Work that I got done today, I wanted to get more done, but all those mesurements and cutting took a long time. Longer then anticipated. But otherwise I am very happy with the progress.

Ok - looking really good mate.

A few suggestions - start looking at how much it is going to weigh when painted - and where the 'Feet' will be supported/mounted. The Paint adds a great deal to the weight of the Model - as does the Bling/addons. If you are going to have Minis inside as well - even more support will be required.

I admire your Zeal - but also consider the fragility of making something this size out of the product you are using. As stupid as it may sound - MDF is your friend when it comes to things of this size. When Guns/cranes are mounted on the Armatures - it can literally 'peel' the model away from itself. So - if you have considered all these things - and I am just sounding like a fool - no worries

Thank you, I have not. What is MDF? Is it Plasticard?

There are not going to be feet, it is going to be propelled on 10 wheels (8in long, 5in wide) of which will be made out of PVC plumbers piping and plasticard to make it look orky. I was planning on reinforcing it, but now I plan to even more so. This is not going to be an easy task, but fun...

You should be using plastic glue, rather than regular super glue. That will hold the model together VERY well.

Also, you should be building in internal supports. Things like columns in the center of the floor (2 to 4 per level) and braces along the sides. The columns can be modeled to look like smoke stacks, vents, weapon bays, etc.

Oh... and, when you slice off a piece of yourself, do NOT try to close it with superglue. Superglue should be reserved for regular cuts, not removed pieces of flesh.

For sure. Id imagine Ork gargants would have all kinds of funky plumbing inside them...exhausts, huge power cables, etc. Even a couple of huge, banged up I beam girders crisscrossing the thing inside...remember Orks arent going to hide thier supports behind walls and stuff...that kind of easthetic thinking escapes them.

Well I hadn't worked on it at all during xmas or new years, with all the familay parties and children being home I didn't have much time.
[Thumb - Shoulder Joints.jpg]
These are the shoulder joints that will connect to the shoulders from the main body (I cannot figure out how to make the joints movable so it will probably be static)

[Thumb - Shoulder and Upper Arms.jpg]
These are the two shoulder/upper arms that show inside of the left side

[Thumb - Neck.jpg]
This is the the neck joint that will allow the head to rotate

[Thumb - Head Back Interior.jpg]
This shows the work so far on the interior of the head, the left side will be for the ork pilots and the right side will be for a viewing area

[Thumb - Head Front.jpg]
This view shows the magnifying glass that I used for the viewing room

[Thumb - Head Close Up.jpg]
The light coming from the eye is from the flash from the phone camera

[Thumb - Full Body.jpg]
This is the copleted frame of the Gargant, now to start working on the interior and all the dohickies and whatnots that will be put on it, not to mention all the Dakka

Do you think it looks to wide?

I am not sure and might add another layer on the bottom just for the wheels, it would only add an inch or two, but that way the wheel gears and whatnot will not be in the way of the garage either...

Yes, yes the size is insane...and for the record I have two stompas (one mr. potato head and one normal), one Reaver Titan (Armorcast), and one Shadowsword (Armorcast). The other thing up there is an AT-AT from the Star Wars minature game.

I am thinking about creating some Ork Drop-pods next and then maybe an Ork Krawla or Landa or mayby a smaller gargant (size of a reaver or whatnot) after that.

Well, I am being put on pause for a little bit, as I ran out of glue for my glue gun. Apparently they stopped making the kind of glue I use (oval - low temp) and it being after xmas, we are still trying to recover from spoiling our children. But to keep up with my weekly updates…I decided to create some crew for the Gargant. (I am not good with green stuff, so I didn’t use any, mostly kitbashing)
[Thumb - Gargant Kaptin.jpg]
This is the Gargant Kaptin

[Thumb - Belly Weapon Officer.jpg]
This I think is going to be the Belly Gun Officer

[Thumb - Left Arm Officer.jpg]
This will be the Left Arm Officer, where the Hospital and DeffKopter Hanger/Helipad will be

[Thumb - Right Arm Officer.jpg]
This will be the Right Arm Officer, where the Stormboyz and the Grot Pulsa Rokkits will be

[Thumb - Sensor Officer.jpg]
This is going to be the Sensor Officer, for the Head

[Thumb - Mekboy Officer.jpg]
This is the Mekboy Officer, to keep all the Mekboys inline

[Thumb - Garage Mekboy.jpg]
This Mekboy will be incharge of the Garage (trukks and Battlewagons)

[Thumb - Weapon Mekboy.jpg]
This is going to be a Weapon Mekboy, but dont know where I will put him yet

[Thumb - Repair Mekboy.jpg]
This will be some sort of a Repair Mekboy (I know that is redundant)

[Thumb - Welder Mekboy.jpg]
This is just a Mekboy Welder...will be somewhere in the Gargant

Ok, so with the lack of materials and glue over, I have started again. Wanting to add some more height, I added a lower floor that would only be accessible to Gretchen/Grots/Goblins/etc… to hold the axels for the large wheels that would move this vehicle. I wanted to be able to see under the garage floor into the compartment below. So, I used "Plastic Canvas" to accomplish this. Below are some pictures to show you what it looks like.
