Great work on the Lady Inq Prime! Kudos to you for using Isabella...I mentioned this on PDH's thread, she's super, super tiny...I took one look at her and thought; "I've got no chance with this! Even if I managed to convert her, I'd never paint it well!" Haha but you've done a really good job!

I love that particular las pistol, have one I'm waiting to use for a character myself. I wouldn't stress about the DE plates, I had a lot of people comment that they didn't like them on a few of my characters so I did rework them...removed glyths, spikes, ovals etc but on my vampy rouge trader countess they just seemed to fit her so kept much of it unchanged (WIP pic below if you haven't seen her) As your gal is an Imperial Inquisitor I'd say just slap a few p.seals over the odd bit and job done!

It's been a bit of a nightmare working with Isabella. Not only was the sprue full of flash and the model full of wonky details and bubbles, but the arm holding the chalice of blood was missing. Coupled with the fact that she is absolutely tiny and that the resin medium is as brittle as sin, it's been quite a project. Fun, but hell, too.

Also, nothing fixes modeling problems like purity seals....

You should have returned the model and got a replacement if it wasn't complete when you bought it.

Good start on her so far....and great minds and all that!

The priest is cool...really like the bionic eye.

Night Lord is great...like his ruffled collar and ceremonial helmet. I hope you've read Soul Hunter and follow ups.

Yeah, I really should have, but I didn't get around to it. Didn't need the arm, and I bought it from a 3rd party, so I didn't want to jump through those hoops. (Read as: Too lazy...)

Hah! Thanks I'll be looking to see how your version comes along.
The priest is cool...really like the bionic eye.

The priest has been a blast to do. I don't really have much experience working with and trying to convert metal models, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but still, he's turned out a lot better than I though he would. As for the eye, I ended up seeing another pic of the model (unaltered) and thought, "Hey! That one doesn't have a bionic eye. Did I get some sort of recast?"
Night Lord is great...like his ruffled collar and ceremonial helmet. I hope you've read Soul Hunter and follow ups.

The ruffled collar was a bit of a lucky accident, so I am tickled pink to hear that you like it And yes, I have read Soul Hunter, and quite enjoyed it. Will probably have to read it again now that you've mentioned it

I'm going to try to have the Saint painted and the Lady converted by Friday, so keep an eye out for updates by then
Cheers!

I got some more work on the Saint done, mostly touching up his hat and sash thing, as well as doing his base. The problem is that I look at the model and can't really see it as done, like it needs something else. Of course, I have no idea what that is What do you guys think?

I've also done some more work on the Lady, namely starting a backpack for her, and the beginings of resculpting her dress. My experiance with greenstuff is limited, and this is the first time I've tried to sculpt fabric. It's harder than it looks! Anyways, on with the pics!

The fabric is really, really rough now, pending another few layers of green stuff. Still, it probably won't ever get that smooth. Tips would be really great, if you have any, I'd love to hear them.

...And her backpack/head hose. Guitar wire doesn't like to play nice, but a few minutes spent wrestling with it seems well worth it. Looking at the picutres, it becomes quite evident that I really need to clean up her robes some more. finecast...Oh well. It's nicer than metal

Feedback is always welcome, but would be especially nice now

Take it easy

Prime don't wrestle with guitar wire. Once you go zinge industries you'll never go back. His wire wrapped cable is the best thing since sliced bread. I do like her backpack and that you've given her head cabling. You really do need to clean up her robes though.

Ah and on other thing I missed it last time...I really like the handle on the priests chainsword.

I don't know why its taken me so long to comment on this blog, been following it for a while and I have to say its fantastic, can't wait to see more.

The priest is great, a really effective conversion and the lady is looking good, very, very creepy.

Long time, no update. I apologize

@smiler, Thanks a lot for the encouragement. I hope I can keep providing
@PDH, I took a look at zinge, and they appear to be cheap as chips, so I'll definately try to get my mitts on some cabling as soon as I can. Thanks a lot for the sugestion

I've been swamped with schoolwork and university application shenanigans, and so have been kept quite busy of late. I have had a chance to get some modeling done, though. I added another (smoother) layer of GS to the Lady's robes, but it's not really remarkable enough to warrant pictures.

I've also started working on a hunched little mutant who will be accompanying the Lady, cleansing the unclean with his trusty flamethrower, or so goes my idea. I've started with a WFB ghoul as a base, but I'm at a loss for the arms. I think I'll be using the standard cadian (or even better: DKoK)flamethrower as a base and try to get it to fit ghoul arms, pending the acquisition of some bitz.

Anyways, here's the progress. I've started a pair of boots for the chap, as bare feet seems like a bad idea in the underhive and mines of Haemos.

The sculpting work is really really rough, but the idea is to have a pair of steel-toed boots in the end. I'm dreading sculpting laces (I can hardly tie my own, let alone sculpt them in miniature) so I'll leave the boots flopping open without them.

I'm also going to give the character (no name yet, suggestions?) a Phantom of the Opera style mask, but I can't decide which one I like more.

I think the closed-jaw head with a nose may be the one I go for, with an added cigar, of course.

Anyways, that's that. I want to get the Lady done soon, so that'll probably be the next update

Until then, I'd love to hear from you

J

The masks are looking really interesting mate, love the idea of these deformed creatures trying to present a facade of humanity. Can't wait to see where you take it

Hah, thanks! I can't say the idea is completely original, with the inspiration for the mutant based on a ghoul "borrowed" from PDH's, well, ghoul mutant.
Spoiler:
The mask idea is a sort of conglomeration of some of the stuff from over here. http://footoftape.blogspot.com/2010/04/burn-witchand-such.html (an awesome blog, by the way)
The general layout of the masks, especially the one on the right, is LOTR berserker all the way.

Credit where credit is due, of course

If anyone has a spare cadian flamer, or preferably, a death korps of krieg flamer, I'd love to set up a trade. Shoot me a PM if you like

What tools are you using to work the GS?

As Einstein said, "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources." Of course, that never seems to work on my term papers.

I've just been using a hobby knife and sandpaper, but I recently carved a little shaper tool out of a spare bit of finecast sprue, so I have that, too. It works dubiously at best, but it's better than just the knife.

Hey guys!
I've just gotten off of spring break, which was a well deserved and sorely needed vacation from school I managed to make a trip out to Boston University, which is probably the school that I'll be attending next fall. (anyone from around there feel free to PM me )

Unfortunately, the break did not allow for much painting time, and what little there was needed to be used on my dark eldar (another blog, I think, tba) I did get to do some work on one of my favorite models, a witch hunter acolyte with a torch and a book. Enough chitchat, pics!

...and some of his book. A good read, I hope.

Pending some feedback and a few retouches, I think I'm going to call it a job well done.

As always, I'd love to hear what you think.

Great work here I really like the first mutant. The Lady Inquisitor reminds me a lot of some in the Dark Heresy rulebook was that deliberate?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

@IdentifyZero, I'm truly awful at GSing anything. All it takes is some practice, and a healthy sense of delusion

@Baiyuan, Thanks!

@Llamahead, I haven't actually looked through the Dark Heresy rulebook before, so the similarity is entirely coincidental

Hey, you! Yes, you. Come here. You like dreadnoughts, right?

The forgeworld chaplain dread for use as a furioso or perhaps a death company dreadnought. I couldn't figure out how to paint the purity seals, thinking that the parchment color would look exactly like the bone, and the wax would look like the wings, so I decided to go with orange for the cloth and blue (maybe) for the wax.

The base is done, too, so I'll get pics of that up soon. Also, I've started a blog for my fledgling dark eldar army, so check that out too!

(I was going to end this with a "cheers," but I think I always do that. No, today I'll try something new!)

....

I have nothing.

I love the Isabella model, I am using it in an upcoming Chaos Necromunda gang as a fallen noble woman corrupted by Slaanesh. Though I bought the best one in the shop it still had plenty of defects, maybe as she is so tiny she is more susceptible to bubbles and things. Have you tried using liquid greenstuff to smooth out her robes? I can't tell if that is what you have used already but I think with a lot of thin layers you could get a smooth finish.

Liquid greenstuff is a good suggestion. I've never used the stuff, but it might be worth a try. Does it work well for you?

I'd like to see your take on the lady, too

I only got some recently and I love it so far, I plan on using plenty on my Isabella to hide the areas where I have scraped off the roses. I've had some great results using it to hide the cracks where arms join to torsos etc, seems like a really useful item.

Hey guys,

I've had a fairly productive weekend, despite a formal on friday and Mother's day today. I spent the day making my mom spaghetti, which was fantastically good, despite the evaporated milk (in spaghetti? Heresy!) curdling a bit. It was really nice to be able to spend a day just cooking for my family, something I love doing but haven't done in a long time. Definitely felt rusty, though. Managing five pans at once whilst simultaneously chopping vegetables is just about as hard as it sounds, though it's much more fun.

But more on topic, I got some work done on the mutant flamer guy, who I think I'll call "Boots." I managed to mooch some guard flamer bits off of a friend, and made a fuel tank to go on his back, as well as get the first layer of GS straps down on him, too. I...don't...actually have pictures, but I'll snap some tomorrow in the daylight.
My last AP exam is tomorrow, too. Biology, ugh...

Hug your mums!

I hope you're ok with it, but I "hugged" your mom last night, so....
As for pictures, I could take your que and tease, but no! I am a benevolent lord "Let there be pics!" and there were pics!

Boots, the mutant

I need to figure out some hose arrangement for his flamer. Origionally, I was going to run a line from the bottom of the wand to the spigot on the tank, but that would require a lot of awkward cabling, so I think that I'll run the hose from the near end of the tank to the top of the thrower. All in all, I'm quite pleased with him. There are some more things to do for sure, but he's complete enough to see the final product. I'm suprised at how much my sculpting has improved over time and with practice, but it's still pretty bad

As always, I'd love to hear what you think!

is that a socket wrench on top of his fuel can?
on a completely related note looks good. do you use any thing to sand down your gs?

He looks cool, I love his overabundance of things on his back. It looks like he would reach behind him and turn the wrench to start up his flamer which is a nice touch, that or someone opens it up for him.

If you need cables, try the pewter ones from Dragon Forge (although I think I got mine on ebay), they are really easy to work with.
