If she's at all into RPGs, she might like Dark Heresy quite a lot. The storytelling aspect of it (avoid making it a dice-and-paper wargame) appeals to a lot of people.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

my girlfriend likes space wolves. She hasnt started playing but likes to paint.

Best thing to do is introduce it in small doses.

I don't have a girl friend :(
But i do know a few that play 40k just because of the historical parts it references.

No chance of that happening ever. She does play Minecraft and Black Ops though, even though I have absolutely zero interest in the latter. Does that count for anything?

all i have to say is I pity those poor pink space marines. but though i've never tried it all depends on the girl some women will never enjoy stuff like this while other will be easier to interest. kinda the same way as everyone else some people will never get it

Not even video games? Wow. I managed to get my girlfriend to play a number of different (and violent) video games in coop mode. Tabletop gaming is still a no.

Yeh

Shes into a few games like halo and gears but she has a habit of playing for a day and then never wanting to play again for liek 3 months.

Good luck I've been barking up that tree for a long time with my wife.
If your not carefull she'll tell you what she really thinks of your ''Littel toys and how you grow up and do something not so stupid''

My Missus actually began to take an interest watching myself and our Son play.
I had a load of CSM bits/ minis setting in a box, so offered to make an army for her...which ended up being a very pink/purple and light blue Slaanesh devoted chapter.
She doesn't play often, but enjoys it when she does...

My advice, let your GF come to you about playing...if she's interested she'll express that she is.

I guess i'm lucky then..

I met my wife over a game of Vampire, LARPed with her, Got into D and D together....

I had played 40K until a couple of years previously, but packed it away for a time. I got back into it a while back, and got her into it too.

She collects and paints (and fluffs) Saimhann Eldar renegades and a Dark Eldar Kabal. We play about once a month, as we have kids (the oldest is learning to play 40K now too, and loves my Orks ) and little time.

We also play Pathfinder, Warmachine (just starting) and D20 Modern

This has been my experience so far, she always suggests playing and then ends up trying to have the tv on while I'm trying to teach her the rules.

The problem is that none of my friends play, and I don't know how to get a game started at my FLGS. I'm still relatively new to actually playing, so I'm actually trying to get her to play so that I myself can get familiar enough with the rules to be confident enough to go down to the local store and play strangers.

You win at relationships, life, the universe and everything.

Now on a more on-topic note... I haven't really tried. We currently live about a planet away (seriously, she's on the other side of the fething planet) so it would be a little hard to get her into it. I guess if I ever wanted to I could just ask.

Oh, and am I the only one who thinks those pink Space Marines look FREAKING AWESOME!?

My soon to be ex-wife was always asking about learning to play, but "never had the time" for it when I wanted to show her, so I eventually stopped bothering. I did drag her fully into RPGs, CCGs and board gaming, though, so I guess it wasn't all lost effort.

She did always wonder why I would keep buying more minis when I already had so many, but didn't play more than once a month. Of course when that topic came up my first response was usually, "How many shoes do you have now?"

as a married man I would liek to start by saying this... my wife is my best friend, we do almsot everythign together. she plays WoW , we raid together, I am the main tank she is our best healer (helps that we can communicate when to use cooldowns or when in trouble and out of cooldowns). We both like animals and playign with our dogs, both like playing fps and board games together... but she dislikes 40k ... and that's ok, when i go play or paint my models it is time we spend apart and you still need to have some time to yourself no matter how in love you are with this gal. so unless she really wants to join and is asking you do teach her then let it slide, you'll always have other things to do together (or at least i hope you do, otherwise what's the point)

My girlfriend has played a game of 40K but wasn't that into it. I didn't push for a second game too much, because if the first game wasn't to her liking there's not much I can do to change her mind in a second game.

She watched me play a game of Blood Bowl yesterday, and afterwards started asking a lot of good questions about it. Seeing as she's a big sports nut, this might be the "gateway" game to get her into the warhammer crack.

Wish me luck.

might i also suggest you try out BFG.

its a little smaller scale and is much cheaper to start. the rules are also real solid with very few problems with the mechanics.

My advice is much like some of the guys above..

Don't bother. If she knows you play, and has seen it and is interested, she'll ask. If not, take it as one of the things you can do and actually have some alone time.. That's healthy and necessary to any successful relationship.

I'm sure you have plenty of things to do together, it is OKAY to have one thing you don't.

That said, if she decides on her own that she's interested, wants to paint, wants to play, whatever? Congrats. Have fun. (And make sure to find at least ONE hobby she's not into later. You will both need an escape from one another once in a while.)

I have to agree with the other guys. Don't try and get her into the hobby. First, if she wants to get into the game she'll be the one to approach. Second, it's nice to have "your" thing.

My wife noticed that I spend a lot of time painting my "guys" (as she calls them) and told me that she wanted to try playing with me. I played a game with her and she decided she hated it and doesn't play anymore. That's okay with me because we already do pretty much everything else together.

Let her come on her own terms or not at all, just like everything else.

I would totally help my gf rock a Hello Kitty or My Little Pony-themed 40K or Fantasy army if she were so inclined.

Grimdark is all well and good, but it's so OTT that it can stand to have fun poked at it once in awhile.
