Game-wise, I'd say Slaanesh due to the cheapness but effectiveness of the MoS. Then again, Noise Marines are pretty over-priced and Plague Marines and Zerkers are better units, but I think for the army as a whole, MoS has the best benefits.

Now my friend said that Noise Marines were better shooting troops than Thousand Sons because of the army you can build around them. I told him to stop licking the resin, but was he right?

Depends. Noise Marines are better anti-infantry, Thousand Sons are better anti-MEQ.
Both of them are pretty overpriced though and I wouldn't really recommend using either as anything more than an auxiliary for your army.
I wouldn't say one is better than the other personally though; shooting-wise that is.

All depends on what you want to paint and how you will build your force. My largest is a khorne themed force which is massive, but only has a single unit of berserkers in it. In the history of khorne there was nothing ever said that every follower of khorne had to be a hand to hand combatant. Khorne is just as happy to receive skulls from victims melted with heavy plasma cannon as those that are taken with a chainsword. The paint job is very easily to do and I enjoy painting the force, so I keep adding to it.

I also have nurgle and slaanesh forces. These forces are geared more closely to actual plague marine and noise marines for every squad type list, because I don't think it limits the force as much to do that. That extra point of toughness for nurgle forces can make things really difficult for opponents. I love my nurgle plague ogryns from forge world. Extra toughness + feel no pain. They scare every opponent and then soak up a ton of fire for multiple turns before going down. They *look* so creepy that they are always destroyed before they get anywhere close to doing anything useful. Makes me laugh. My friends keep killing them because of the way they look they haven't noticed that they have *never* caused a single casualty on the table top. Hahahahahahahaha! Meanwhile the rest of my force moves forward and by the time the ogryns are gone my opponent is faced with plague marines and plague terminators about to enter their deployment zone. Then it just gets really ugly.

I built my slaaneshi force because I wanted to paint something radically different colorwise. The base color for the force is: White undercoat, GW magenta ink wash, dry brush with tentacle pink or similiar light pink color. Much brighter than most things that I tend to paint, believe you me. Getting ready to sell this army, though, because I just don't play it at all and need to raise money for my next 501st costume.

Any healthy chaos player should ultimately have access to more than one of the chaos powers forcewise. I've done all four and will soon pare down to khorne and nurgle only (with all 4 powers still represented in my chaos daemons army). Each have something to bring to the table and can be fun to play.

I would say that Nurgle was best but poison really feths him over. Tzeentch is good if a bit expensive. Neshy and Khorne seem to be the two best choices

It might work if it wasn't reliant on a group of foot-slogging 21pts Space Marines that are no tougher than usual, reliant on close combat and even more reliant on getting the charge. IMHO...

Careful drinking with Nurgle. One minute it's tea and then all of the sudden you wake up wearing nothing but a Wisconsin cheese hat and orky socks

Slaanesh. Purple is such a fun color to paint and I like the idea of speed > might.

Nurgle comes a bit closer because of the myriad of greens and reds and blacks that are associated with rot

I find Nurgle best to paint normally, Slaneesh in a group. Each person has such a different way of going about it and you end with a myriad of epic.

Surprisingly, he's a lot less helpful and friendly than the god of disease and despair. Still, even if Tzeentch and Nurgle are supposed to be rivals, I like them more than Khorne and Slaanesh.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

It's a mark of the galaxy that the god of despair is more likable than the god of hope.

No argument there. As much as the invulnerable save is nice, I wouldn't mind being devoted to the Lord of Decay even if it did mean having a rotting (but unfeeling and oh so quick regen) body. Probably because he's the only Chaos Power who gives a damn about his followers.

Yeah, but Khorne is not about anarchy. He is about collecting skulls for his throne and intense violence. I don't like the idea of any one trick army. Too tactically limited and easily dealt with.

I've gotta say Tzeentch, I'm just waiting for the box set to be re-done (unlikely) or Forge World to release a conversion kit and I am going to build a huge army of Thousand Sons.

But more back on topic, Tzeentch is just the coolest.
You like birds? Who doesn't? Magic? Of course you do, everybody does. Multi coloured fire? Hey, that shouldn't even need asking. What about anthropomorphic blobs with several limbs and giant mouths? You do, it reminds you of the monster under your bed you scared away aged 7.
Well Tzeentch has all that sh*t. All of it. And more.
