What a crappy survey. How many different ways can they say, "you don't qualify for this survey (because you don't like GW enough)."

Let's design a survey that only aims to find out what customers that hang out in GW stores and play in GW events think. It's rather myopic to think people that have never been to a Games Workshop store aren't valued customers. And how much "bad" data is GW going to get from people simply hitting the back button, altering their responses, and continuing with the survey? That's what I did.

Kirasu: Have we fallen so far that we are excited that GW is giving us the opportunity to spend 58$ for JUST the rules? Surprised it's not "Dataslate: Assault Phase"

AlexHolker: "The power loader is a forklift. The public doesn't complain about a forklift not having frontal armour protecting the crew compartment because the only enemy it is designed to face is the OHSA violation."

AlexHolker: "Allow me to put it this way: Paramount is Skynet, reboots are termination attempts, and your childhood is John Connor."

I managed to fit in "Price increases and daft secrecy policy on new releases." though obviously this wasn't the essay I wanted to write.

Runnin up on ya.

I like how they spelled White Dwarf incorrectly on one of the slider pages. heh.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

"GW policies including RotW embargo, drastic and never ending price rises".

That was one of my comments on one of the surveys I took

Though the last one I took when it asked "where do you buy your GW crack", I put something like "I no longer buy GW products because of their recent policy changes destroying the hobby", which is a fair enough representation.

I assumed it was referring to some guy blathering on about products so you buy them rather than price reductions.

Don't think there is any necessity to explain my reasoning somehow.

If you actually read the OP, they are trying to find out about people specifically in the 'GW community' meaning folks that hang out at GW stores and play in GW events.

Again, it is a targeted survey and not meant to be for the gaming community as a whole.

If you were instead asking, why aren't they sending this in a broader fashion to everyone, you'd probably have a legitimate complaint.

Don't give up Weeble

Just tell em what they want to hear to get onto the thing, then spin them a yarn.

Not that I did any such a thing.

It's a typically cretinous approach to understanding their customer base.

Just because I don't frequent GW stores, I'm not a GW customer?

Is anyone else thinking, if this is the case, and there doesn't seem any reason why it shouldn't be, then it is the one time they could have done the stuff in store INSTEAD of using the internet?

While he stuff they are trying to hold back pretty much exclusively for the stores could be done on the internet.

I said I was in the 5-9 age range and then said I had been playing for 7 years 8 months. No complaints from the survey. I went on to mention that I'm losing interest and their prices are out of hand when they asked what has increased my interest.

Day well spent.

Hmm, after going back into the survey, it won't let me move on unless I click the 16-20 age range now... what a messed up survey.

Spoiler: At the summation of this survey, Games Workshop will announce that GWS customers are happier then they ever have been, and thus, a price hike is in order.

GW supports tournaments? Where?

Around what time did you spend the most money on your Games Workshop hobby?

When I first started playing
When I first started visiting the shop
When I started painting my figures
When I gained confidence in my abilities
When I got confident enough with the rules
When I had most spare time
When I found a Games Workshop community
When the game became a family activity
When my children/grandchildren started to play
When I established my career
When I won my first competition

There is no option I'd actually select.

Do you think you will be spending more money on your hobby next year?

Yes
No

Subtle.
By the way this is the track it gets to if you get far enough along that it cares enough to ask how long you've been in the game.
I said no, but it didn't say I was disqualified, rather it seemed like the end of it.

Indeed, it was extremely poorly laid out and worded. I personally think that a collection of data from both the "target" groups and "outlying" groups should be collected and compared - you should collect data from anyone who is willing to provide it, if nothing else so you have more data. Once you have it you can then look at the data you are interested in and compare it to the groups who you were not explicitly targeting and see if there is any difference and perhaps work out why there is a difference.

But hey, even basic logic and survey building seems to have passed GW by

It would have to have support in order for them to drop it.

Well that was fun. Much like n0t_u none of those answers really applied to me either, it was more a case of 'when I needed something that interested me'

Still, at least Games Workshop are doing something (however badly executed) to get feed back on the hobby. I mean, whats the worst that could happen?

To be fair it waits until you after you say you've spent less than £50 in the last year.

I don't believe that question is dependent on the previous question, as I said I spent more than £300 in the last year and still got it.

300 a year isn't really that much to be honest.

And I still managed to get "WHFB 8th edition is just bad, constan price increases and finecast is crap" in the "other" box for the reason why I lost interest in GW.

I would really like to be a fly in the wall of the people that are going to interpret that surveys "data".

Word up.

For a bonus, you can tell them you will be spending even less next year (if that's true, of course).

Glad they're at least asking. This kind of thing is actually a positive sign because they're wanting to hear what customers say.

I also enjoyed telling them I was planning to spend a significant amount less next year. I wish they had left a section for open commentary though.
