Why couldn't it be Leman Russ? I dont believe any part of the fluff makes it IMPOSSIBLE for the Space Wolves Primarch to be the one Trazyn got his shiny necrodermic hands on

I doubt its coencidence.

I've heard this but never been able to find the source, it's supposed to be a great warrior giant or something. Do you know where this is from?

"However it has recently been revealed that Dorn and his veteran Space Marines stormed the Chaos ship and were cut down to a man. Later, the Imperial Fists would pick up an escape pod from one of their own ships, which contained the effects of the Primarch when he went onboard the ship and a single skeletal fist of the Primarch. Where the true Rogal Dorn or his body is and what his fate may have been, no one yet knows. "

From:

http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Rogal_Dorn

I have no idea why he would have Dorn....maybe at some point his body was used as a bargaining gift of sorts by Abaddon?

I wouldn't use the Warhammer wikia as gospel, it's pretty bad for having fan interpretation for events.

The IA on the fists says

They boarded the Sword of Sacrilege before it could flee and recovered what remained of Rogal Dorn. His engraved skeletal hand continues to be maintained in stasis, their holiest icon, and serves as a constant reminder of the commitment expected of a Space Marine.

It's a bit vague, Ian Watson's Space Marine says that his body was recovered and is held in Amber and the hands separated from his body. I don't have this book so I am going by what the interwebs have to say (I know, I know ).

I doubt it's Russ as he is nakie at the moment

The second Great Hunt led to the recovery of the Russ's armour from the Temple of Horus on Rudra on the edge of the Eye of Terror.

If anything it's the Emperor that Trazyn has as

IA: Space Wolves
Time seemed to stop as the Emperor of Mankind threw away his cloak, the hood falling from his face, his true form revealed. Standing far taller than any man present. swathed in light and clad in baroque golden armour.

Russ wandered into the Eye...
I'm not sure what the Necron effectiveness against Chaos is anymore but IIRC they aren't particularly good at fighting Chaos and Warp type thingies...

Didn't Russ die? According to the Space Wolf codex, on of the side boxes details his last words, even promising that he'll come back despite being dead. Trazyn might be able to help him on that and so he'd probably save Russ just to giggle about it.

okay, i hadn't know about that business with The Second Great Hunt recovering Russ's armor, speculation withdrawn. So what does that leave, Vulkan, and Corax right?

So 'even as I lay dying now/even as I give my last breath' (can't remember exact line, but it was one of those two) doesn't mean anything to you?

It was meant to be a big honorable speech, and he was reinforcing the point that he would return one day. Leman walked out of the feasting Hall on Fenris under his own power

... He was still saying he was dying when he was telling this.

Besides, it isn't like Russ or his sons to give big honourable speeches, usually something along the lines of...

'My sons, we have chased the traitors to the Eye itself. Each one of you would follow them further, but we all know that the future will need the might only the Wolves can bring. I leave Bjorn here to act in my stead, so that my company might do what the Legion can not.'

Etc. That last bit is just my take though...

All Heresy-era power armor is baroque, especially compared to the smooth shells of 40K.

Most of Trazyn's living captives have been turned into "hard-light holograms" which, according to other fluff in his Codex entries, can be destroyed by a clumsy or malfunctioning Cryptek or Wraith. I would hazard to guess, then, that they're not just in stasis, they've been completely turned into light-crystal, and cannot be turned back.

Trazyn is also not really interested in historical accuracy as he is in capturing the "feel" of the scene. It is noted that his triptych hologram of "The Death of Lord Solar Macharius" contains hundreds of Imperial Guardsmen from regiments who were not present and are wearing uniforms from centuries after Macharius' death.

Or its possable they are simply projections of the real thing which is kept in Stasis. Would keep his collection safe

The Codex specifically says "transformed" and "destroyed by malfunctioning Crypteks and Wraiths" as a primary motivator for Trazyn to go attack some place in order to procure replacements.

Yes. This. This would be awesome, and would completely justify the "death to the false emperor" mantra of the CSM.

Actually reading that quote again, for further clarification that Trazyn has the Emperor it says.

Standing far taller than any man present

So he's a giant of a man in Baroque armour!

If were talking HH era stuff or earlier, what about the Thunder Warriors of Terra, they seem to fit the bill, could easily be mistaken from a primarch considering they are bigger and tougher then the marines that came after. The only trouble of course is their limited life span... but that doesn't matter with stasis.

Wolfmark Wraithwolves.

They go wolfy, then they go invisible, and intangible, and then they jump out of some nearby wolves to wolf your fething wolf off.
