Poll
How will necrons do against an angry non-mechanized Blood Angels army?
BA wins. BA has just as much speed but better assault and better resiliency.
Draw. They will both tarpit each other.
Necron wins. They manage to pull one out of their a$$.

Battle report completed.

Janthkin wrote:I disagree. He moved the 3 closest models into BtB, as required. He moved the next 2 models into coherency with a model in BtB (because they couldn't reach BtB - blocked off by the first 3), as required. The next model to move couldn't reach BtB or coherency with a model in BtB (blocked off by the 4th & 5th models), so it moved into coherency with an already-moved model. Ditto the 7th model. The last two can now reach BtB with the Warriors, while also being coherent w/the 7th model.

Correct. So says the king of multi-assaults, so it must be true.

Yeah, he declared the command barge as the primary target for assault and rolled 5" for his assault move. After the 1st 3 models got into base, no other models could get into base with the barge. He then moved the next 2 models to within 2" of the models in base and positioned them in such a way as to to block off any other model from making it within 2" of the models in base. Thus, the rest could be strung out at a maximum 2" coherency to allow for the multi-assault.

Maybe 1 more guy could've made it to within 2" of a model in base, but he still would've made the multi-assault even if that was the case.

Thanks. Glad you've enjoyed them, and I will continue to churn out informative and entertaining battle reports.

I've got to admit that I've learned quite alot of stuff from your reports jy2. I'm even experimenting with strike squads and interceptors due to your purifier builds (worked great actually)

After this one, can you do an IG list?

Sure, I'll try to find an IG player. Maybe even against Reece himself. Last I heard, he won a 1500 tournament with his 6 leman russ army.

jy2, you are a crafty general to say the least.

Thanks.

There is that aspect to my reports, but sometimes it's also because I am busy with work, family, Christmas shopping and just playing the games.

BTW, we should play sometimes. It's been a while since I've destroyed a Dark Eldar army. Just kidding.

I like it, it's a crafty way in which to make the battle report less passive - the reader gets some stake in the report and wants to read it more. And if it has "to be continued" then it leaves them even more at your mercy.

Huzzah! Think mistakes were made on both fronts but all in all a really tense finish. Glad the necrons pulled it out though, well played.

Excellent write up jy2. I've already e-mailed you my post-game analysis. A lot of times, the outcome of the game depended on single dice rolls. Despite numerous mistakes, I'm quite satisfied with the results. Also, thanks for letting me borrow your Assault Terminators.

I'm actually trying to come out with the whole report now. This is the first time in a while that I've had to break up my report due to not having enough time to finish it in 1 go.

I usually put up the teaser first for people's comments. Then it takes some time to edit and upload all those pictures as well as write the battle report so usually the report won't be up until the next day.

Yeah, SabrX already gave me his post-game with a list of his mistakes. I will list my mistakes as well in my post-game.

I'm happy for the win. I actually thought that I was going to get my butt kicked by SabrX's very dangerous blood angels.

Thanks for the 2 intense games and thanks for writing up your pre/post-games. I'll be posting it as soon as I finish writing mine. I think your list matches up well against mine, and I've available for the rematch whenever you want.

Well Jy2, with another Victory on your hands, I think it's time for a matchup against Janthkin's Tyranids!

Very well played though, both by you and SaberX

Amazing.

Jy2, great batrep, Way to pull out the W against a dedicated assault army, stick that on the wraithwing IS competitive side of the scale.

Joking aside that is exactly what you do! Our games are not interesting or close, except on the first turn and then it goes down hill for me from there. Until I embrace MSU/min-max/WAAC style gaming I am afraid I will not be much of a game. No, maybe in a tournament some time but right I am unworthy for the internet personalities.

Other than that, I am glad you have moved away from your last "starter army" experiments and picked up a more challenging codex - I think this is much more entertaining for everyone.

Definitely will play against Janthkin when he gets back from vaca. I suspect my wraithwing-scarab-farm build will do better against his army than Reece's scarab-farm build.

I believe he wounded me about 3-4 times and I made all my saves.

Yeah, I think wraithwing and scarab-farm are 2 of the most competitive builds the new necrons have to offer. I just combined them to get the best of both worlds.

Ironic that competitive necrons are anything but shooty, isn't it?

Killed a couple of marines here and there, not not much else. He didn't have any tanks for me to shoot.

I know you're wondering what's the use in those crypteks, besides the Solar Pulse. Here are 2 more subtle uses for them:

1) I still believe one of my main weaknesses will be against Draigowing. That's where the crypteks come in. Against paladins, I leave crypteks in their own unit and fire 4-5 lances at the paladins to hopefully insta-gib a couple or so.

2) Objective-contesting. I was hoping it would happen this game but it didn't. Wipe out my warriors on the objective and my opponent thinks he's got the objective, that is, until my cryptek gets back up to contest it. Lol. Well, it's a 1 in 3 shot anyways.

I like competitive matches, but I try to adjust to my level of competition. For instance, if my opponent plays more of a fluffly list, then I will tone down my list somewhat. Sometimes this is good as I get to use units I don't normally use.

I actually have a healthy respect for DE and think they are a very good army. That's why against an experienced DE player who knows what he is doing (like yourself), I usually bring out my more competitive armies. I reserve nothing but the best for a worthy adversary and potentially very dangerous army.

LoL jy,

You speak with silver tongue but I will admit I always had fun losing in a sick, sadistic sort of way - it must be the DE in me.

You are fun to play against, perhaps we will meet after the christmas holiday.

Cheers
