it's a very helpful tutorial for building dakkas!

Thanks. Rivits are on the way, I always do them last. I actually sat down yesterday and made a couple hundred to add to my supply for this project. I have seen both of his tutorials, very nice work. Thought about using some of his techniques if I get around to building a battle wagon.

J-Roc77 wrote:WOW, you are a wiz with the plasticard. That is shaping up nicely and makes me question why you doing only a short list? Looks like you could construct a pretty good looking mech army! Can't wait to see it all together and painted.

Thanks. I say a short list because I don't want to burn myself out. Lots of things I want to build, but I also have some things I haven't finished yet. Just setting a goal for myself so I don't get bored mid project and leave something half finished.

You must keep the googly eyes.

Must.

You are now required by dakkalaw. Or something like that.

Someone gave me the idea of a pair of glasses with the googly eyes attached that I could take on and off. Thought it would be funny if he was in cc and missed all rolls to hit, put on the glasses so he could see better next round.

I was able to get some work done last night. Got the lower arms started, right now I am just getting the main part of both arms built so I can get the pose of the model finished, then I will build the ccw and skorcha for them. After that I need to build the engine/power supply on the back. Then it will just be details after that like glyphs and rivits.

Thanks moxsis. I finished up the buzz saw the other day only to find out I did not like the way it looked, so I had to start all over. Redesigned the whole thing and rebuilt it. Here is the new finished buzz saw.

I still have a lot of work to do, so there will be plenty more updates to com. I did start working on the engine, I had some trouble at first coming up with an idea on how to build it. I started looking through my junk box when I found a model car engine from a model I built many years ago. I took it apart and am starting to build a version of it in styrene. Hope to get the main structure finished this weekend and get some pics up.

what material did you use for the skorcha? (pink stuff)

great work!

OT: Do people make a fuss about using models like this in tournament play? since it didn't begin it's life as a citadel model?

Thanks. The skorcha was made of white styrene, I think the lamp I had on gave it a red tint. I am almost sure this could not be used in a tournament because I used no GW models or bitz. But I don't play tournaments or in GW stores so most people are cool with it, if not I always have a few army lists on me so I can change it if need be.

Did not get as much work done this weekend as I wanted due to having company form out of town, but I did get some done today. Here is the main structure of the engine, still have some work to do on it but it is almost ready for details. I am so lucky I found that old car model, I would not even know where to begin if I could not have broken down the model in my hands and seen the basic shapes needed to make it. But now I know, and knowing is half the battle, G.I. JOE! This will come in handy if I want to make trucks, buggys or battlewagons.

I can see it being able to be fielded in a tournaments, since GW pulled all there support from tournaments. Its still up to the TO though..

Looking good jersey..

Got delayed on finishing this up, so with exception of the rivits it is complete. Made a quick video to show it off and will be doing the rivits over the next couple of days.
