I'd prefer that they just stopped doing April Fools jokes completely. They're rather lame.

Wow...what a waste of money.
Also, the US set of Horus Heresy e-Books is $135.83. Apparently if you live in Australia, you get to pay 237.83. Must not be enough tubes going to Australia.

Yes right Loki, although I think that is still somewhat more expensive than it had been previously from the UK (I tried to order from South Korea, my WFB ork army still only exists in my imagination as a result).
notprop wrote:To the OP, April Fools Day has never really been much of a corporate thing in the UK with the odd recent exception (FW). I mean who in this financial climate wants to be the joker with time on his hands to set something up?
Actually I think this is the first year out of the last few when there hasn't been an April Fool? Last year there was the 'How to roll dice' guide, 2010 was the 'eavy metal spray gun' that instantly painted a model to Eavy metal standard with a single coat. Pretty sure there have been others as well?
Anyway.. I think it's more likely that it was just because April 1st fell on a Sunday this year.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Their explanation when I asked them about that was that the international prices are set to correspond with the customer's local market. Which is a great marketing strategy... just ask Borders how well book stores are performing in Australia, thanks to people finally losing patience with the artificially inflated prices..

For Australians, it's a chhange from about 60-70% off from the UK to 50-60% off from the US. It's not really 'significantly more'.

Ah OK, I was referring to the price difference between ordering a delivery from the UK (from the likes of Wayland) and official mail order from GW Japan or Aus.

Or just that nobody had any clever ideas this year.
Or that they don't want to ride the inevitable flak from those who don't get the joke... There was more than a little bitching about the 'How to roll Citadel Dice' book from those who missed the date.
