48 sense globes per Dalek, 30 Dalek troops, 2 layers = 2880 little bumps painted, and all those rings around the top part of the casings weren't that fun to do either.
Daleks are cool and all, but they must be some of the most boring models ever to paint.
My plan at first was to use the original silver/blue scheme for the drones, but the scheme didn't translate too well to my paintbrush and with too many different colours the army was in danger of looking a little ragtag. So I went for the 2005 reboot scheme instead (like that better anyway).

So, the troop choices are pretty much done for now, save details and basing. Time to get to the cool stuff.
(better photos will come when they're completely done)

Very cool.

I almost hat to mention this at this point... but it's well established that Daleks can fly. The may look a bit more imposing if you pinned them a few mm above the base (single pin in the center) so they'd be about the same height as a space marine (or even slightly taller). You'd get to do more with the bases that way too!

dsteingass- thanks!

Git - I am aware of this, but there are a few reasons for downplaying this:
- The most important one is that using modern flying Daleks will negate the need for cool Transolar Disks to use as Destroyers.
- a minor one is that the models would float but would still be affected by difficult terrain etc.
- another one is that they might get a tad big if I base them elevated. They're already as tall as a space marine now, while in the series they're a good head smaller than average humans.

Ah, my bad TiB... I was looking at the first pic of the unpainted models and they looked small in comparison. Just thought it would be fun to see them elevated slightly, but you make good points.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of elevation later on when I get to the Transolar Disks, the Airborne Special Weapon Types, the vehicles etc.
