I think so also - but it's great to have a game environment to play in that we all can really appreciate as fans of the hobby!

I'd also point out that on PC, mics are a huge issue. I know I can mute them manually, but why is it so hard to just include a push to talk or a mute all option? I don't want to hear a guys wife apologize for burning the roast (which I have) or listen to some kid cough and wheeze. This same problem happened in DoW and it was annoying there too because their push to talk option didn't even work.

EDIT: It's also annoying only knowing where your team is when they are on your screen. The MP is in desperate need of a minimap.

Eh, the setting doesn't quite do it for me. The feel of the forgeworld its set on isn't right IMO. It just doesn't look or feel like what I imagined a FW would be. It feels more urban than industrial, and is lacking in that certain grimdark quality.

Also, the Orks sound too human...

You can change the voice chat options in Steam.

They don't fix the problem. The push to talk in steam doesn't work (far as I know it never has in any game I've ever played). Even if it did, me using push-to-talk doesn't solve the problem of having to hear everyone else. There's not mute all option either. The only way to do it is to set your receive to 0 which will up your TS if you use it and I do.

Push to talk works for me. Hearing people is annoying, I just mute them between matches.

I do to, but it's still annoying. As far as console ports go, SM may be the best I've played since KOtoR ported to the PC way back when, but there are still some annoyances that could have been fixed in a matter of minutes.

I'm hoping they get a patch out before us UK folk get it, it would lessen the blow of having to wait an extra 3 days.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

I too hope for a patch. There are a lot of little things that would help that game and they wouldn't take much time to code and implement. A few balance issues (though minor) would also be nice.

Calm down. The game isn't that good. I mean its cool, but only because its a setting that we all know and love. The reality of it is that the gameplay is rather subpar, the campaign is too short, and multiplayers life time is going to be limited by the release date of BF3/MW3 (in fact, it basically died on release for PS3 because Resistance 3 was released the same day...

'Dynasty Warriors meets Gears of War' is the best description for the game.

Pretty much disagree, I think its great.

Also, gears is totally different, as are bf3/mw3 from this game; I think it will keep a decent following.

You've obviously never played gears online. This game and gears play a lot alike as far as multiplayer goes. I prefer this mostly because it doesn't devolve into a lancer/torque bow/sniper/shotty fest but still.

Uh... yes, I have, extensively.

How can a cover based shooter play a lot like a jump in your face with chainaxe shooter?

Oh, so you mean in both multiplayer modes you play in 3rd person and shoot at each other, gotcha.

Because no one in gears except for snipers actually use the cover (a common problem in cover shooters actually).

To Clarify, when I say plays like, I mean that the player behavior, what you do in a game to do well, balance and combat is a lot like Gears. If you are very good at Gears all you need is to accustom yourself with the addition of a deeper melee system and you'll probably see a lot of success.

I wonder where you played Gears :\

Anyway, the games being different doesn't matter. Gears is the 2nd biggest franchise on Xbox, and sold the xbox on day 1. It's gonna steamroll Space Marine.

So no one uses cover huh? That must be why they added the mantle kick in GoW3

I really don't find it much like GoW, and I played the crap out of 2 and the beta.

Yea well, I'm sure there will be a drop-off of players, but I imagine there will still be a decent community. Not EVERYONE always jumps onto the new game bandwagon.

Maybe the player environment has changed since I played Gears. I remember the games where everyone just grabbed a shot gun or ran around with the lancer reved. Boring days. If thats changed its only for the better.

Maybe it was a Gears 1 thing. Only time I spent online in 2 was in that wonderful horde mode.

Not EVERYONE always jumps onto the new game bandwagon.

No but most people stop playing when they're bored. There isn't much in SM to entertain people for more than two, maybe three weeks? Thats how long I give it anyway.

Geez, I guess. I love the game and I could see myself playing the multiplayer for a long time, especially the horde mode in October.

How long did you give Reach? ffs I'm STILL playing that.

SO do I. I just wish there was more to do. Horde will be fun. Likely my clan of buddies will be able to play that with me so I won't need a player community to enjoy it

Halo is a wonderful example of how to keep people playing. I give it till... the next Halo game

Even then. People still play Halo 2 in noticeable numbers.

Halo 2 doesn't have online support anymore, old XBL is dead.

Yeah, but you're a fan of the setting, you're going to make up a very small subset of the games online population.

As for Reach, I don't know anyone that still plays it personally.

Thank god. If you'd said it had been two years ago I'd have started thinking I'm losing my mind (last time I played H2).

Most people that regularly post on Dakka will most likely play Space Marine even if you don't play Space Marines in the actual game.

You have to unlock the Customizer first. Then it'll work.

I'm not so sure. I needed to contact support to get my Blood Ravens pre-order armor. They got it too me fast but I did not have it from the start.
