Thanks Squallum, I dont play 40k at the moment I just like the collecting/modelling part of the hobby. I may start playing when the new starter box comes out. Maybe.... Anyway, a little update. Some Assault Termis I must have bought these guys after Nightshift as I really do not remember picking them up lol. The scouts are paint in progress at the moment but I built these guys and thought Id update here. Made a start on the Dread base. Light and Dark side pose

Looking great! love the skull faces on those scouts.
If you have time, run a bit of chaos black along the edges of your bases, it'll clean em right up.

This was a piece I knocked together just to irritate a friend of mine over on the B+C. He has an awesome Marines Malevolent and Astral Claws threads over there and seeing as they are bitter enemies of the Star Phantoms I had to have some fun.
I present Sgt Toepoke and the Field Goal Punt. I plan to have a pile of damaged helmets behind the Beakie in both Astral Claws and Marines Malevolent colours

Thanks for the sub buddy.
No pics on this update Im afraid but I need some advice from those who know more about the Loyalists organisation etc.
Can a 5 man Sternguard Unit be given Terminator honours? I ask as Ive built a small squad of potential Stern and kinda want to use the crux pads but Im not sure if an entire squad can use them? In my head Im justifying it that they dont always have to wear their TDA so run around in PA when the mission dictates.
Also for those painters among you. What colour would you suggest for an Apothecary in a White Armoured army? Id thought about black and coming up with a little fluff as to why but then they would look too much like Chaplains. Unless I change the colour of the Chaplain? I knwo I read somewhere about The Mortifactors (I think) having Red chaplains. Im hoping to get some work done this coming weekend as Im on leave for a few days.

How about a pale olive green for the Apothecary?
As for the Sternguard, I would have said the squad could all recieve the Crux Terminatus. I can't think of any particular reason why they couldn't.

Pale green, you may be onto something there. I have images from M.A.S.H in my head for some reason now
Thanks for the input on the Crux, I havent played 40k since the early 90's so I wasnt sure. Im hoping to get a few games in soon and want the unit to fit both in terms of fluff and rules.
Are there any other noteworthy items/markings to symbolise Sternguard?

Ok so Ive decided to restart this project but pretty much all the stuff youve seen before will be repurposed and Im going to start fresh so to speak. On that note I went to my FLGS today and impulsivley bought this. Ive already sold the land Speeder Storm on as Im not planning on using too many scouts.

It is yeah, I got a bit of a discount on it so its all good, I prefer the Ven Dread to the Ironclad for conversions but I would have liked the Razorback over the LS Storm. No matter.
Ive ordered the Dark Angels codex so these guys will be built with that in mind ie counts as Azrael, Belial etc. it gives me the chance to model some cool HQ but using pre exisiting wargear options
One thing though, there will be NO robes in this force. None!

Ok so no work on the actual Phantoms except from some planning and ordering of bits. Im wanting to finish off what I have outstanding in my World Eaters then I can throw myself into this project completly. I now have the DA codex and I think I can make it work with the fluff of the Phantoms as well. I recently won an auction for pretty much a complete 3rd edition boxset minus rulebook, all the minis still on the sprue including the land speeder and the ruins.
I took a break from Khorne tonight and decided to see what I could do with the ruins in the box and came up with these.
When I was building this one I envisioned a lone IG sniper or guardsman who had been holed up in here on stag for a while and started to collect a couple of trophies during downtime.
The next was pretty much a straight forward build but I wanted to add a couple of little details another scroll like the OP and a plate on the outside to possibly if my freehand is up to it add a house number

Some outstanding terrain there, buddy! I love the attention to detail, and as I said, I was always fond of those ruins!
Don't talk about finishing all your World Eaters and then moving on, though. That really makes me feel all teary-eyed!

Thanks for the support guys. I had a look through what I had for this force and so far I have
1 Commander box still on sprue
3 x 10 man Tactical Squads (most still on sprue)
Command Squad (still on sprue)
6 DV Bikes that will be converted into my Wraithwing
5 man Devastator Squad (built)
5 man Termi Assault Squad (built)
5 man converted Stern Guard squad. (In progress)
Land Speeder (still on sprue)
2 x Land Raiders (1 Crusader and 1 Redeemer still WIP)
Drop Pod
Venerable Dreadnought
I also have a rather rough 5 man AoBR Termi set that could be cleaned up and painted as Phantoms plus loads of bit that I could possibly make another Dev squad with.
So, just a few things to be getting on with.

Right guys, I worked a little on the Macharian Vets (Sternguard) tonight, these were quickly thrown together. I still have to remove all the Chapter specific iconography etc but let me know what you think.
The whole lot
The Daydreaming one
The one armed man
The over excited pointy one
The Sergeanty one.
The 'CHAAAARGE' one
So thats it for now folks, I do have enough parts to probably build another 5 Beaky marines to run as Sternguard os may expand this squad in the future, they wont have the RW heads but they will still be mixes of similar armour.

Nice job so far, buddy! The use of the Ravenwing helmets and a couple of other bitz makes these look quite a bit more baroque and interesting than your standard, run-off-the-mill Marines. I especially like the charging one: That old, early 90s chaos boltgun is a great way of channeling the mortuary cult vibe you are gunning for. One thing, though, due to the added scope, the bolter somehow looks a bit too heavy to be comfortably held at that position with only one hand, in my opinion, so you might be better of ditching the scope.
Looking forward to seeing more, even though these aren't World Eaters
