I might make some changes here and there depending on how the allies system works out, I would love to throw in some close combat built IG in to my khorne csm army.

However I have already retired my older armies and have started working on my csm project in anticipation for 6th

Not changing my army. I've been playing Guard since the 4th edition codex came out (I actually started the game a month or two after the codex released) and I'm not going to stop now.

A good player should be able to adapt to new rules.
Plus, this game costs way too much anyway, it'd be stupid to change armies just because of some new or different rules.
And I love my Necrons, no way I'm changing.

445 points. For now.

I have 5 armies -

Orks - Might dust them off as long as I don't need new models.
Chaos - Will NOT play them until the legions can be done properly again.
SW - no matter what happens T4 and 3+ save armies will still work on the table top.
Tau - wont play them again until a new codex comes out - doesn't matter if rapid fire is made better, FW still can't do the job they are required to do.
DE - This army is still being constructed so it can be changes as needed.

So over all - I'm good no matter what happens.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

For a bunch of people speculating on rumors of rules, you should know them a little bit better.

The allies chart is supposed to be for team games. You're not going to be able to take Blood Angels and Eldar in the same army. That's just silly.

I have a 3000 nid army that I may take down from my attic if the new psychic powers actually make them decent, which I really wants since Nids are my favorite army

My BAs will continues to remain my main army...

I have 30 Paladins waiting to be built for my GK army. Though depending on how wound allocation works, they may end up becoming regular termies...

I'm not shifting

I've been playing Orks since RT. I'm not about to jump ship now I have way way way too much invested in them

My DE are too cool to drop, even if they get batted around with a neft-bat in favour of the big-shoulderpad crowd

I think most of the folk who jump ship on their armies with the new edition (that didn't already plan to before the news hit, anyway) will be the WAAC-Holes, who will only sticjk to an army for as long as it's the top dog. If GK (the current top dog) found itself mid-tier with 6th (unlikely) the Swapshop would be stuffed with posts immediately afterwards

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

I have 6 armies as it stands

Tyranids
Jumper blood angels
Foot loganwing wolves
Coteaz grey knights
Draigowing grey knights
Mech eldar

I am sure that one of those armies will be very good in 6th edition, and I will switch to it primarily. I honestly hope though that it is the jumpers. Because they are very well painted, they are quick to play, giving me more time to think what I am doing, I really love the flesh tearers fluff, and they are easy to transport.

No, I honestly think I will stick with my current armies. I don't have a main army, I use them all fairly regularly. It allows me to master different tactics and gives me a strong knowledge of my opponents armies. Knowledge is power. 6th edition won't change that.

Imperial Fists - 10,000pts Daemons - 8000pts Hive Fleet Moloch - 10,000pts
Black Templars - 4000pts Goff Orks - 8000pts Death Guard - 3500pts
Dark Angels - 4000pts World Eaters - 3000pts Alaitoc Craftworld - 8000pts
Space Wolves - 4000pts Black Legion - 9000pts Heretics & mutants - 2000pts
Grey Knights - 4000pts Dark Eldar - 5000pts Cadian Imperial Guard - 5000pts
Tau - 4000pts Catachan Imperial Guard - 1000pts Necrons - 7000pts
Blood Angels - 4000pts Biel-tan Craftworld - 2000pts Eldar Corsairs - 1000pts

No.

It takes YEARS to fully build an army, as well as dozens of games (hundreds, maybe) to have a full and complete army that you have a full and complete understanding of. Were I to start a new army at the beginning of 6th, it would take me until the beginning of 7th before I finally got all the way good at it.

People who take a shallow view of a scientifically provable "the" list in "the" army for the current rules edition aren't actually seeing things correctly. There are too many uncontrollable variables to look at 40k completely empirically. This kind of behavior is lemming talk. Such people are those who get beaten and can't figure out why.

Well again, I don't know because 6th ed isn't out yet.

However, seeing as I just took a punt by picking a new army before 6th ed just for the ride of taking it through a new edition of the game I doubt it.

Something that I think should be pointed out is that it takes about a year for a serious meta to develop. With 5th it was the ig mech lists that really set the scope for what was good. If you look at the lists people ran at the start of 5th, 4th edition holdovers, vulkan, and nob bikers, they quit doing good after about a year. So its probably better to wait a while anyways before making a new purchase, as opposed to grabbing whats hot right when the book drops.

I didn't start playing Necrons to win. When I started playing 'crons while they still using the 3rd edition codex. I went into the hobby knowing that I'd probably lose most of my battles, I started them because I likes their models and their fluff. Then the new 'dex came out. It had much more promise of winning, but terrible fluff, and a lot of bad looking models. So what do I do? I modify the new models so they fit what I already have, and so I like them, I create my own fluff in the premise set by the codex so that I find that acceptable to. then I keep on playing Necrons how I like them.

Long story short I like 'crons and I'll adapt to any thing I don't like to keep playing them how I like them.

Necrons have been my main army since they where just an article in WD271/218. I didn't change armies when 3rd, 4th or 5th edition came out and will not switch when 6th hits in 1 week. Right now, with GW's price increases, it's too fething expensive for me to start a new army from scratch, though I might make an allied detachment depending on what allies my Necrons are allowed to take.

Yes, but I tend to do a new army when the edition changes anyway. Not because of a change in the rules that nerf/buff anything.
Not sure which direction to take though.
My last couple of army projects have been DE and Orks, so it might be time to do a new SM army.
I've been thinking about a Mentor Legion force...

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Sadly, nothing new until I have at least 2k of tau under my belt, and they must be painted. I'll be moving on to my menoth army after that since my war machine mates want more than proxies and a war-caster to play against.

No intention to (but I never had any intention of re-starting for 6ed after being away from the hobby since 3ed, so who knows what'll happen)

Looking forward to fielding an army I haven't used since 3.5 Codex (CSM) and using an army I've wanted to use since I first saw them back in the day ('Crons). Will 6ed be the rules to pull me into the game and keep me there, rather than dipping and dabbling around? I doubt it, but we'll see. Something revolutionary could come out of it!

Nope.

No matter how low on the totem pole they are, Nids will always be my primary army.

I'll build up an SM force on the side though. Just don't tell The Swarmlord.

I've been rapidly growing my Necron Army before they start to get expensive when the 6th edition rule set inevitably skyrockets their position on the totem pole. I've also been growing my Ork army up a bit. But the Tyranids will always be the army I started out with. I'm also getting various Chaos Space marine and chaos Daemons stuff.

Yes I like the bad guy factions, what of it?

I cannot imagine changing my Army becuase of a new rule edition. I have been playing since orignal Rogue Trader days and other than buying new models for the various armies over time I have never decided to change armies because of a new edition.

Now I have added armies because of new codices coming out but not due to rule changes.
