Poverty and ignorance have a tendency to go hand and hand. I'm not saying poor people are stupid, ignorance and stupidity are entirely different things. It's okay to slam the so called white trash of the deep south because they're white. I believe that it's simply white self hatred. Conservatives are disgusted that such people are associated with their cause. White Liberals are disgusted that such people live in their country.

I'd just like to know how they manage to find Nascar so appealing...

One of the things I don't like about the north is how damn busy the cities are. I went to Boston for a weekend and it was just enough for me, I did see some sights though. I saw a homeless person's shopping cart version of an SUV(guy had like 4 carts strapped together along with a boombox and other nice things) and a bed laying in the middle of demolition site with a teddy bear sitting in front of a pillow like it was ready for someone to sleep in it.

I like some tourists more than others, I found that some of the southern tourists make more of a mess than northern or some foreign tourists. Two guys and three girls(the guys wearing KU hats and the girls fitting the stereotype of overweight southern mother) walked around the store while we were closed(we close at 8:00pm on sundays and it was already 8:05) and just messed with stuff, they didn't even pick up what they messed with. Pissed me the hell off to the point that we kept asking them if they needed anything until they left. Northern customers tend to be rude towards the employees if they are rude in any sense and one of our managers has a high level of disdain towards Indian customers because they seem to always open up the boxes to see what something looks like, even if its an electronic item. I've had to tell a couple to stop opening a box for a scooter(we don't let them ride the things in the first place) and when they said they wanted to know the color I pointed to the color indicator on the box and they asked "What if he can't ride it?" so I told them that they could return it after they bought it. I walked away and a few minutes later their kid was riding on the scooter, but that's a different story.

Anyways, some things are bred into certain regions. Kansas and Missouri are at odds with each other near the border thanks to Civil War era history, doesn't mean they hate each other but they have a nice rivalry going on. New Englanders do talk funny though, my dad being one of them, funny and fast usually.

What do you mean...I enjoy having my face burst into flame every time I open my car door...and don't even get me started on how much I love having my flesh sizzle and stick to the steering wheel..
...Hot, pffft..it's just a bit balmy.

I guess it depends on where you live in Texas. I know in the Dallas area is a huge melting pot for foreigners, especially from Asia, and I don't feel that the average person from the area looks at foreigners any different.

I have a bit of experience in this area(my wife being Asian) and she has never felt "like a different species".

Not saying that you haven't experienced issues in some places, but it's very unfair to paint Texas as a whole like that.

I know, I love the DFW area, but, I live in north texas, where things aren't as nice, and many people aren't as understanding. Just the other day, I went to get gas and asked my fiancé if she wanted anything, and some guy asked why am I in this country, nothing really gets to me, except those kinds of statements.

I think that your hatred is misdirected.. if your main reason for hating a place is because of fat people and food, then you should definitely hate Mississippi.. because its the FATTEST state in the whole country, and has been for years.

Man I love the midwest with their corn and and corn related products. I'm a nor'easter boy myself and I do get tired of hustle and bustle of the city and love the countryside and do some fishing and hunting.

You could hate the south, or just not worry about it, I mean, during my first several weeks in this country, I went to ellis island, I saw the statue of liberty, the alamo, and I enjoyed the southern hospitality. I always hear that the south is so awful and backwards, but, there's good people and bad people, just like everywhere else.

I don't find baseball appealing or enjoyable.

Baseball is okay to play, terrible to watch.

Basketball is fun to play, meh to watch.

American Football is fun to play, awesome to watch.

I think that being a driver would be fun, but watching Nascar is sooo boring.

Being southern California raised, I hate living in Texas, its to damn hot. Thats about it, Texas would be a cool place to live if it wasn't melting outside in the summer and snowing in the winter.

American Football is no less boring to watch than basketball.

Though it is more fun to play, certainly. Lets one really get one's aggression out. But watch? Yawn.

Honestly, I would never live further north than NC, where I currently reside. First reason being that I can't stand anything under 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Second reason being that I find the south to be a more vibrant enjoyable place to live. The people are nicer, the climate is nicer, everything is just more cheerful down here. As for us being uneducated backwards conservatives, well, yeah. Some of us are. But you damn yankees have your fair share of donkey-caves as well. I also have a dislike for the large cities up north. I much prefer cities like Charleston or Savannah.

It really comes down to personal preference, neither region is necessarily 'better' than the other. I just prefer to live somewhere where people smile and wave and hold the door for you and where life is happier and more vibrant. That's just my personal preference. It's all fine by me if you damn yankees enjoy being masochistic sad sacks.

What part of Southern California were you from, the freaking beach? During Junior High my mom moved down to Santa Clarita, by Magic Mountain. That has to be one of the most god awfully hot and dry places I've ever been to, worse than the Palm Desert or whatever. Probably is the combination of high heat and humidity in Texas?

Yes, 110 degree temperatures with like eighty percent humidity isn't all that uncommon.

And that's in D/FW, no the coastal cities.
