Subject: New Forgeworld - the Land Raider Spartan has arrived!
It looks to be about 20% bigger than a land raider from that one picture, but it's hard to tell with that angle. I like it. Waiting for the rules to come out to see if this is for standard games or the first "Space Marine" superheavy tank for Apoc games.

How about some FW love for the 'Crons? All we ever got before was some stupid fixed artillery piece that no-one I lknow bought. At least we can dream that, with the new 'dex out, we may get a little apoc lovin' with something like a bomber, or a super-heavy variant.

It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Or yknow, the Tomb Stalker and being the centerpiece of a forthcoming book?

Perhaps I'm assuming too much thinking it has an assault ramp. Before anybody says anything yes I realize its called Imperial Armor for a reason, but I think that other armies coudl use a little love too besides Imperial Guard and Space Marines. Perhaps a little more Tau or Sisters of Battle would be nice. At this point I think FW alone has produced more super heavy choices for IG than the Sisters have units in their current codex. (perhaps a slight exaggeration).
There is also talk of a "Pre-Heresy/Heresy" book coming from FW. So a big Marine vs. Marine book. Makes sense that they would crank up some more Marine models for that.

It has a transport cap large enough for a FULL squad of Hammernators, Lysander and a TDA/SS Libby and a Techmarine. And I assume its heavy support so the Hammernators can take it as a DT.

I agree it makes total sense. I just am doing some wishing I guess. Some armies will never receive any love it seems. For the above Necron poster, I totally forgot that Necrons have received little to date. I remember how awesome the Necron Stalker looked too. I've seen one in person and they really do look cool. Sometimes you just want a model or three becuase they are cool.

It'll probably be released as a PDF then included in the upcoming Chaos book, or if a marine one (Horus Heresy era as promised...) somehow comes out before that (ie fighting the alien species that the book focuses on) that one.
Oddly enough it looks to be a very similar size to what you'd get if you stuck two of the original Landraiders together. ....I know this because I managed to pick up such a beast at a recent show and have been making it into an Armoured Proteus, but now I'm getting mild thoughts on making it into a Spartan (and well....it is bloody huge compared to an existing Landraider too). =D

Looks like a perfect "centerpiece" unit, though the costs are IMO quite prohibitive. Overall, another awesome FW model that I'll probably never see in real life because of its expense and lack of official rules.

'Now that is a monster of a vehicle and no mistake! Today Forge World announced that their latest kit - the Spartan Assault Tank - is now available to advance order from their website. For many of you this is just another great kit from Forge World that you will want to add to your collection. For some of you grizzled veterans out there though, the Spartan is a happy memory of 'ye olden days' when cutting a Rhino in half and welding it to the front of a Land Raider was the only way to build such a gargantuan beast.
Redesigned and reinvented by master model-maker Phil Stutcinskas, the Spartan Assault Tank is even bigger and more heavily armed than the regular Land Raider. It has quad lascannon sponsons (yes, that's four lascannons) on each side of the hull and space to transport 25 of your most deadly troops into battle. It is, essentially, the closest thing that you can get to a super-heavy tank without it being super-heavy. We look forward to grinding the foes of the Emperor '

Does anybody use a PayPal debit card to order from ForgeWorld? They don't like my regular credit card for some reason, but I am waiting on some money from selling some MtG cards and I wouldn't mind using that to pay for this.

zzz.... yay...yet another re-hashed land raider that GW IP extirpated almost twenty years ago as unnecessary.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights! The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

They accept Visa easy enough if that's your issue? It should be the case that they'll accept most payment methods, if they don't contact their customer services. ^^'

There are a number of people in the US that have an issue with ForgeWorld and paying with their credit/debit cards. Not sure if it is something on their end or on our end. They have never liked my bank card, so if I order something I usually have to transfer money to a different card and then use that.
PayPal is pretty common, so I was hoping to see if anybody else has had success with using that card.

I've ordered several times from them, using Visa and MasterCard. I've never tried PayPal, so I can't answer that. You could do a "dummy" order and see if it offers you PayPal.

They don't offer PayPal though, that would be the easiest solution.
But I have a PayPal debit card that is linked to my PayPal money. So I was hoping that they would take that.

The Spartan was definitely one of the coolest Rogue Trader conversions. I loved that thing back in the day, nice to see it come back- although it would have been nice if they could have made the profile more distinctive. But man is it pricey.

I have to admit that I can't stand this pre heresy stuff.
I do not have any nostalgic associations with it and think that it's plain ugly.
Anyone with me on this topic?
