I couldn't see it in plastic unless they made it a combination kit with some other new heavy weapon. I remember a rumor shortly after the codex release that someone saw a WIP plastic kit for a Thunderfire, but I can't recall who. I guess it's a possibility, and who knows if DA will get some special heavy weapon on a similar carriage.

I vaguely recall rumors to that effect as well... frankly it would make sense for the next SM book... or SM related book... or 6th ed. There are theoretically imminent possibilities for that to become reality.

yes, we know the US store still has it available, it's the UK and EU stores that don't.

Y'know...

I am 100% okay with Dark Angels getting a shiny new plastic Thunderfire/Angelfire kit.

All Moderation on this site is, for the most part, done in private.

You'll mostly never know how many situations were handled, as that is the policy of this site.

In the future, if you have a problem with anything on Dakka Dakka, including the Moderation, I suggest you take it up privately with the owners of the site at: webmaster@dakkadakka.com

That way, you won't risk dragging a thread off topic - something which is against the rules.

Thanks!

I hope to see the thunderfire in fine case. It is a beautiful model that can be a total pain to put together. I don't play SM so take my opinion with a grain of salt but from a painting/modeling perspective that is good news imho.

I really hope that we can see it in Plastic, rather than in Finecast. I am not impressed with Finecast.

DO you have that link.

Nope, search is playing up, and I can't find it.
It was in the last big Finecast announcement list from GW, if it was there at all.

Massive carrage mounted plasma cannon anyone? Pure wishing, but that would be nice. IF DA was done at the end of this month we could possibly see a new plastic kit. I can't see them waiting any longer than the end of the month, and I can't imagine that they got the sums totaly wrong when working out how long the stock would last. Hopefully there will be some sort of new kit on the way rather than a re-cast in finecast of the old model. Personaly I have found the stuff sculpted for fine cast much better in terms of quality than the stuff that is just a re-cast of the old metal. Fingers crossed! Hopefully DA will get something from this as it was the one model I have wanted that DA don't get and SM do.

On a tangent if this is correct it could open up a new big plasma wepon for things like the much hoped for plasma Vindi and land raider.

Also, as an Ork player I would LOVE to get my hands on a plastic kit... Thunder fire cannon + ork bike = Warbike boss win!

I always felt like the pricing was off for the thunderfire cannon as well, due to the fact that the model was small compared to a vehicle but contained a lot of metal, so had to priced high, and not as many people bought it. If they released a plastic kit with multiple options, they could probably price it more like £20-25 and get a lot more people buying it.

Releasing the TFC in Finecast can frankly only improve the situation.

It's one of my favorite models, lookswise, but you really must own a dremel tool to be able to assemble it in a single day. That probably shouldn't be.

My prediction for problem areas, in order of likelihood:

1.) The techmarines head\cog logo.
2.) The pins on the sides of the treads
3.) The mechadendrites trailing from the servo harness.
4.) The little V shaped things on the sides of the barrel.

Whether you like Finecast or not, the metal Thunderfire Cannon has a special place in hell and any change in material can only be an improvement.

I've been collecting Chaos Legions rumours for a bit and there is a rumour that they will get a Thunderfire Cannon thing.

Copy/Paste from my rumours thread:

"Thunderfire Cannon"
-Legions may have access to a Daemonic weapons platform comparable to the Thunderfire Cannon (Iron-fire Cannon mentioned in the Legions section?)

If this is true then perhaps they could be making a dual chaos/sm plastic thunderfire kit?
The only real difference between sm and chaos would be that one has more skulls and spikes on it than the other, perhaps different barrels as well similar to those you get with the chaos vehicle sprues that you put on lascannons etc.

I wasn't going to get one in metal. I'm sure as hell not going to get a badly cast pock-marked bubble-filled one in Finecost.

Give me plastic or give me nothing.

It's worth considering, but outside of the Rhino + Landraider kits, there's decidedly little crossover. It's possible though.

I've been putting off buying one for a year now waiting. Partly waiting for finecast, partly because I didn't want to pay -that- much for all that nightmarish metal. If it becomes finecast without increasing in price it's a win.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."
