I totally understand. Starting an army is an ongoing process that takes a lot of time and money, though in my opinion it's worth all of it. That being said, life always comes first.

I usually buy one box per paycheck, or every 2 paychecks if the thing I want to buy is particularly expensive, like a Stormraven or Land Raider. This makes building a new army times consuming (unless you have another one to sell/start from), but it's well worth the effort.

Predator paint update~
honestly i cant tell if the paint job is just sloppy, not well planned or i dedicated so much time to it today that im just overall disgusted with it
cant do much else with it now so if anyone has any opinions or comments there more than welcome.

last picture is to show side by side color scheme comparison with some of my painted CSM.
i know it needs touch ups in spots just so tired of focusing at the thing

@the3maninblak
Oh i agree. i got to play a single game of warhammer borrowing a friends Blood angels while he played a tourny with his black templar it was insanely fun! any misgivings i had about investing money into this hobby left after that game. the friends iv made play tau, orcs and spacemarines [salamanders] as well as sisters. being one of the few chaos oriented players i have met i cant wait to get my army together and its making this seemingly slow crawl into the hobby seem excruciating. but as you said life always comes first.

O.o I really like the color scheme on that tank. It's really eye catching. Great job!

Honestly, the only "sloppy" parts I saw were where you let colors bleed over onto other edges. Other than that, great paint job! Infantry are coming along very well too.

Thanks alot!
Yeah I'm trying to patch up some of the edges but I keep spotting new areas and I'm trying not to get to side tracked from painting my CSM, so far iv only gotten 3 more done after my first 3. I know it's a matter of patients and taking the time to do it right but I don't want to fall behind and then look at the 29 pieces I have unpainted and just not want to bother lol.

Oh here is a question, so far I plan on buying Gryphoone Sepia , Devlin mud and badda black washes and I'm curious which would be better to give skulls/bones a nice warn look?

@ DeathRex

The tank looks amazing! I agree withsome of the bleeding spots, but other than that, it looks great! I hope my SW Vindicator comes out that well. As for the Question, I would wash it in bada black. All of my skulls/teeth/bone are all washed with Bada Black. I love the look. I have some pics in my blog of some of my SW that have wolf skulls on the storm bolters. Check it out, it will give you an idea of the out come. Link is in the sig! O.....Its funny that you say that about not wanting to paint 29 models! Thats so me! Ive had my nids for like 8 months, and I dont even have a quarter of them painted!

I use badab black with a little bit of devlan mud to give an aging effect to my skulls and scrollwork. And try to paint one model per night. Youd be suprised at how much you can get done.

@imperial renegade
Lol yeah I can see we have that in common. I hope to see more of your space wolves, given how long it's taken so far how long till you think you'll field them? So far my friends at Adventure Games usually play Space Marines (salamanders), sisters, tau, blood angels, knights Templar and Orcs. One of the guys has daemons and imperial guard and someone else is starting a space wolf army. Its all friendly games so you can try out your tactics. We meet up on Saturday's and random days. Figured it might help ya.

Thanks both of you with the help with the washes on the skulls. I appreciate the help

Not long, I already have a playable force, but I only make it up to Adventure Games when I play with my nids. I am practicing for a big Apocolyps battel me and my friends are doing in the summer.

There is a apoc game this coming month at Adventure Games, you know about it? Could be more practice if you got the time.

Color scheme is solid, nothing to add except take a break and then go back and do some minor trim fixes where the paint bled over on edges, etc. Looking really good, you have a distinctly unique and vibrant look to your army so far.

Thanks for the advice, it seems like the most sensible thing to do other than obsess over every detail which as I'm sure you know hasn't been working out to well for me
I'm glad you like my war bands look so far, given it being my first time painting anything I'm 2nd guessing myself a lot so every bit of feedback (good or bad) helps.

++Update++

got my hands on some washes, i used Gryphonne Sepia on these models and it seems to be giving them a desert feel. i used Devlan Mud for the boots on some to give darker tones to certain areas.. sadly the photos dont reflect much difference at least not as much as i think i see. maybe i should apply more?

++++++
Berserkers!
i got myself a few berserkers and had some fun painting them up! used badab black wash.

those are two mutated berserkers

'Mad dash' berserker.

Skull champion with a powerfist and bolt pistol.

The banner is not complete yet, need some heads or skulls to cover each end post of the banner.

this is a facial close up, last minute during taking pictures i figured i would try free handing the into his forehead..
given the idea of carving something on your own forehead i dont think it looks to bad
btw this is another Skull champ with three fingered power fist and plasma pistol... oh and a banner on his back for dramatic zealot flare.

The freehand on that berzerker's head is really something. It's interesting to see already the leaps and bounds your skills are coming along at.

Got a chaos lord typhus a few days ago and am waiting on bits for my traitor space wolves terminators!

I'm just a little unsure I'd I should change the space wolves all to much. I'm adding chaos pieces and giving them a darker color scheme but I want it to look more like they dyed Thier normal armor and simply took parts of chaos term weaponry. So sort of thrown together with the paint schemes sort if cashing were you can see where on ends and the other begins.

That's my idea anyway, wasn't sure if it's Been done (probably has) or if so if it came Out looking good. I dont want to have to start From scratch if it's hideous lol.

@jbrehaut
Thanks alot for the kind words

Berserk champion=
did work on his 'three finger' power fist that looked alot like the hand of a teenaged mutant ninja turtle
and evened him out to four fingers 9(like my other champ has )

~~Lord Typhus
not really chaos undivided and despite my interest in plague marines/death guard/all things Nurgle i dont have much
plans in expanding my army in that direction as of yet... yet still i couldnt resist getting my hands on Lord Typhus! (btw models damaged back = awesomeness]

took the pictures quickly with thw free time i managed to whip up so sorry if its considered low quality
i find it kinda funny my only piece that promotes decay will most likely be my only piece with grass on his base

Everything is looking really good I've just read through from the fist page and can definitely see your painting improving.

For the red on the berzerkers I'd recommend a Baal Red wash rather than black it gives it a lot more depth.

Looking forward to seeing what's next.

Baal red? Thanks for the advice. I like the dirty/soot look. Given my first exp with them was them surviving the explosion of a rhino I thought the look oddly appropriate but the Baal red wash sounds like something worth trying.

I'm also glad my painting is making some progress, I appreciate the acknowledgment And that you took the time to look at my blog

here are somethings i have been working on with the bit of free time iv managed to squeeze out from the day to day.

Berserks!~~

the basic zerkers, was going to use black but i like the look of limbs randomly painted bronze/gold.
next is my 'skull hunter' he focuses more on the skull throne aspect of being a zerker.

his trophies = 1 eldar head, 1 head and ribcage, 1 Imperial guard head, 1 Tyranid/creature skull and one random head atop

have some Space Wolf 'traitor' terminators up on the shelf i been meaning to get to and couldnt really swing a likeable color scheme so i stole my idea for thousand sons (since i dont have any atm) and used it on one.

not done, but im not sure what to do.. you see i want him to have a hint of chaos so my plan is to take a trohpy rack like a normal chaos terminator and put it on him. other than that i got nothing.. i want them to look untouched as if just arriving into the warband so i guess thats working for me but still i wish i could come up with some ideas. so people feel free to share ideas with me.

some more CSM of my warband.

finally got to painting one of the bases, the lines show alot more better than i thought they would.

TANK!~~~
my FIRST attempt at a rhino, putting together from scratch. my predator was a WIP i finished so this is my actual first attempt.
of course i screwed it up and it is by no means perfect but it is still my first! (have 2 more to go at that lol)

the back looks much worse in the photo geeez.. had some help with the tracks, before i noticed one was done 'wrong' i had done so much it just wasnt worth fixing or so i thought until i looked at the end product and realized how ...slanted one side had gotten.. do i know what i did wrong? not really.. will i do it again? i hope not! lol but im proud of my first Rhino tank
