The base is where distances are measured from,just place it near a Locater Beacon and you're good.

what's the base 25mm? ok true about the locator beacon but that limits its availability and might as well just deep strike the unit at that point

A locator is a good upgrade,but if you don't have one.Fortune favours the brave.And you have a 2"extra range for the assault.

I find it beat to reserve 'ravens and have them fly on from your edge. If the enemy is close enough you can move on 12", unload, fire two 'raven weapons, fire the squad and assault. If you have lured the enemy forward, this works well.

If he's a bit shy then you have to flat out the turn you come on. Bit riskier with non-GK as you can't use The Shrouding to boost the cover save but it should still work reasonably well.

When disembarking from a vehicle,you must place all the modals within 2" of the access points,or in this case,the base,so place the first models 2" away,so far that it is barely within 2",then make a ring.Fill this ring in.Extra 2".

Not really, it's a huge target and going to draw a LOT of fire. and with 12 armor straight across the line a melta weapon out of range of it's bonus can be dangerous. I mean don't get me wrong against certain armies it's alright (ie a swarm nids army) but anything with a gun over str 6 will cause it something. yes it's almighty and very powerful but power isn't gak when you are blown up before you have a chance to draw line of fire. and for 260 points I don't think it's worth that cost. especially when for 10 points cheaper you can take a LR true it might not be as fast, but at 14's all around it can take a lot of shots and definitely pay itself off more

A SR with LC and MM is only 200.A sponson upgrade and extra armour is 245.That is less than a LR and is better.In objectives,the raven's job is to get your troops onto an objective and keep them safe,whether they are in it,on it is providing covering fire.


And it does have sufficient firepower to stay alive.

200 with those upgrades correct extra armor brings it to 245 correct again, but the locator beacon that is so sort after and somewhat the beginning to this conversation is an extra 15 making it 260

ok say you keep it in the 245 point range. it's still more expensive then the LR. I play BA and with BA if you remove the jump packs from a squad you get a certain percentage off from transports. the LR is only 215 and with a hell of a better armor

You must be joking!LR,215?Nortmally they are 250,240 for a LRR.

Then you dont know your codexes. BA get 35 points off a transport if they remove jump packs.

With BA's you can only choice the LR family of vehicles if you use it as a dedicated transport. they aren't heavy choices at all. Now with my army, i have one assault squad without jump packs. and you can't pick the SR as a transport for them. but the LR is 215 LRC 215 and LRR is 205.

The fact that only a slight part of a deep striking model needs to end up somewhere bad to cause the entire model to mishap means that models that take up bigger room also easier mishap due to scatter.

That was a rumor that turned out to not be true. The only armies that can take a Stormraven are BA and GK.

Perhaps GW will introduce Stormravens in other Marine chapters someday, but as of now, you can't take them.

I disagree completely. Placed 1st in 'ard Boyz this past week with my dual Stormraven list. That said, I would never Deep Strike them, as some others have suggested. And, I run Astorath + 10 DC + 1 Death Company Dread in 1 of them. So using Lemartes is not out of the question with 10 DC.
