I understand, a kind of Mad Max color scheme for your Konvicts, I like the idea and don't forget to put bright colors on the hair knots that some of the orks models have

Yeah mad max style is my aim. Im not a fan of ork hair knots, most of the heads have already been trimmed.
I found the remains of a land raider in some of my stuff today, i will be turning it into a terrain piece at some point

Im back again with another update! I got stuck in modelling last night and before i knew it it was 4am
all the photos were taken on my iphone so not the best

So to kick things off i give you my take on a kommando burna

front

side

rear

otherside

i ran out of plastic rod to finish the pipes and i still have a fair bit of greenstuff to do with him
I also useed the old metal nobz arms on him as i think it works better than the plastic boyz arms

Next is my favourite

front

side

rear

other side

As with the burna still a little bit do finish on this guy

And last but not least for my new kommandos is a mini painboy field medic! (in game will be a normal kommando, just for some character)

front

side

rear

otherside

I am happy with this guy but i dont know what to put in his other hand, i was thinking maybe him dragging a fallen comrade or maybe a medic bag?

I am trying to give my kommandos a proper squad feel buy adding abit of character to the models.

Here is a few pictures of the terrain i said i was working on!

only primed with a black then a grey over the top so no details yet!

Also can anyone advise me on the best way to kit a 10man kommando squad? Is the big shooter worth the points?

Thanks for keeping me modelling guys!

i have two more kkommandos to complete the squad, any modelling ideas?

Looking very characterful! I want to do at least one of my Kommandos with a Sniper rifle (perhaps with large combat blade to count as the Choppa ) - so there's an idea for you!

Common wisdom seems to be to equip them with two Burnas - but that may only be with Snikrot... I haven't used them any other way...

The kommandoz are great! Put a nice camo sheme on them and they will RULE!

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

Small update, i need some advice on this guy.
I started building the rifle and it got abit big haha, due to the size its hard to get a good pose so i need some imput.

My inspiration was this

by garglechum, mines quite abit bigger.

This is my version bluetac is holding the body together
sorry about crap photos, i will have my slr back soon

front

side

other side

I am going to add a plsticard stock, maybe a strap and a bipod because it would not be shootable without haha
I have also ran out of backpacks..... so i need to aquire a few to finish the squad. (might use him as a counts as bigshoota some times, hes big enough)

Thanks for looking!

Pity he isn't sighting along it, though I was thinking more like this (compliments of alexneufeld):
Spoiler:

As it is - yes - a bipod would be great, maybe and/or a Grot to hold it up?

The chain might work better as the straps? (Or in addition to...)

Edit- spoiler-ed the image

Did I read that right? You are in need of my assistance? I, a devoted disciple of the Bits Box in the Sky, am ready to serve.
I have what you need.

(on topic)
great job on the sniper rifle.
I'm with Arakasi it needs a grot to hold it up not a bi-pod.

Thanks guys! I agree that it would look better aiming down the scope but it will call for drastic ork repositioning. Nothing is glued yet so i might have to sacrifice an ork to the dok for experimentation.
The grot idea is great! I dont actually own any at the moment would the plastic box set give me a grounds to work with?

Thanks primarch, i am not home at the moment (out to buy some really overpriced plasticard) but we will talk when i am

So in the end the only place that i could find plasticard is hobbycraft... £5 for a few tiny rods of plastic is abit steep for me, but i was given two free pots of citadel camo green and purple liche because they had other paint spilt on them! All in all not bad

Another update.

I had a go at repositioning the sniper kommando and need some feedback.

I like this pose and with a grot holding the barrel up i think it will look great.
The only problem is that blutac is not only holding it together but is bulking the shoulders out so the gun fits, It will take a fair bit of trimming and greenstuff to make it look right.
There is also room for the stock to be added and i think greenstuffing a dangling strap and adding a backpack of kit would finish the model
The body is from the battlewagon, i think it works because it is quite a static pose good for a sniper but i will trim the skull off and a few other bits if i go ahead with it.
Spoiler:

I also need to acquire one of these models^^^(image from Motortree) With a bit of trimming and a bit of greenstuff he will be perfect for holding the gun

What do you guys think? any idea where i can buy a single orderly model as dont need the painboy.

on another note i got some more work done on the burna kommando.

Thanks!

I like it! Don't underestimate the use of shoulder pads and plates, or better still, a Ghillie Suit or Cloak, to cover any greenstuff bulking you are unhappy with

Now if only I needed a Painboy...

Sending you a PM, because I seem to have an orderly that I never use (it is metal though).
And the sniper looks alot better, Burna kommando looks good too.

I like the ghillie suit idea, might be able to make one out of a fine cloth mesh or somthing with abit of static grass and greenstuff leaves.
or i could try and greenstuff one but im not great with material folds yet

Yet another update, more for some feedback this time.

This guys is still held together with blutac but i have drilled and pinned(not glued) the arms so i have the right positioning for the gun.
What do you think of the stock? i think it looks good simple.

grot is only there to give the idea, it will be the painboy orderly at the end.

When i find some good size mesh cloth i will be making a sort of ghilli cape to hide the arm joins.

What do you think about the base? i quite like it and if i finalize it i will cut the legs and the hips to make it abit more natural.

Although i have never played a game i still want my options open so would you accept this guy as a standard kommando? He will be played as one most of the time because I think i am planning to run two burnas in my squad.

Last i need some inspiration/ideas for my second kommando burna if you have any ideas.

Thanks!

Stock looks good - nothing wrong with simple! I was thinking a bit long - but you don't have much choice do you?

You may need to mount that Painboy orderly up pretty high to reach the barrel! Especially with the changed based (which I think looks great!). I was almost thinking the Grot you have used for "an idea" (or any Grot with an almost vertical hand) would work too - cut off the wrench and replace with a pole with a V at the top for supporting the barrel

I don't think you should have an issue using it as a standard Kommando (though transporting it might be fun...) - Rule of Cool should work here. If you are worried however - Kommandos have Sluggas and Choppas. I'd give him a Slugga sidearm and, as mentioned before, maybe a bayonet on the end of the gun, or under the barrel...

i can make it shorter but i think it evens out the gun length. Also a gun this long needs a big stock to hold it up haha.
Yeah i will put the grot on something, i will need to make a custom base to fit everything on. Thats a good idea with the grot but i think the orderly pose and facial expression looks like hes struggling to hold it up and fits better.
With the slugga and choppa i will be putting a shotgun and a axe on his backpack frt when hes up close and personal.
I am half thinking of selling my metal kommandos off and kitbashing 5 more.
I own the forgeworld big choppa nob, has anyone played this in game? or is it standard to take a pk.

On another note I acquired a thunderfire cannon the other day and i have a finecast big mek kff body in my bitz box so im planning to use the base to make a mobile shock attack gun turret.
I might buy a finecast shock attack gun off ebay or maybe even try scratch build one.

thanks!

Did I mention I thought the head looks a bit small for a Warboss?

Your first plasticard attempt with the Cybork arms looks really good - I foresee great things to come.

well, I was going to make the shooter part of his arm but now im thinking of maybe trying to make a robotic hand or even sculpting a sort of glove over a nobz hand to make it easier. I want to achive somthing like this but with two barrels like the mega armour krak.

I would put a nice flamer under the harm and use the hand and handle of the warboss bigshoota, You could always paint It in metal color to show the looted hand!
