I'm mostly thinking adding Blood Angels to my Grey Knights to give them fast, mobile melta. ASM with MGs, an attack bike/speeder group, maybe even an honour guard depending on how single-slot multi-unit choices work. Sadly there will be no Shield + Shrouding for permanent mobile 4+ cover.

Still. Tau can have thunderbubbles now, so . . .

One unbreakable shield against the coming darkness, One last blade forged in defiance of fate.

I know ain't it grand. I'm personally looking forward to adding a unit of nutcases (death company and dreadnought) to my deathwing. No no you all have at it.

I'm planning a small Guard force to represent a cultist group to ally with my Daemons and soon-to-be-rebuilt CSM. They're mainly intended to be cheap grunts to camp objectives.
A Khorne army with both Kharn and Skarbrand seems tempting aswell.

Either CSM, IG or both in my ork army. Mainly for fluff, but I can't deny the draw of better firepower.

Psychic Hoods (and I'm guessing runeswords) ain't all that anymore. They just give a better save to you and nearby models. And again, no character allies per most recent rumors.

Also, Daemons with CSM and renegade IG of course. Having troops on the field turn 1 with no deep striking problems will be wonderful! And having access to some decent firepower for a change without going all-Tzeentch.

Interestingly enough it seems Black Templars will not be able to take IG as their allies. Since they are not a Codex Astartes Chapter this does make sense, as they would only ever assist IG and not have IG assist them. This is why IG can take BT, but not the other way around.

Where are you getting this? According to the Allies matrix it looks to be the other way around.

EDIT: Oh. I read it wrong.

I want a lemun russ punisher in my CSM army. Does pask count as an HQ? Cause that would be great, as I must have an HQ to unlock the punisher. Anyone that answers, thankyou very much. I'm having trouble googling what FOC slot pask fills, and I'm not having much luck determining it from the codex either.

Thought about some sort of Necron main army with ork backup to throw against melee units.

This is just a random idea and sounds good to me in my head.

I will just sit together with an ork friend of mine and see if he could help me out with it since I don't really know orks that well

Oh and... No, there wont be a fluff to it

Before I get too carried away, can allies take dedicated transports from their own codex? (BA taking fast razorbacks in an IG army, ETC.)

I need to restate my previous statement:

The most popular combo will be BA+ other SM codex.

I think it would be cool to have a squadron of Leman Russ tanks accompany my Marines. Can never have too many tanks lol

I'm thinking Chaos Marines to go with Necrons; something like the 'Iron Men' from the Gaunt's Ghosts books in theory. Plus the idea of a Lash Sorcerer turning units into conga-lines with the rumour of casualties go from the from the front (rearranged in order of danger like power-fists heading the conga-line) + Doomscythes seems cruel/scary synergy.

Being a DE player, I immediately thought of using Eldar allies (Corsairs). The general theme and only theme I think DE can realisticly go with is a pirate/corsair theme, which lends a hand to orks, csm, eldar & daemons

Not too sure how fluff would work with other armies, not that I want to use GK with my DE xD

Current thoughts are either to use either a daemon host or to go with a mobile army to support my fluff

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

United Kingdom

Is it me, or will there be some ultimate 'cheese' with Grey Knights allying with Space Wolves/Blood Angels?

If you have two really effective tournament lists, the Allies will give you the ability to merge them together, creating some sort of 'Super-List'

Just my thoughts

Unless I'm misreading the chart, Tau and Vanilla Space Marines are battle brothers? That's something I hadn't expected.

Lost in the Warp....

My ideas were Space Wolves and Dark Eldar, use wyches as a counter attack unit, and have the space wolves be very shooty, Could be an interesting list.
Also Spacewolves and Grey Knights would be a cool build.
Even space wolves and guard could be a very potent combination.

Same list, different army

Psychic hoods have been changed. Nothing has changed for runic weapons.

And you really think they will let runic weapons stay the same when they are basically Psychic Hoods+1 in 5th edition? I fully expect a FAQ to change them, as well.

You're misreading the chart, SOB are listed as "Desperate Allies" to the Tau. It's actually Space Marines that are battle brothers.

I find it funny that all of these allies forces are being dreamt up, when nobody's mentioned if allies are optional are not. If you bring an allies list against me and I'm allowed to say "no, all units must come from your Codex, no exceptions" I will. The potential for overpowered cheese lists is too great.
