Holly jeez thats a lot of iron guts.

I was thinking several medium sized units like 9 or so and rather multi charge something and kill it to death than have a horde peace out on me.

For monstrous infantry in a horde does each supporting rank get their 3 attacks?
If so then that is supper nasty.

Though Ironguts are really expensive point wise. I use them because i like heavy armor things.

Bulls are point for point the best buy

I was gonna pick up the ogre book today but I was like I should wait till the bank sends me the credit card bill and so another guy bought it 10 mins later so now i have to wait till next week.
Best part the credit card bill for this month is 13.98 or something like that. So ya kind of balls kind of win.

So you would say bulls do more?

Bulls are efficient, amazingly one of the most efficient Troop choice there is.
Ironguts however, get to have a magic banner up to 50pts. And that is a huge difference for some.

Because there is a high chance of it been RAW not RAI with the iron fist > magic armor.

So the iron fist counts as armor hence he can have magic armor much like a chaos sorcerer?

Yep with T5 and 5 wound too if i remember correctly... all while been a mage lol....

yea but who knows his apron could be magical and be heavy armor because all the crusted blood on there and by stack i mean like mot stacks on the ward haha.

But ya so for now he gets aod and if anyone says other wise before the faq i will tell them that they are wrong unless they can prove otherwise.

I actually wouldn't mind giving Ironguts the banner with -1 to armor save. They can effiectively beat down even 2+ armor save targets. thats -4 to their armor save.

I find BSB way better than a kitted hero, due to the WS been the only difference, there isnt really much difference to a normal Ogre, aka the rest of your army.

*edit, k for the point of 3 normal bulls you get +1 str +1 ws +1 attack. Not that much difference. So if its a BSB he can confer the boost to all the Ogre with him,
the benefits adds up more like that.

That i cant decide for you because even myself im not too sure.

Thats why i made my BSB very vague.

The BSB banner and Kitty banner are different enough to be fielded same time.
Yet they both can pass off as Dragonhide banner.

This way i can decide whom to give it to without making a 3rd banner carrier.
I have been thinking about banner of swiftness, M7 is really... especially 14 inch march.

Am I missing a rule that allows an SM to take magic armor? He's still a wizard and AB doesn't allow it.

I think the reason it works is because of the iron fist being considered to be armor hence he can take mundane armor which means he can take magic armor. Until they FAQ it.

Bingo. Some people debate it but noone in my gaming group; army book says he can take a shield (ironfist), shield=armor.. I use a tyrant/sm combo so he doesn't get armor usually in my lists anyway especially since he already has 5 wounds and can heal himself by casting maw magic..

I havent picked up any of the modes yet but a sm is definitely going to be first.
At some point there might be a tyrant and sm but for now ya just sm so he gets armor.

Here's what I use for my Tyrant though you could use him as a BSB since he has those banners on his back.

To be honest I was looking at him to be the bsb.

Love the gut plate and yea he looks so deliciously evil.

I armed him with the hammer and ironfist and put the sword on a bull body with a standard to make my bruiser/bsb.

Nice nice.

I used an aow model as my woc bsb (ill put pics up when i fix him and paint him).
There was some converting done since I didnt like the sword and the head and ya he got kit bashed hard but looks sooo good and is such a bad ass on the table.

But yes that hammer is awesome.

The rule for mundane to magical was a 6th edition rule. That rule no longer exists. Since those words aren't in the rules, the default rule that mages can't wear armor would apply(with an ironfist being an exception).

I still read it as no magic armor, and AB agrees with it.

Iron Fist is a shield isnt it? The rule book states that a wizard with armor (such as light armor, shield) as his standard equipment or option is allowed to take magic armor.

Ironfist is no longer a weapon, its just a shield now.

A shield with parry that works mounted.

He has the options so he is able to I have been talking with my local gamers and well we came up with he has the possibility of armor so he should be able to take magic armor like a chaos sorcerer.

There is a really gigantic post on this in You Make the Call. I suggest you guys read that until you're bored. You can argue it quite extensively on both sides.

But I don't think many doubt a Tyrant isn't as valuable as he used to be.

As for BRB, you can still give your bruiser Big Names if you take a magic standard

I know you can give the bruiser big names.

The thing is I am not sure if its worth giving him a magic banner as of right now it looks like he should get gear to smash stuff rather than a magic banner which IG can take and I can just put him in that unit.

The models look pretty sweet and it seems like they can take quite a bit of gear was just wondering how they were in game terms.
