I don't see much difference. Both are sort of unappealing to me tbh...

The Forge World one looks like a dynamic space-elf walker. The Armorcast one looks like a spindly giant robot toy. No contest for me, Forge World all the way.

A better pose would go a long, long way towards getting me to like the Armorcast one more, but I'm still not a fan of some of the stylistic choices either. Most notably the shoulder pads. Or maybe the entirety of the arms.

The older one looks more like the Eldar titans of Epic and in the artwork. The FW phantom is simply a bigger version of the Revenant. There's really very little difference between the two FW titans.

Then again, I don't like titans, they're silly and would be useless from a practical purpose. But I suppose that's a discussion for another thread.

I prefer the Armorcast version. On Imperial Titans I prefer FW.
I did see the new one set up at adepticon and it was a nice looking kit.

I'm not usually a fan of extremely humanoid (or eldaroid?) look for very large mecha. Thus, I'd have to go with the Armorcast version.

That said, with the benefit of 20 years of progressing model standards, the FW model is definitely better executed. Still, if I had a choice of one, I'd probably go with the Armorcast, and if there was an AC style done up to FW detail standards, it'd be no contest.

The FW titan looks a million times better in my opinion. It's like comparing the newer grav tanks to the old Armorcast ones, no comparison.

I don't know of anyone who likes the old grav AC grav tanks they made the old AC titans look like FW by comparison.

I like the old Armocast one better. But I started my GW addiction with Epic Space Marine and all of the original titans look better to me than any of the rescuplts they did.

What he said.

The AC Titan will always have a place in my heart, especially since I used to play and love Epic Space Marine. That being said, I'm coming into a little model money in the near future, I'm buying the titan. The FW one. It's just way more dynamic and posable. It's gonna be great!

And actually ForgeWorld will come out with the Warlock variant soon....mark my words.

Neither really appeal to me. I can see the new one is a better model, but the old one has nostalgia value.

By the way, when all these armorcast things came out is was 2nd edition. Who published rules and datafax cards for these and where?

Yup that's the one. I must have been lucky because the resin kit was absolutely beautiful. I had little flashing on that model. Wished I kept the model but I traded it for a Zeram model, which I traded it for this.

Mine is a functional punch dagger which is in it's original box.

Someday I might go for another Phantom Titan model.

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

I vote for the armor cast one. True it lacks the movement which the forgeworld titan just oozes, it does look stately and aloof..
