True, I suppose there are few who can handle over 100+ ladies all at one time.

It makes me cringe too. That is one of the main driving forces that is motivating me to do this blog. Seeing any half finished army on the table top just makes me think I need to go home and paint. On top of that SoB, are one of the least represented armies. The only two fully painted WYSIWYG SoB armies that I have ever seen in person were both 1000 points and painted by me on commission. That was about 11 and 8 years ago.

More?

Reinforcements have just arrived!!!

But first they must be cleansed and purified.

While those go through the ritual of cleansing, I felt like taking a quick break from painting and do a bit of building. There is a bunch of Bretonnian bits and some Grey Knight swords and some Cadian Legs...

What could it possibly be?

HUZZAH! Crusaders!

Just have 4 for now but I will try to make the other 4 on Friday. They need some stuffing around the waist so I think I am going to give them a chain belt and hang trinkets from it. I had debated on using High Elf archer legs instead but I thought it would look too Fantasy. They are missing that Gothic touch so I am planning to add Ye ol' guitar string to make them fit a bit more in the 40k realm. The other thought is to add a power pack to power the storm shield.

Okay, I know what you are probably thinking, "This guy is going out of his way to get a boat load of metal Sister of Battle. Why doesn't he just order the metal Crusaders?"

Because I don't like their helmets. And I dont like the pose where the Crusader is just holding the top of the shield like it has got nothing better to do with it's time. It's not like the galaxy is full of heretics that need purifying! Sheesh.

Anyway, I also wanted the banners from the box set for my new...old standard bearers I got off eBay. One of them has a good casting but the other has a really messed up left eye, so I am probably going to swap the pole on the bad one but keep the other in tact for novelty sake. Might as well green stuff a cyber-monocle to cover that eye while I am at it.

Tomorrow I begin operation "Scarlet Fever". Although, I suppose it will end up more of a burgundy or carmine...
Shush! I like the name.

Huzzah! (my new catch phrase?) Time to focus!

Finally got the second part of the "codex" today. Now I can sleep at night. With the points all set in paper I figured out exactly what models I need to paint for my 1850. Might be a little unconventional but it could also be pretty fun.

Here is the break down of the models for my first draft army:

1 St. Celestine
1 Simulacrum imperialis
36 Bolters
4 Multi-Meltas
4 Flamers
6 Combi-Plasma
8 Meltaguns
1 Combi-flamer

5 Rhinos
2 Immolators
2 Exorcists
(9 cherubs toting HK missiles...

Looking at it like this makes it almost seem manageable to paint over the weekend... (yeah right)

Good god, that is one huge amount of Immolators! Looking very cool. Have you seen that the immolator has now been ripped off points-wise in the new codex release though? It's a razorback for 25 more points really :.(
Maybe consider using the old codex for the Fast rule if you're not using this awesome sized army at a tournie

Here is the update from this last week. Nothing too fancy, but I was able to get the base coat down for the red cloth and skin, but I am still in the process of doing all of the leather pouches and gloves. I am about half way done with that, and then I will move on to the weapons. You might notice that I am not showing the full collection like before. That is because I have narrowed down the project to just the models I will be using for the upcoming tournament.

I have a sample army list here that seems to have a bit of back and forth discussion. (probably due to me, fighting against the norm)

If you read the list I also have Celestine in there but not on my painting table. Well, I just plan to spend some special one-on-one time with her and make her feel special.

On to the pictures.

Brown leather done

Brown leather, not so done

I have some more conversion work to do since I will be including Combi-Plasma Guns and Hunter Killer Missiles to my list. It's blasphemy against the 'holy trinity' I am sure... And that is why it will be the 'Blasphemy Pattern Bolt Gun'. I have several from the Space Marine Commander box set, but that gun is bigger than the models head and torso combined, so I need to make a more compact version.

Also, there is still the struggle of how to base them. The "I-am-a-super-awesome-modeler-and-this-is-how-I-base-my-models" consensus seems to be some kind of ruined temple ground. I think I have figured out a way to do that while keeping it purely GW and not ordering/making resin bases. Somewhere in my closet of shame there should be a pack of fantasy customizable movement trays. I am thinking I can make ruined tiles with that.

This will be an interesting week with a holiday coming up and me having to get packing to move. (Those Creditors will never catch me! Muahahaha!)

I guess I was pretty well spoiled in my gaming group. One of my buddies in the army had a fully painted sisters army, only the inquisitor and retinue werent SoB. I hated, and hate that army to this day. About 2000pts of pain, I literally sent him a message today to bringforth his CHEESEBALL army ( I cont not caps it my iPhone now believes that is the only way to spell it)

Thanks! You might notice that there are more special weapons than listed in the army. I am sure I will be testing out a verity of combinations on the troop squads. I want to give the multi-melta a shot (huzzah for puns!) first since it is new to the squad's options.

Got a quasi-update today. All about... CONVERSIONS! Huzzah!

I needed to prototype one of my 'Blasphemy Pattern Boltguns'. Here is the result, straight out of the factory:

Weapon's Hot!:

The first prototype was a "replace the grip with a plasma pistol barrel" style that you typically see. But her knee was in the way so I had to move the magazine somehow. I went with the side fed magazine which also helped to compact the look. Also, it allowed for more space for the plasma attachment so you can more easily spot that it has one. My opponent wont be able to call shenanigan! Instead of green stuff, which can take a while, I just start shaving/filing the connection point so that the plastic dust falls into crack with the glue and evens it out. If that doesn't make it look seamless enough, I just piled on the foundation paint till it leveled off.

I did learn from the quick paint job that Dheneb Stone can be really streaky. I had contemplated abandoning that color, but with the white I think the color is okay. I just need to make sure to use the wet pallet.

On the the next conversion, my 'Spite' Missile.

(Is that a booger?)

Here is probably the only place it looks natural.

I know I could just slap on a regular hunter killer missile but that would look too militaristic. I needed something to match the ridiculousness of the Exorcist Missile Launcher.

Hope you enjoyed.

Stats-wise they are the same as hunter killer missiles but mine are full of spite, which makes them Super Effective!

There are several models to paint so this will be the main focus for the blog. If there is another army I work on, I will more likely start a different blog.

Ok sounds good I will have to trust that your missiles are super effective. One more question for our host will you be doing any fluff for your ladies or just showing us how awesome they are?

I am not much of a fluffer. The tournament I am attending did have extra bonus points for some fluff but it did not have to be that in depth or concurrent to the actual fluff of 40k. When my DCA arrive at my LFGS and I can make the competative build that everyone else has.

I might throw in some fluff for Jacobus's Escort Service. The other idea was to make fluff around the mysterious group known as The Order of Saint Victoria's Secret. Each unit would be numbered according to bra size with fast attack being the smallest for mobility and retributers... you get the idea.

What's the secret?

It's a trap!

Here is another update on my progress:

The Good

Final base coat before actual painting is complete on the infantry. There are also a bit of small details here and there such as scope lenses, wires, and purity seals. But I think that if I painted them now, it would still just get painted over during the actual highlighting and shading process. I am saving those for separate step later on. There is also a matter of the combi-weapons, but I still need to make those later tonight.

The Bad

I have only three weeks to go until my self proposed deadline. I can feel the pressure building up and doubts are starting to manifest. I am kind of second guessing my color scheme for the gray armor. I am hoping this all just pans out when I am done highlighting and shading. The other issue is weathering, as that is all the rage these days. I will probably add it later but now is just not the time.

The Ugly

Want to see how the seraphim are doing in the ritual of cleansing?

Spoiler:
Seraphim Soup for the Soul

Not quite green anymore is it?
