Cheers guys, I've been collecting since I was 12ish until early 20's then i stopped, so all my old models form that time period including RT amrines and second edition are in there. then I restarted at about 26ish, got loads of cheap deals on warseer and Dakka, stripped the models, painted them and kept going.

I only intended to do a battle company of codex marines plus armuor, then I added a wolf company as enjoyed their codex, same with blood anges, then GK's and finally thought hey why not do a comapny of each so I have all options and can field what I want.

I'm aiming to have them and my guard army in an apoc game vs others along side my titans (Non forgeworld).

Overall cost wasn't too bad i think over all that time, I bougth models cheap or sold off somefo the kits each time to others (ike the GK's, i use just the arms and sell the kits on to make the purchase cost so little).

I'm happy i'm this close, and with still GK termies to do (20 of them) i think i'm basicalyl done bar some mroe fun cnoversions or if black templars or dark angels get some new stuff.

overall this army was painted in about 1 year, along side my guard army and my bloodbowl teams. Not that bad, and glad I spent the time making them all match now.

will pop up pic of the captains and such, and if anyone else has a model they want to see ask and i'll fire one up of that also.

Pointswise i think with only the showing equipment on them all etc it was estimated 50,000 points. I might be wrong but assuming a battle company is about 3000 points, and i've a mass of armour + razorbacks on top of the rhinos.

The money involved in a collection like that is mind blowing.

The 'almost' chapter was much cheaper than it shoudl be as i bought so much second hand. I shudde to think what it Would have cost if i'd done retail.

scarily i did all the painting over 1 year, at a few hours a night and a few extra hours at weekends.

@Smitty, I'm going by 1000 marines as a complete chapter.

Haven't fielded them all together yet, but intend to. And to build a stormbird to finish them off (As well as paint the remaining marines to break ther chapter mark. Then I'm done and bar any random models which take my fancy i'm complete on any army build for any marine codex.

Re the land raider question, I think its 7, 3 godhammers, 2 redeemers, 1 achilies, 1 crusader. the rest of the non transoprt vehicles are x3 of each including ones like baal preds which can double as more preds if want 6.

That is insane. I once wrote out an army list for the entire of my old DIY Chapter, which was around 6/7 companies if I remember right, came to over 80k pts I think.

Kudos to you good sir!
I myself would like to have the complete Salamanders Chapter, which would end up like this:
- 120 Veterans
- 330 Tactical Marines
- 210 Devastator Marines
- 20 Assault Marines
- 60 Scouts
- All the vehicles

So really, I would have an easier time then you did with only 660 Marines

If you had all the vehicles though then you would have ten times the vehicles he has. A chapter would have something like 10 landraiders, 20 predators, at least 5 each of vindicators and whirlwinds, 40 or more rhinos/razorbacks, 50 landspeeders, 100 bikes, 15 dreads and then there are the flyers.

As for the models shown here, good job. My big criticism on a project like this with the way it's been done is the lack of unit markings. It's an army so there should be markings on the pads to show squad type and number and something similar for the vehicles. If nothing else it breaks up the blue a bit. Even doing it with a marker pen would be better than leaving them blank.
