Let's be honest, a starting gun that is all you will ever need in the entire game.

I don't understand how from Halo 1 to Halo 2 to Halo 3 they never managed to make Flood levels terribly fun. Cortana is worse than The Library; bad enough that I still remember it like five years later. I loved Reach though. I'm kind of interested in the story, but I can't think of how they'll write it so it's anything but Master Chief basically being DOOMguy on planet Flood. The Spartan Ops stuff looks interesting, the multiplayer looks the same as ever.

Some of them aren't too bad but there's something about the levels that (For me) are so mentally fatiguing, you end up losing your rhythm trying to fight the flood for so long...
So I guess it's fairly realistic then... almost...

They just either drag on and on through samey environments or are exercises in frustration like Cortana. I see the desire to change the gameplay up and I think their introduction in Halo 1 was really well handled (even if it was blatantly ripped off from Aliens like so much in that game) but I just never enjoy them as an enemy.

Robo-Cop and the Colonial Marines vs Predator and Zombies: Combat Evolved, I think could have done a little better down the road with some more hardy level design. The multiplayer maps were some of the best in the genre, but from H2 onwards the quality of the singleplayer campaigns slipped a little. Except for Reach, which I think had the best campaign of the series myself.

Lol no, IMO Halo Reach was the worst campaign, not from a design perspective so much, but for the story. It completely retconned The Fall of Reach, to supplant it with a MUCH shittier story.

And I still think Halo 1 and ODST are the best Campaigns.

How much different was it? I remember reading Fall of Reach when it came out and loving it, but I don't recall any glaring differences.

A buttload of differences. Though I'm fuzzy on the details been ages since I read it and ages since I played reach too..

Gathering the Informations.

The biggest difference in "Halo: Reach" and "The Fall of Reach" comes from the simple fact that "Fall of Reach" was more in-line with humanity's first contact with the Covenant.

Surely my rants about how Reach destroyed the canon have not been so lightly forgotten EDIT: Then again I wouldn't be surprised. I do A LOT of ranting

Yeah, but the problem with that is. It destroyed the fun for me. Hell, I still refuse to see halo:reach as canon.

I don't really have any memorable moments from the Halo reach campaign. It felt more like going through the motions. I never connected with any of the characters either.

Apart from George and maybe Emile (Because they were both pretty awesome)
The others were kinda annoying to me...

I think 'Cortana' is much worse than the library simply because its pretty darn Hard. Not like good hard but frustrating 'Im getting shot from all angles all the time' hard. Also IIRC it was always unclear whether you were supposed to kill everything or if they respawned infiniteIy. Dont really recall it all that well as 3 is my least played campaign. I do remember turning it down to Normal for cortana though, even then it wasn't easy by any stretch.

I think it's worth stating here that i am a 1 in a million example. I am alot better at Halo multiplayer than Singleplayer, i would go as far as saying i'm pretty sucky at singleplayer halo. But I had a 1.4 in Reach Multiplayer (could have been higher but i never use vehicles or power weapons).

I only liked George, and to be honest, none of them had enough moments to really connect with them.

I didn't really care about the squad in Reach either, but I enjoyed the hell out of the campaign. Every character had one defining trait that usually got one moment to show it, and that was it. I don't really care about the canon of the Halo universe, and I'll take the canon as written by the actual game developers over the canon established by a tie-in novel from a decade before any day of the week. Retcons happen!

Can't wait, especially since they revealed who the main antagonist was.

Okay, I should clarify a bit.

I don't actually know it's the main antagonist, not for certain. I do know that he's going to be a major character though, and it seems implied that he is the main antagonist.

That symbol at the end of the E3 gameplay video, the one that glows and turns round, is the symbol of the Didact, who is a pretty important figure in the background material.

I loved the announcer before, now he sounds even better, allot more "enthusiasm" in what he says from what I can tell. In reach I loved the way he said "revenge" and especially "zombie killing spree". In one of the new bits of gameplay the way he says "assassination" is fantastic.

Well, yeah, I was aware of that.

But the Didact being an ancient evil doesn't make much sense. The didact was never evil. They could still do it offcourse. But it would be... weird. Not to mention the fact that the Didact is insanely powerful.

More interesting though, this would mean there are still forerunners alive.

Could the Didact have been corrupted over time? Or perhaps he's an 'ancient evil' from a human point of view, since he was the one to defeat the pre-historic human civilization?

Also, what's with those AI? They're unlike anything Forerunner we've seen yet.

The Didact likely has a grudge against humans, for losing his children to them, for spiting the Forerunners by destroying their flood cure and not warning them about the threar.

And he's noted to be wrathful and dangerous to confront.

More likely though, the 'ancient evil' is either a corrupted Didact or the Precursors.

Anyone else feel like the UNSC Infinity is about the lamest ship name we've seen in the franchise? I mean, Pillar of Autumn, In Amber Clad, Forward Unto Dawn, and we get... Infinity. I would have called it the UNSC Plot Device #4 and been done with it.
