Best one had to be from the new codex for DE. Starts out with Rakarth and three normal haemonculi and the webway assault strategem (yes apoc game). Then I took 3 maxed out squads of grotesques that's 3 x 10 30 guys. They all got the +1S from Rakarth and then I put them in the Carnival of Pain data sheet...so now they have combat drugs that can stack. Pregame roll was +1 S Thats now base S7 Furious Charging meat monsters with 3 wounds FNP and 4 attacks...oh and the sgt upgrade with scissorhands for the extra attack. Carnival of Pain says you roll every turn on the drug table and that effect stacks for this turn/game turn (not sure which). The turn they roll out they have another +1 S. So now we are at 40-50 S8 swings (9 on the charge yeah 50 S 9 swings booyeah!) A baneblade company and the nearby masters of the chapter got ripped up. I believe they went on to take out another 2 land raiders, and 3 tac squads before the first went beserk killing off the second...oh well they are fun but 1200+ points is not competive in any army.

Pestilent Plague Marine with Blight Grenade
|
I made a list for my brother as a serious, "This is what Ultra Marines can do for lawls"
Marneus with term armor, then for good measure throw in 30 honor guard with relic blades in rhinos. To get Troops, 2 squads of 5 lol.
Blitzkrieg of blue 4tw.
Also as the good book puts it, "I will be neither chivalrous nor sporting. If I have an unstoppable superweapon, I will use it as early and as often as possible instead of keeping it in reserve."
I frequently use a Lemun Russ with Plasma EVERYTHING, all the while running a Command Squad with Strakken with a kitted out command squad. Do I go for the biggest guy on the board? Hell no, I go whoop up on some troops and shoot the hell out of that 200 some point HQ unit my brothers are rolling around with.
And letting Pask sit out in the open when there is a vanquisher out there......why???? Sit back in cover and dare their troops to get near you and your 5 plasma AP 2 plates

One thing I do is run a list where everything has an av, except the 1+ crisis commander who I kit out as a suicide unit.
I have Piranha TX42s to replace my crisis suits, since they have the same weapons.
I use 2x Railheads and a skyray for HS
I use min troops requirements, with warfishes.

I played an Apoc Game where I had Lysander, Vulkan, Terminator-Armored Captain, another Captain, a Librarian, and a Command Squad all packing power fists, meltaguns and storm shields in a drop pod. Was a hilarious death-ball that nicely complemented the 10-Chapter Master "Tactical Squad" and the 4-Jump Captain "Assault Squad" I also ran. Came out to around 4000 points or so. Twas a silly game.

My Wolf Scouts and a Outflanking Wolf Priest nearly tabled a Guard army that on first turn blew my Foot slogging list out into the sky in pieces.
It was such a blood bath that a whole blob was held back by the Wolf Priest alone. This was including Commisars and power fist baring sarges.

I keep wanting to run a unit of Khorne Terminator Champions with twin Lightning Claws (and a chainfist or two thrown in for good measure), but it has two serious problems: not being able to get into a land raider with any serious numbers, and being inferior to TH/SS Terminators in almost every way (except number of attacks).

Chaos bikers are just to expensive pointswise (and not cheap model wise too). Otherwise, I might be tempted to try out a big squad of 10 chaos bikers with Mark of Nurgle, with the most expensive upgrades I can buy.
Its toughness 6 CSM bikers who can turboboost. Sounds like fun.
Necrons can also create some ridiculous units with their royal courts if you take all upgrades. I mean, imagine 2 necron overlords, full upgrades, plus a royal court of 5 lords and 5 crypteks, also with full upgrades. lol

Uhh, I don't know if this counts or not, but I used to run Al'rahem with two 20-man power blobs. Because they were in the same platoon, I always had the option of keeping them as one huge blob, which I never did... until a KP game I played once.
42 models, 88 attacks on the charge, 370 points of outflanking madness.
More to the point, apart from the tactical sense it made, there was a part of me that was definitely thinking "I should outflank a 42 model squad... because I can".

So the ridiculously expensive unit did what it's supposed to do? * le gasp* As far as regular 40K goes I have outflanked a maxed out Al'Rahem platoon with 9 lascannons, 6 Heavy Bolters, 10 Plasmaguns, and a blob of 50 guardsmen toting 5 flamers with 5 Commissars and 10 power weapons. All the 50 man blob really accomplishes is it creates a CC mosh pit that eventually sucks in both entire armies. It is quite a beautiful sight.
