My take on despicable TV/Movie villains:
1. The Chainsaw massacre guy
2. Uncle Scar from The Lion King
3. That bald-headed guy from the saw movies

Scar's not a bad guy. He arranges Mufasa's death, but that's what male lions do. They fight for control of the pride. Is the fact that he used smarts rather than strength the reason he's a bad guy?

And, sure, he tries to kill Simba. But, again, that's what male lions do. They kill all the cubs when they take over a pride. Is the fact that he failed to kill Simba the reason he's a bad guy?

How about the fact that he ended the racism against the hyenas that was institutionalized under Mufasa? Surely that's a good thing.

Do you blame him for the pride lands becoming a bit of a wasteland? There was a terrible drought. You can't blame him for that. Lions can't control the weather. The fact that the pride survived and was still rather plentiful speaks to his excellent rulership.

Scar isn't the villain in The Lion King. Mufasa is really the only one who does obviously evil acts in the film (the racism and forcing the animals to come worship the one that they will have to die to feed).

yes Scar did unite the pride with the hyenas and he did get rid of racism, at the cost of wipeing out or dirveing out all of the other animals. But his intentions were in his mind just and right, but in relialty they were twisted and they had fallen short on his plans of a glorious future. (sounds simlar Hitler) But the honest truth was seeing this part of the film :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViLDPBaIO-E
was quite sad.

I have to say, I actually kind of admired Jigsaw from the Saw films. I mean, some of the traps were absolutely diabolical and near-impossible to get out of (the iron maiden trap from the beginning of 2 was terrifying) but ultimately he just wanted to make people stop wasting their lives. Bear in mind that everyone he trapped throughout the series was by no means innocent, short of the few SWAT guys who (IIRC) died during 2, when they went after his lair.

Honestly, the real despicable villains of that movie were Amanda and Hoffman - Amanda, who just used the traps to kill people (rather than give them a chance to live) and Hoffman, who killed innocent police officers in order to keep his identity secret (including pinning all the murders on Strahm).

Glaber seems more like he just stumbles around with his schemes, where as Batiatus was pretty much the fething devil when it came to his. I mean, he killed off so many people, and caused so much hurt and suffering for what? So he could get better standings in the arena events? Wow.

Sure he stumbles about, but have you seen the current season? The gak he does... And Batiatus didn't just do it for better standings in the arena, that was just a stepping stone. The better standing at the events led to better standing with the senators and such. Better standing with them led to... ect ect. Glaber betrayed an entire people for his own pathetic desires (which failed), then rounded up the survivors and killed them, sold their families into slavery, had their wives raped by the entire legion and then... forgot about them. And that was just the first episode or 2. This season shows how despicable he really is. But I won't give away any spoilers

I looove Joffrey Baratheon. If i had just read the Books i would agree he is rather horrid but that kid's Powerhouse performance in the show has redeemed him for me. If you disagree well 'I'll gut you, you little c.....' Nevermind.....

I Suppose i should take the George R R Martin Fanboy/Literary Boffin podium and say that there are no Villians in the Game of Thrones series, that's kinda the point of the series. Hint: There's a reason Jaime and Cersei Lannister become Dramatis personae in books 3,4,5.

Best Villian:

Spoiler:
Plan B in Harry Brown. I am sorry but that is just /thread....

EVIL EVIL bastard...... Made all the better by one of the best Newcomer performance since Andrew 'Boy A' Garfield.

EDIT: I think nominating Nazis/Peedos is kinda pointless, there's simply no debating their Despicableness.

The best list so far Pacific. Though like i said before nominating Peedos (Or indeed 'Pederasts' ) is kinda pointless, no one can disagree that they are despicable. I assume that's Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast?

Edit: If that's Leon Gary Oldman then i claim first prize.
Edit2: Marathon Man is an Underwatched (Cant say underrated lol) Gem.

UHG!!!!!!!!!! I fething HATED that character in Rob Roy. Seriously, it shows how good an actor Tim Roth is, because his portrayal of Cunningham just made me want to kick his nuts up into his mouth, and then punch them back down his throat again
