Spearhead has non-apoc rules for the baneblade IIRC, and there's no points minimum for spearhead either.

It'll be tough, but some carnifexes paired up with a couple zoans might bring it down. But don't forget you still need to worry about the rest of the army. Is he running infantry heavy or veteran heavy guard?

On a side note, could you even fit a manta into a 2k list?

isn't it something like 2000 points by itself?

That's the point.

I would be the entire army, and at that point level, I doubt anything in the game would have a very good chance of destroying it at all. Especially since it's firing back the whole time with it's 20+ guns.

Fair to say OP got shafted by his opponant.
Of course he won, he had a baneblade. There's a reason they're not allowed in normal 40k games.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

No one had a chance. Every round he played he had basically won by the second turn.

I can see that. The baneblade's main cannon can blow up anything without too much fuss.I'd be horrified to see a baneblade in a 3k game, let alone a 1500 D:

Really? As far as Super-heavies go, Baneblades aren't too bad. I faced a Baneblade, Shadowsword and Vortex Missile Launcher in a 3000pt game with no Super-heavies of my own, and still pulled out a draw.

Second that. In my first apoc game ever, our side had two standard stompas between four players, while the opposing side had 10 baneblades in all flavours, supported by about every bloodangel in the codex who were riding devilfishes for some reason. They still lost the game due to being unable to shoot 2k points of scoring orks off the center objective. That and our air-cavalry helping out: a formation of 30 koptaz suicided into one of the more evil baneblade variants while vendettas were dropping meltabombs attached to 'umies all over the place.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Exactly, even in my battle report versus 6 Titans and a ton of other Super Heavies they were still cruising towards a loss because we owned more objectives than they did. Unfortunately my allies quit because they were getting pounded.

The OP didnt say Spearhead tournie, so I also assumed he got cheated by the baneblade player :( Theres a reason it's called a superheavy.
There'd be a chance for the Nids in a 3K game, but in 1.5K it will simply dominate the field unchallenged. No fun at all.

Blessed is the mind too small for doubts.

Thanks for all the info. I'll be sure to tell him he can't use a baneblade in non-apoc.
