I don't know, could be anything really. I would have thought illusionary weapons, but the Guardian has that...

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

The necromancer has been described as the condition (the hex replacement) specialist, the engineer has skill mimicry as well as attack reflecting skills, the guardian has illusionary weapons and the elementalist has unbound magic attacks...

Seriously there is nothing from gw1's mesmer left for gw2 other than the theme, it's strange.

Would mean only his Interrupts are left.

Well, his Cooldown skills are still there.

Lack of Energy, which means a lack of Exhaustion and such, makes my Arcane Anyruism Mesmer a sad panda :(

No exhaustion, no energy and interupts are "very rare and have long coolsdowns" according to the devs.

It's strange.

Quite possibly they scrapped him?

Also, I'm fairly certain that if we Expand into Cantha, Tengu will be the playable race.

Oh, and how many turrets can the Engineer have at one time? I've always assumed one.

One per turret skill AFAIK, like necromancer minions.

The mesmer is pretty much confirmed, what it can actually do is a mystery though.

Warriors with their ability to use ranged weapons have had a significant paradigm shift in their utility.

Elementalists with their water specialization being quite healy-buffy rather than hurty-hexy have had a shift as well.

No doubt Mesmers will have a shift. Maybe they'll be a scholar class with the ability to use pistols, swords, rifles, or any other weapons that other scholar classes do not use.

Mesmers' ability to echo hasn't been confirmed or denied.

Echo would be an incredibly powerful skill in GW2 now that activation times are the only penalty for skill usage, I hadn't thought of that at all...

That said it isn't likely to be a primary mechanic, getting rid of recharge times is the thief's big thing with initiative.

As for pistols and swords? I don't doubt it, necromancers can use axes after all so it would be quite fitting.

If they give Mesmers Rapier's, I shan't be able to resist maining one.

That's from the first game, though, and there were no rapiers in there.

Though I did really enjoy Illusionary Weaponry....

It is a good look though

I mean they won't get rapiers specifically but swords are something I'm really hoping for.

Illusionary Pirates, what with the Seathunder Pistol and (Hopefully) a Cutless.

With what is essentially a pirate city being one of the largest cities in the game I'm pretty sure a cutlass is in the game, that said I'm doubtful mesmers will be able to use non-caster weapons in their mainhand as thieves already have the whole gun and blade with light armour thing sorted.

That makes me sad

I really want to be able to do pistol/sword or sword/pistol for a Mesmer now

Sword/pistol would be my dream combo for Mesmers.

Illusory bullet, anyone?

You know what they might do for Mesmers? At least one of their skills, anyway.

League of Legends has two people who stealth themselves for a split second, and then reamerge with a clone of themselves, forcing the enemy to decide on which one is the real one. How awesome would that be for GW2?

Is there any dual classing in GW2?

I used mesmer more as my secondary class than my primary.

Duel Classing got Axed to try to increase player interaction, so that one person couldn't set up his own combos and such. My understanding of it at least.

Mesmers have always been the class I want to play the most but am absolutely terrible at. I think I've only found three builds that work for me, non of which are interrupters, argueably what the Mesmer is supposed to be.

Can I shut people down? Yes. Can I do it with style and finese? No.

But Brute Force is so common, gentlemen know how to apply Finese to a situation.

However Slarg, sometimes the answer really is to set everything on fire.

Pro Elementalist!

If that's the case, I'd want one char if each class, unless there's a class which is a dedicated "healer" role (which I won't play-- buffer maybe, but not healer).

No class is dedicated to any role really, you are supposed to adapt to what your team needs fluidly and healing is extremely weak in this game.

As for dual classing, it was a balance issue really. ANET found that it's pretty much impossible to make each profession balanced individually and also balanced when dual-classed with every other profession in the game.

Dual classing got axed? Yay!

And to be fair, for guys who all took arrows to the knee, they can run pretty well.
