Nice show, but coolest star ship EVAH?

Not even close.

The Defiant which is armed to the teeth, can turn matter into energy, travel through time and turn invisible is the only one I'd rank even close to the SDF-1.

Oh I should of specified, I didnt mean it will win, I was more agreeing with beating the ship it was with in that bracket

That would be my second favorite.

I like pretty much all the Babylon five ships over Star Trek/Wars, Firefly ....etc.

Oh come on the Imperial Destroyer is just its own level of cool (same for TIE Fighters).

But yes B5 ships are generally much more organic. I like the Narn ships as well, although the Drazi ships and the flying saucer thing were meh to me.

I never understood the appeal of the enterprise. It's a saucer with engines only connected by spindly neck and wings. It's looks like it could easily fall apart.

I voted for Moya over the Romulan ship.

So, a co-worker and I were discussing the poor pairings of this list. Our main debate was whether or not the Tardis should be on this list. I don't think so, as it's a phone booth that travels through time. He contends that it travels through time AND space, thus qualifying it as a space vessel just like the rest.
I think it's just a glorified "magical" phone booth. Albeit one with an olympic swimming pool inside.

When I see or think of that thing, I don't see' "spaceship."

To be fair it really doesn't look like a phone booth, its just what the doctor chooses it to look like.

I know at one point its chameleon circuit was broken leaving stuck as a PB, but I remember some of the old ones where it could change shape and appearance.

Does it belong on the list ......no.

But if you take into account the number of deaths caused by the tardis and the Doctor ( who i believe is the grim reaper ) it should be on the list, shet it might have killed more then them all combined.

That poll kinda blows, it has no criteria and method to it.

It's like saying who was the best human being ever, Michael Jordan or Einstein ......fight.

Oh, on topic- I've always been partial to the SDF-1 myself. The SDF-1 could totally own every other ship on the list with its Reflex Cannon.

Does it turn into a robot with aircraft carriers for arms?

Does it launch F-14 Tomcats that also turn into robots?

Does is have a gun that destroys EVERYTHING in its path?

Sure the ISD is cool, sure it's iconic, but at the end of the day it was a bad guy ship, it couldn't even catch one smugging vessel.

SDF-1 clearly trumps it.

Tie fighters turn F14s into bantha fodder.

Star Destroyers have shields. The SDf only had those tiny little shields they had to play Missile Command with. They can't react to turbolasers.

Star Destroyer crews have better uniforms.
Star Destroyers have much better theme music. Now we were talking Zentraedi theme music then yea you'd have a fight but, the UN Spacy theme -hahahahah

Later in the series, the SDF-1 had a full force field to go with its far superior firepower.

You have a point with uniforms, but the guys wearing the giant dome helmets hurt the Imperials' effort there, while the bridge crew in short skirts help the PDF's cause. Are there even women on Imperial ships?

Star Destroyers are just so ponderous and boring. Even Spaceball One beats Star Destroyers. Megamaid FTW!

hey I like those dome helmets! Plus stormtroopers.
Ok I'll give with da wimminz on SDF. On the down side, and what a horrible downside it was, it had Lin MinMei on it too. Oh the humanity!
And whats with the hair?
Plus the SDF couldn't even leave the solar system.

Star destroyers have some of the coolest command decks in sci fi. You have to go to Adama Galactica to get that level of epic cool.
SDF1 doesn't even have proper chairs. Whats the deal people?
On the positive very few sci fi ships have carriers for arms and "Mega Karate Punch!" enemy ships - opening up and blasting them from inside. Thats hard core.

Considering that both those series got on the ballots twice, it already kinda is. If they wanted variety, they should have replaced the X-wing with a Starfury(or other B5 ship/fighter) and the Romulan Warbird with something from a different series(or even a novel).

As it is, they already know people are going to be voting by fandom and franchises that they know, which is why they didn't start out with any Star Wars vs Star Trek brackets.

A novel would be difficult, but yea, lots of series, lots of ships. You could have had one with just snub fighters
*Starfury (B5)
*Starfighter (the last starfighter)
*X wing (or TIE fighter)
*Viper (BSG)
*Cyclon raider (either series)
*Buck Rogers fighter
*Veritech Fighter
*DS9 armed runabout
*Lost in space Saucer
*War of the Worlds attack ship (1950s version)
*Day the Earth stood still saucer
*STOS shuttle
