On topic, I like that they included a winter argus instead of a pair of stuff I've never taken in pairs, but don't agree with the choice of the two fast armies. I think that one of those, and either skorne or trollbloods, would have made a much better starter set.

It balances out with the two slow armies in the WM set.

It looks like a great starter to me, a good bit of diversity crammed in there.

I will have to be strong of will and firm of mind to resist this!

There seems to be lots of interest in this from people who already play Hordes (just like the Warmachine one).

That's a good sign in a starter set IMO.

The sink.

I'm torn. I want to like Hordes, but I honestly think Focus is better than Fury. That and I like to play infantry-machine, which WM supports better than Hordes.

But ... I'm interested in Legion and sort of interested in Circle. I could get someone to split this with me and ...

I am going to tell you that you are double confused because it has nothing to do with currency labels, and nothing of the sort was indicated. A box of regular plastic Terminators costs $50,-. Metal GK Terminators were NOT the same price as a box of regular plastic Terminators. If you bought from GW directly they cost about $65,- at least. Like I said the POWER ARMOURED metal GK were about that price, so yes you are confused.

But ANYWAY, back on topic indeed, is there any chance they will release a second version of the 2 player starter featuring Trolls vs Skorne?

(probably not, but would be nice)

Can I also assume that the small rulebook included in this set is different from the one in the single player stater boxes?

What derek is saying is that in the US, metal Grey Knight Terminators were $50 USD while the plastic GKTs are ALSO $50 USD. The price never changed for the US, just the amount of bits and material.

Only a single 2 player starter set is planned for each game. Menoth vs Khador for WM and now Legion vs Circle for Hordes.

The single player starter boxes don't bring a mini rulebook, they only bring a starter rules leaflet.

Oh sweet! I was looking into Oberos anyway.

The one thing I don't like is the new Warpwolf. Of all the PP plastics, the Feral and Pureblood lost a lot of character with the new kit. Everblight looks great in plastic though.

Well, they already used the same body with different bits, so it wasn't like moving to plastic was much different.

What I meant was, that the model looks a lot like the metal version, unlike the Trolls and Warpwolves.

Fury is MUCH stronger than Focus. MUCH MUCH Stronger. The sole exception is camping Warcasters. But I'll give you the better infantry in Warmachine. Well see how well that holds up with all the infantry hate in Colossals and likely mirrored in Gargantuans.

I agree, with your assessment of fury. I remember the first time I played with Hordes models, I was like "I can spend what now?" As to the infantry hate, is that from the Colossals/Gargantuans themselves? I'm taking a more wait and see approach. They are after all, expensive models with a retail of $135, and I don't expect them to be all that common a sight across from me at the 35 pt level, and I'd expect to only see them every 3 games or so at 50 pts. They're beautiful models to be sure, and do some very cool things (I can't wait for Hyperion for my Ret in the fall), but they're not auto-includes with every Caster/Lock from every faction by any means.

All the colossals are pretty infantry hating with lots of AOEs and all having the 2" Sweep and such. In addition though Nemo is super anti infantry. Super. Vlad is pretty good at hacking thru hordes of dudes as well with Flashing Blade and his Feat.

Yeah, I haven't really got to peek at the book yet, so that's why I was wondering if it was just from the Colossals abilities or if the casters played a role as well.

Damn it, I just bought the plastic box of Circle not that long ago...oh well no such things as too many mini's.

But have been wondering when they are going to do a Hordes version.....now will be interesting if they do a Horde vs Warmachine version.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I where you, especially with PP's policy on becoming a Pressganger:

Great box, I'm very much looking forward to this one. But I gotta give it to GW. If this was their announcement this thing would be released tomorrow

Wait, you Like that GW doesnt tell you what they're releasing until the last minute? I prefer knowing what exactly PP has coming down the pipe for the next several months in advance.

No, I don't like that. It was simply another way of saying "I can't wait for this to release."
