You don't know that for certain.
The Preyton could very well be something just for Wood Elves, and the Elemental of Beasts is able to be fielded by any army which can take a Wizard with the Lore of Beasts( same with Fire and Death).

Not to be mean, but this is why I have been trying to avoid adopting a Chicken Little stance based upon just a line of words or a set of previews with no real details.
Right now? We don't know exactly what each thing will be--aside from the Khemric Titan and the already released models like the Chaos Dwarf/Warriors of Chaos stuff, the Skaven stuff, etc.
I don't think that Forge World is purposely going out of their way to ignore Wood Elves or Bretonnians--it might just be they're holding off because the army books are underway and they do not want to release something which won't "fit" with the theme of the army proper when it's released.

I see your point and am not that dissapointed by wood elves crappy underpowered codex because I learned to cheat and make my 18" wood terrain with two floors for my models to stand on and shoot lol.
Although I have been holding out on the trreeman in hopes that forgeworld will make one that doesn't look slowed.

Hmm - in a non-Chicken Little style, none of those names look particularly non-Chaos Dwarfy, if that makes sense.
Also, the absence of the Rogue Idol seems a touch odd.

Too bad the book is an unofficial expansion to an expansion in a currently declining game system (which makes me sad, WHFB on the downward slope rather than SoM).
Currently the book only really serves as a catalogue of what FW will most likely be putting out for Warhammer Forge in the future (not going to say near future due to there being much bigger things on the horizon). Interested to see the scenarios, but then again if I wanted a $50 scenario book I would have bought Blood in the Badlands. Warhammer Forge seems to be on a 'good release then average release' schedule at the moment.

Luckily for me, FW books aren't "unofficial" where I play due to still being a GW product.

You still have to agree with the opponent before the battle when using these monsters and rules. Chaos Dwarfs are official (or approved) and usable in WHFB regular games (who I happen to verse on a regular basis, damn magma cannons!). On top of that you need to play Storm of Magic, a fad which lasted a whole 2 months before being shelved unless you feel like adding an extra hour or two on top of a regular fantasy game, which also has to be played at 2000pts+ otherwise the person that goes first always wins.

Let me rephrase that since you obviously didn't understand what I said: Where I play "allows"(such a loaded word, that) Forge World without any of that "opponent agrees beforehand" malarkey that people think exist. We honestly don't care because there's no such thing as balance in the standard games anyway, what's more craziness but fun fluffy stuff to enhance our games?

As for not having anything for Wood Elves I beg to differ. Centaurs are Centagors most hated enemies since they are half beast like the Centagors but have the grace of an elf. And one of the place you can find Centaurs talked about is for the Wood Elves. The other in the Centagors entry talking about their hatred. Of course this was fluff from times gone by so it might have changed.

I'm sorry, but what data do you have that shows WFB is in decline? Sales figures? Game counts?
Just because your local seen sees less fantasy doesn't make it in decline. Fantasy is alive and well in my local community.
And I am much looking forward to this book and the models(might even pay for the book instead of "acquiring" a pdf).
Now what would be great would be if FW didn't charge VAT AND 15% shipping charges. Why should I have to pay UK taxes? Didn't we have a war over that exact thing?

That doesn't mean a male "Centaur", it means a "Bull Centaur". Bull Centaurs are specifically Chaos Dwarf-Bull centauroids while Centaurs are Human-/Elf-Horse centauroids.
That said, Cervitaurs (Human-/Elf-Deer centauroids) are better.

*shrug* My preference has more to do with aesthetics than geekdom. I just don't think a forty kilo front end on a five hundred kilo back end looks very good - a deer's smaller body makes the two halves more balanced.

Aerethan wrote:I'm sorry, but what data do you have that shows WFB is in decline? Sales figures? Game counts?
Let's understand the following: increased prices is forcing more people to buy less. Fantasy in it's current form is all about 'more is better' with steadfast being the rule the thumb for gameplay. Even if people play more often, less people are able to join, hence a decline.
In addition we have the imminent release of 40k 6thed, which will drag people out of their disenchantment with 5th (regardless of how long the hype takes to die down) if they have armies for both 40k and Fantasy, even if they do not, much like the release of 8th for fantasy, will entice people from other systems (much like the LotR re-release not too long ago). So we have less people entering fantasy, more people dusting off their 40k even if they currently play fantasy, and a system which is stagnating (O&G release particularly disappointing) after just 1-1/2 years in play. Combine that with the flop of Storm of Magic (died only a few months after release) and the lack of forseeable fantasy releases due to the future focus on 40k/The Hobbit and voilà. People still remember and love Cities of Death, can't say as many people will fondly remember Storm of Magic or for that matter: remember it at all.
The most consistent support for Fantasy has been Warhammer Forge, which is for a smaller part of the Fantasy group.
Summary:
Higher prices = less players
Release of 6thed = even less players
Less releases in favour of 40k/The Hobbit = even less players than before
Short-lived expansions of little or no consequences (Storm of Magic and limited Blood in the Badlands) = wow, didn't know we could get any less than that
I love the WFB system which is why I am so very disappointed, if not outraged at the current state of the system (through no fault of the players, but from mismanagement).
Apologies for the off-topic, back to the newsletter:
Hopefully this means we'll see Fireborn/K'Dai's in model form, the K'Dai is a fantastic monster and more monsters should be along the same lines of a 4+ ward (even if just vs. warmachines). Also in the book the artwork for it is awesome. In gameplay they are absolutely fantastic and can easily make up for their points in a game (barring horrendous rolling), GW should take a leaf from their book.
