, I believe a few of the readers of this thread will likely think your sportsmanship was ias much in error as your opponents by your blanket statement
If you could elaborate on any of these to clear the air and prove me in error that would be great.
