The dragon helm says that the bearer counts there armour save as one point higher than usual, implying that it can be combined with other armour. Also, the word HELM in the name implies a helmet, which wouldn't replace a suit of armour.

This is how I see it anyway.

He didn't break the rules on magic armour as far as I can see.

You had 2 magic talismans, making him illegal.
The tournament rules for illegal characters is that gear is RANDOMLY destroyed until the character becomes legal, then they take a round of fire from a hellblaster.
In the champion division, I disqualified illegal entries. In the masters, I changed the rules so rather than just being flat out disqualified, I replaced it with gear destruction.
It's the Masters.
I expect legal characters. It's enough work as it is to be checking all the special rules for all the gear and characters; let alone deal with illegal entries.

I think the Vermin Lord would be prety much screwed without that magic phase though...

Edit: Why didn’t you put his name there?
A Vermin Lord isn’t a special character.

Sorry, I thought I had put it in at the top. I had to finish the pairing very fast as my 2 year old was waking up, so I didn't bother with the full name.
I'll be sure to get it in the 2nd round.

Yeah, when I rolled up the miscast, I thought it was over; and then came the detonate. So unfair. The only saving grace was the loss of power dice, which would have let Cloud go off, doing S5 S5 no save hits on the king.
The Horned Rat had a very hot streak on the rolling. He kept hitting with 4 out of 5 attacks, had a 12 power die magic phase, passed a pair of 5+ wards, rolls high on the D3 for wounds, and so on.
The Dwarf King on the other hand had 4 hits, but rolled a pair of 1's on the 2+ to wound, and rolled poorly for saves, failed to dispel by 1.

I think if that fight was played out a few more times, you'd see the King wining more often than not.

That is not what made him illegal.

Ara-kor, Chosen of Quetzl (Saurus Oldblood)
Great weapon, Light armour, Dragonhelm, Dawnstone
Talisman of Preservation

Mounted on a Carnosaur
Look at that, 2 talismans:
Random Destruction, loses the dragon helm, then the dawnstone.
Hell Blaster fire, misfired.

He lost the dragonhelm from the random destruction. He was unlucky to lose the helm, but pretty lucky the hellblaster misfired.

Sun Eater vs Orion.

Trees spring up inside the area, and Orion stands inside them.
SunEater wins the toss, and calls down lightning, which is redirected at Sun Eater giving him frenzy.
Orion shoots, hits, wounds and does 2 wounds.
Sun Eater Charges, Orion stands and shoots, hits and fails to wound.
Sun Eater passes his difficult terrain test.
Orion attacks first, hits and scores 2 unsaved wounds.
Khorlek Sun Eater Swings: 4 hits, 3 unsaved wounds, D3 rolls equal 5 wounds taken.
Orion loses combat by 4, takes 3 wounds of unstable, losing both hounds and dying.

Khorlek SunEater might be the one to beat this competition. Could somebody check to see if SunEater gets a roll on Eye of the gods.
If so, he's going into the next match with +1 Strength.

Really? Why not? He's a character, he's in the WoC book. Big ups to Kiwidru for spotting him as a choice...

Beats me, but it doesn't list eye of the gods as one of his special rules, neither do demon princes or galrauch. Maybe there is a correlation between the eye of the gods rule and being able to join units, because none of those three characters can join units either.

Probably because monsters cannot challenge, thereby making the point of the rule redundant

That's not correct. Monsters who are character can challenge. Warriors of Chaos monster-characters must challenge, as per the FAQ.

Really, because in 7th I am pretty sure they couldn't, which was when Warriors of Chaos came out so........

Being a monster doesn't preclude one from being a character. And I'm fairly certain that monstrous characters could challenge in 7th too (though that argument is irrelevant here).

I suppose in the end it doesn't really matter, though, maybe I am just thinking of Ridden Monsters that have lost their rider.

I am having a hard time finding the FAQ or the rule in the rule book that clarifies this. The only FAQ I see is this one;
Q. Does the compulsion to issue and accept challenges apply to all
models or only to models with the Eye of the Gods special rule? (p43)
A. It applies to all models capable of issuing challenges.
I was then trying to find something that told me which models are capable of issuing challenges, but not finding anything definitive. Could someone point me in the right direction? As for Sun Eater, I am fine with him getting the +1 str., I'm not arguing against it, just trying to get enlightened. Thanks.

Victoria B.C.

He is a character and a monster as far as I understand he can issue a Challenge.

Pg 102 brb characters can challenge unit champs etc all in book.

Yet he does not have eye of the gods special rule so I dont think he gets to roll on the eye of the gods.
Since eye of the gods says only models with the rule get to roll.

Overview of the WoC army book.
