17th & 8th are no go.
Oct 1st works for me. I can field about 3000p of Chaos by October 1st, and with some hard work, a decent portion of it will be painted.

So we have a set date! We now need to establish a venue and time... What did you guys have in mind? The GW in Kent is meh, the battle bunker in Bellevue is actually pretty nice since the gaming area is separate from the retail area, and if anyone has tables/garage/spare room/etc that's even better. I find the experience of non retail store gaming superior. Edit: Chaos marines or daemons?

Sounds good to me. Cottenjaw you up for a trip all the way to Kent for an early morning? The battle bunker is nice, but we would be starting at noon and have to wrap up for Dave at 6:30, that probably won't be enough for a full game. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ooh, bad Jessup, I am not free on October 1st after all. Father in laws birthday. However, I could do something sooner like September 17th. I can even offer to host it here in Seattle as a midpoint if you guys don't mind a massive floor war. Otherwise we would have to move back to later in October. There is an off chance that I can get some tables set up I suppose.

I am available all day long on the weekends, i am only limited time wise on the weekdays. I can discuss with the wife about being dropped off while she runs around and does the errands on the 17th, i will let you know, but i am not sure exactly when i could be dropped off, so lets not count this out yet for the 17th.

Okay, I have come up with some thoughts and plans. I will think about them some more and flesh it out a little bit. I'm imagining Cotten and Dave on the same team, that comes out to around 15,000 points or so, little more little less is cool.
The who:
Cottenjaw: about 3000 points night lords
Dave-C: about 13,000 point renegades/chaos/orks/necrons
Seapheonix/Jessup: Setting up about 15,000 points of Eldar
The Where: If everyone is cool with it my apartment/house.
The When: If September 17th/18th works I imagine we could start a little late, but since it is at my place there is no late time limit for playing. Dave you mentioned a vet appointment in the morning, would starting at noon still work for you? Or we could start later and leave it set up for a second day on sunday. Haven't heard back from Cottenjaw about availability of that weekend I think. Wait, I think he did say the 17th doesn't work. Hmmm could also work the weekend of the 24th/25th? Let me know what you guys think otherwise we are aiming more towards third week in October like the 15/16th? I suppose the farther out we are the more I can get prepped and set up as well as painting time for all of us.
The What:
I'm going to try and set up a horseshoe table with a two long sides and a short side. Set up a fort kind of castle/bastion on the inside of the ring. Perhaps a webway gate at the center of it as the primary goal.
The Why: Because it's fun to play huge games, and...
The simple goal I'm imagining is that the forces of chaos/evil/super badassery have the goal of breaching the walls and making it to the webway portal. Simple victory conditions are if the Eldar have complete control of the portal they win. If the forces of chaos have units controlling it they win. If it is contested between the two it will be a tie? (although if chaos is that far in they probably have a good chance of winning I would think.)
Basic story thoughts to be fleshed out by all of us I'm sure.
Eldar:
I imagine the forces of Altansar are defending a future Eldar home world from the perfidious grasp of evil. They have attempted to avoid such a large scale battle, but have been unable to alter the fates enough. Now they must defend this future sight of the resurgent Eldar.
The hordes:
A band of renegades have found this unblemished planet they wish to control and make their new home base for raiding out into the imperium. Orks having sensed the fight have dropped in willing to lend their forces to the renegades with the promise of a good scrap and some great plunder. The Necrons I'm not sure, but I could imagine either they are altered chaos forces that happen to have the same stats as necrons, or they are for some reason working under the forces of chaos to bring about a great slaughter for the C'tan.
Night Lords:
As a warband that needs things the night lords have sold their services to this grand enterprise and are acting as shock troops to help take out the perfidious Eldar, in particular they imagine they could use the web way portal for themselves to make daring raids and to have free movement throughout the universe. Or to take Altansar craftworld as their own new mobile base to conquer the stars.
Special rules:
Very much to be fleshed out a bit.
Eldar: Defensive type stuff, perhaps some weapon emplacements, some kind of scheduled reinforcements from the web way gate.
Renegades: Blood Angels would of course still have their descent of Angels kind of deep strike thing, but I was also imagining siege weapons. A big orky tower on wheels that could come up to the parapet. (I might have the lego stuff necessary for this) Or a tunnel that the Necrons can construct starting when they reach the wall and takes a full turn to create, then is perhaps 9" long. You could run out, or wait inside one turn then emerge the next and be able to fire/assault. (Give it an AP value so I can possibly collapse it, with the consequence of creating a difficult terrain breach in the wall.)
Night Lords: A terror campaign so that you can elect to cause a leadership test against non-fearless models that make them fall back for one turn. (Not off the board, but it could really screw with a gun crew or positioning eh?) I imagine one unit per turn kind of a thing.
Please feel free to flesh all these thoughts out, I'm looking forward to my next week of work sanding things and day dreaming up details, scenarios and fluff.
Needs:
Well of course there are things that would help to make this easier. Refreshments for all intended are always a bonus, snacks, good company etc...
The more material things that could be great is terrain. I'm going to try and work out the tables and the fort but if anyone has some grass, ground cover to put on top of the tables (green cloth, dusty looking vinyl, whatever you can imagine.) Also some terrain for Chaos/renegades to come from. I imagine a small forest, or some rocks that create a ravine, or hills, that kind of thing.

I am pretty sure i can do a nooner. Heres a few Q's...What part of town/hood/burrough is your humble abode located? Is there a bus that can get me there easily so my wife can have the car? Would the blood chalice(gives furious charge and FnP in a 6" range) count for all friendly units or for BA only? So lets say a necron fails a save, takes a FnP cuz he is in range, then takes a WBB? I also have some stuff from an old fish tank i can bring as extra terrain, some very large palm trees and a large house structure, maybe a couple other things

PM sent with contact info.
As to the blood chalice. I would say that if you come up with fluff as to why it would work I'm fine with that. Though I would expect there would be some points cost increase to the item itself or the units it is allowed to effect. Say a mark of the chalice or something (thinking similar to a mark of chaos)
We're playing a huuuuuge game so a couple of points won't matter this way or that I would say, but if you give them some kind of a mark it fits in more with a story line.

Well, there is fall of damnos, the alliance between BA and Necrons, and half my chaos marines are plague marines so they won't need it. So lmaybe add 15 pts per model with blood chalice, which i have three, so when i write up what i have ill just add 45 pts? Or do you think it should be more? Does anyone have the apoc book, or should we make a printout of it?

I am slightly points deficient of 13k, totaled it up tonight and i got 11,525 fully upgraded and what not. How are we feeling about proxy? I would be able to use my useless drop pod as a second monolith, and if anyone else has extra drop pods i could proxy them as monoliths as well, i only have one monolith, low on cash flow/stuff to trade and kind of hard to find atm.

Well first I was mentally adding Cottenjaw to you as well, he said he was around 3000. If points don't match up there are always apocalypse stratagems that are I believe worth 250 points apiece. Option three did you ad in any apocalypse formations? If you still feel like you need to use a drop pod as a monolith I'm fine with that, but it's not something worth stressing about by any stretch.

Hehehehe, i just REALLY like monoliths. When i play my crons i have stand in land raiders for them. I found some points though, found some leftover parts and made two more librarians/priests, can be either or. Can use my regular destroyers as heavy destroyers, can use my chaos pred as a BA pred instead(costs more points but has different attributes), thats around 260 to 360 pts-ish depending on what we use the two new BA models as...

Hey guys have a pair of characters I would love to play that are not codex standard, feel free to veto them, I attempted to make them in line with the rest of the eldar codex.
Lhykossadea phoenix lord of the warp spiders.
WS BS S T W I A LD SV Pts 210
7 7 3 3 3 7 4 10 2+/4++
Aspect: Warp spiders
Wargear: warp jump pack, widow's bite, Audax spinners.
Special rules: Independent character; Fleet of foot; Fearless; Eternal warriors:
Disciples (Warp spiders); Surprise assault; Withdraw; Warp beacon, warp flicker
Widows bite: The widow's bite is a set of poisoned power blades which wound on a 3+.
Audax spinners: An ancient set of death spinners with four barrels each so much a part of Lhykossadea she may use them both as a shooting weapon and in close combat. When in close combat gives Lhykossadea +2 attacks
When shooting they may be used with either as an 8 shot death spinner, or as a 2 shot
spinneret rifle.
RANGE S AP TYPE
spinner 12" 6 - Assault 8
spinneret 18" 6 1 Assault 2, pinning
Warp Beacon: When teleporting in the assault phase Lhykossadea and her squad roll 3d6 and choose two. If the two chosen are doubles lose one warp spider from the unit. Lhykossadea may take her invulnerable save.
Warp Flicker: Lhykosssadea is constsantly flickering in and out of the warp, often allowing weapons and ammo to simply pass through where she was. This grants her a 4+ invulnerable save.
Kayla the bone singer
WS BS S T W I A LD SV pts 125
3 3 3 3 2 5 1 9 4++
Much as techmarines for the Imperium may heal damaged vehicles, the bone singers of the Eldar may psychically heal the machines they are so familiar with.
Wargear: Rune armor, Haywire blaster, ghost helm
Special rules: Independent character, Fleet of foot, psychic powers
Heal the wraith bone: If a bone singer is in base to base contact or inside of a damaged vehicle during the shooting phase she can attempt to repair instead of firing a weapon. Roll a D6 and ad any warlock modifiers.
(A warlock within 6" of the bone singer may elect to lend their psychic power to the bone singer instead of shooting.) +1 modifier.
Cover enhancement: The bone singer may elect one piece of cover before the game to give a +1 to it's cover save.
Haywire blaster:
Range S AP Type
24" 4 4 assault 1
When shooting at a vehicle instead of rolling to penetrate roll on the following table.
1-2 Nothing
2-4 Glancing hit
5-6 Penetrating hit
Would love to see you guys with a couple individual special characters if you want, I could imagine a Night lord assault captain of some kind that was so good he and his men could land in or on dangerous terrain without having to take a terrain test. (In particular useful if you were to say land on my ramparts.) I read the night lord books recently and they were awsome!
Should have some story line and such other little twists for the battlefield worked out as well for you guys to look at tonight or tomorrow.
On a separate note, I have to take the car in to be worked on in bellevue and will likely be hanging out at the battle bunker all day if anybody wants to meet up and play a game.

All right, here below are two of the ways to get into the fortification. As well as good old fashioned shooting at the walls. I've got the front gate and such under construction now and plenty of cardboard. Once it's a bit more together I will post up the rules for it and a pic so you guys can have a look at it before you show up. Feel free to critique if you don't like something. I figure this provides five additional ways to get in.
Orky siege tower
Movement 12" AV F S R
Open topped 13 12 10
Firing points: All exposed models on the upper deck or stairs.
Special rules: Once it makes contact with the wall the siege tower becomes AV 13 all the way around.
Necron Tunnels
Elect two necron units as tunnel diggers. When they reach the walls of the fortification they may choose to dig a tunnel. It progress' under the wall at a rate of 1" for every member of the unit, with a minimum of one turn to dig. The distance under the wall is 7"
Once in place the tunnel has an AV of 11.
Glancing hits: Upon a glancing hit all models within the tunnel must make a dangerous terrain test and move as though through difficult terrain the next turn.
Penetrating hits: The tunnel collapses destroying the wall section above it as well. All models within the tunnel are killed instantly no armor saves or invulnerable saves allowed. Except for those within 1 inch of the tunnel entrance and exit. These models take may take an initiative test on 2d6. If successful they throw themselves out of the nearest entrance and spend the next turn standing up. (May not move, fire or assault, although they can be assaulted and will fight back.)
Template and blast weapons fired into the tunnel will automatically hit all units within the tunnel.
If the wall above the tunnel is collapsed it may be walked over as if it were dangerous terrain.

Thought I added that in there. figure ten basic guys (half that for bigger termies, cyborks) Plus whoever fits on the top/stairs/wings/etc. Any of your army guys can use it, but only orks for the first entrance I was thinking. Or you can have nobody in it if you like. No weapons, but anybody on the top platforms can shoot and be shot at (with applicable cover save/movement save/group of people in front of you save.)
Question back: Are you okay with me playing with two avatars? I have the GW one and I just got a great deal on the forgeworld one as well. Consider like a +1 to S, T, and W on the big guy. (He's actually twice as tall as the regular one.)

That looks great, and quite large as well!
I am not really finding any apoc formations for me to use, just one so far, and its a basic 50 pt one. I am not sure what the points value of a strategic asset is but maybe that will do instead...Or i can go buy a monolith, then have 2 and use my drop pod as a third and that would put me right on the money, but monoliths are not an easy find these days(they have even been pulled from gw's own website and are rumored to have a necron announcement at golden daemon uk this weekend).
